Im so sad 🙁 I know I just started this regimen but I cant take this. I woke up this morning and again my pores are so clogged, especially on my nose and next to it on either side. My nose hella itches and my cheeks are hella red. This has been a never ending battle for me.

Sorry to hear that Molly, could be your skin adjusting to the new things in your regime?

Keep at it, don't give up, everyone here is behind you 😉

Yes thats part of it but the pores on my nose have been clogged for a very long time hence why I am using azelex now.

Awww thats sweet of you! Im glad you are behind me

Well I'm not the only one, look at all the replies you have!

I know how crap it is though when you're doing everything right and your face just doesn't want to play ball.

I've been jobhunting recently so I had to a lot of interviews which isn't nice when you have scabs on your face :( but I got a job and this site gave me a lot of encouragement, so I decided to register and support other people instead of skulking around in the shadows

Yeah thats true. I do have a lot of replies indeed. By the way, I think my initial breakout started today :wall:

Whats your new job? Do you like it so far?

The redness in my cheeks has subsided 🙂

I haven't used the products you are using so I can't offer any advice but as it subsided it's probably you skin getting used to the new stuff?

Ihate initial breakouts, I'm never quite sure where to draw teline between an IB and deciding that the product just isn't for me  Good luck, I hope it isn't anything too bad.

Well i still haven't started the job yet, you fill in all those applications to get a job and now I have one I have to fill in a million more forms. My post is in a hospital and I would be respomsible for coordinating the work of the social workers in the Adult Social Care Department. I'ma little bit worried now as I'm waiting for a nurse to call me back about my medical form 😯

It may be it took a while for my skin to get used to the new stuff. Im not sure. Thast wwhy I was worried

Yeah Im like that to. I dont even know how to differentiate between when its an initial breakout and when Im just breaking out because my hormones are f***ed up

Yeah another medical field worker lol Im a nurses aid, my dad is a paramedic, my mom is a retired RN, Cecelia (here on the boards) is an RN, and Wynne the mod is also an RN 🙂

Kim, I know you advised against it but I was reading the label on the azelex and it says to apply it twice a day so thast what I decided to do. Im not having irritation. My cheeks are not red now. It mustve been the smashbox photo finish

Well I'm actually a law graduate but I didn't want to pursue a law career, and I'd be doing more of the administrative side, coordinating the work, arranging meetings, putting together case details etc but I think it will be very satisfying and i like to think I'm helping even if its just a small role. Wow your family seem like the right kind of people to have around in an emergency with all that experience.

Well done for discovering what was causing the redness. How's the initial breakout, I hope it's not too severe or painful

YAY my cheeks arent bright red anymore! The blackheads on my nose dont look as black and clogged lol Some of my scarring is fading already for the first time today! I am so happy! Do you think the azelex has something to do with it, the spiro, or a combination of both. In addition, Ive been applying my deoderant twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. That way, I dont sweat as much while Im sleeping or trying to sleep lol

My face is looking so much better imo! My old scars are finally starting to fade. They dont look purplish, reddish, blue like before! I also am not getting as many pimples and the ones I have are drying up, forming scabs, and then the scabs are falling off. I am so thrilled with this new regimen so far :D Oh and the blackheads on my nose arent as dark black as before.

Since it takes hormonal treatments awhile to kick in fully, I am guessing it is the effects of the Azelex you are seeing now. Azelaic acid does start to work very quickly on redness and hyperpigmentation. I don't know why derms don't prescribe this more often. I like it so much better than the retinoids.

I didnt even ask for it which is awesome! I told him I dont like retin a and he volunteered it before I could even open my mouth up about it like I had planned to 😆 I really am liking it. My face itches like crazy even with the CeraVe but it isnt burning like retin a did for me. Is azelaic acid supposed to work for blackheads or it only works for noninflamed acne?

Azelaic has been found to be effective for both inflamed and non-inflamed acne (including blackheads). It decreases inflamed acne by killing the acne bacteria, which then has a secondary impact of reducing inflamation. It also has direct anti-inflammatory effects, apart from its anti-bacterial effects. It helps with non-inflamed acne through its anti-keratinizing effects (this helps prevent clogged pores from forming in the first place). It is also a free-radical scavanger, which may also help with inflamation and also may have some anti-aging effects.

Thanks for answering my question quickly. It looks like you are really enjoying reading my log because lately youve been replying everyday 🙂

I thought it worked for blackheads too because I have noticed a dramatic difference in them in just a week.

Oh my goodness gracious! Today I took my spiro out of my backpack and then I forgot to put the bottle back in. I wasnt able to take my medicine at 4. Now here it is almost 8 and I cant take it or I will pee all night. :wall: This is the second time in three days I forgot to take the second dose of the med. I never forget my antidepressants though because I only have to take it once and I think if I dont take it, I might get dizzy

*puts spironolactone in my miniback pack* lol

Yes the cream is so incredible! Im so glad you told me about it :D You and my derm rock

I just put on my azelex cream, waited about twenty minutes, then I put on my smashbox photo finish, and my revlon color stay. I have to walk to work this morning because the public transportation sucks here on the weekends and the bus only runs once every hour! The weather is lousy but I always manage to work up a sweat. The weather was the same way yesterday and I had sweat dripping down my nose and forehead. I didnt put the primer and make up on yesterday. I was gonna put it on at work but I forgot to put the smashbox photo finish in my make up bag. I put the revlon color stay but not the primer. I have a horrible memory

I  the sweat doesnt ruin my make up

Im a real crab apple tonight. I was doing well until 3 oclock. I hate my charge nurse. I made a topic about that too. To top the icing on the cake, my cheeks are bright red and there are small white bumps, with little strings of puss that come out. I dont know what this is. My cheeks are so red it looks like a rash. I still am highly convinced Im allergic to dairy. Surely, there has to be something I can do so that I can enjoy dairy.

How long has this been a problem? Has it been just since you started the new medication? If it just started, you might back off to once a day with the azelex and see if that helps. It might just be irritating your skin. I don't know anything about the side effects of spiro, so you might check that out.
