My face is slowly but surely getting betterYAY!
Hopefully you're on the right path, which it sounds like you are, and that's what you should expect to happen. Eventually you will just get an occasional spot or two to deal with, but it should be nothing like what you had going into this.
Question though.... how's the itching of your face just using the SA cleanser and moisturizer? And how is the body itching? It will take a little time before you go through all your "Gain" clothes, but is that dying down at all? If your whole body feels better.... the GAIN!!! That would be GREAT if it just came down to you doing a little detergent switch to feel better!
Take care and continued success!
My body still itches because I havent done my laundry yet. I wont be able to do it until tomorrow after my CPR class or on Sunday. My face itches but not nearly as much. I think its because Im not sleeping with a pillowcase.
I just took a shower and afterwards, I decided I didnt feel like wearing foundation. I will probably wear the foundation every other day. Instead, I just decided to wear the powder. It looks great! I wish I could put pics in my gallery but I really do not like this new camera my dad bought me for Christmas. It cuts off my head lol and its blurry
OMG and you know how I wrote in my log, I had this three headed pimple along my lipline? Its completely gone now! It didnt leave much of a redmark either
I KNEW you would like the powder too! When you do your face with it, if you have any bigger ones, you could use some of your mineral makeup concealer for extra coverage or your liquid foundation, or of course any concealer you love, because you really don't need to cover everything up all the time at all! It is so nice when you begin to see some progress in your breakouts, less itching, less redness and irritation... because then the fun begins with the makeup!!!
Keep us posted! And I agree with you that you can't use a camera that cuts off your head Molly... haha that's the area we're most interested in!!!
Hope your class goes well manana! Ciao!

I will just use my body shop concealer. I love it!
I am getting so annoyed! My pimples take forever to heal and to even form the redmarks. I dont know why  I have these three pimples all in a cluster on my chin for a week and that havent gone away or gotten any better. I also have a new pustule today on my jawline and a new papule on the corner of my lip
The class was okay. I dont really need to give CPR. Im a CNA. I hope I never have to do CPR on anyone though outside of work. I would panic
Im exausted right now and Im gonna go take a nap. I had to wake up at 7:30 on my day off! I dont even wake up that early when I work!
Well, I just did my laundry with All Free I think its called detergent. Its making no difference. My skin still itches like crazy. My arms itch, my face itches, etc. My legs are not really itching but my scalp is also itching. I think its the weather. Plus, Im having anxiety because of what my derm told me about septra can kill a person. Can I not be allergic to sulfa drugs and then one day out of the blue, I am allergic to it?

Have you been able to take sulfa drugs in the past? Also, with the detergent - it takes several washings to get old detergent residue out of the clothes, so give the new detergent some time. Do you use fabric softener? That gave me problems when I used to use it.
First of all don't worry about the anaphylactic shock and septra. It can happen with other things too like bee stings, snake bites, drugs, anything a person comes in contact with that creates a severe allergic reaction to the foreign substance. Read the link I posted below on the symptoms of a bad allergic reaction, then you will know what to look for. If you ever experience such a reaction, you would immediately know and you would be able to call for help. So, relax first of all, and educate yourself on the symptoms so you will feel better because you know.
Next, yes, a person can develop an allergy to sulfa drugs, or anything else, that they previously had no sensitivity to. That's why people seemingly out of nowhere 'develop' allergies to this or that substance when they never used to experience any problems with it before.
Just as you can develop new allergies where you never had them before, you can also become less allergic or end your allergy to certain substances. That's why some people will say they 'outgrew' their allergy to such and such.
Here's a link regarding septra from Walgreens to read which will help you out: http://www.walgreens.com/library/finddrug/...tra&id=4963
The last thing I was thinking... since the weather is awfully drying this time of year in general, could your skin just simply be very dry and itchy due to dryness? Also, is your water hard water so it leaves behind a film of minerals, like whiteness, to your skin which can be very drying and irritating? Those were two things I don't think I asked you yet about your itching.
Ok... let me know what you think! Ciao!
Anaphylaxis is rare. Relax. And ditto everything willow and justamom say. Particularly about giving the detergent some time to work.
Wouldn't hurt to try using some baby oil on your body in the shower; that will help the itching a bit as well. Or Aquaphor or petrolatum jelly. Applied in a warm (never hot) shower, they will melt onto the skin nicely and help form a somewhat protective barrier.

Yes I took them when I was younger. My whole body is itching like crazy! No I do not use fabric softener. In fact, I stopped when I saw you post on other topics that it was contributing to your acne breakouts

Thank you for that link. It helped me a lot!
Yes, it is very dry and itchy to to dryness. I have very dry skin. What does hard water mean? I never understood that term
What does hard water mean? I never understood that term
Hard water is water with a lot of minerals in it. The water here in Florida is hard water. Good for your nails though. 😀
From the World Health Organization:
The term "hardness" is an indication of the presence of usually calcium and magnesium carbonates that reduce the lathering of soaps or precipitate soap residues onto sinks and bathtubs and reduce washing efficiency.
Have a great day. :teehee:
Hmmm. Well my cleanser and soaps lather up well in my shower. My face is hurting and itching like hell. Im getting frustrated because its just getting worse and worse and I dont know what to do to calm it down.
I don't think you would have hard water living where you do come to think of it. It's most common in the central states, some east coast areas, and a lot of the southern states. You would notice that your lathering of products is not good, and you said yours do lather fine. You would also be able to see spots on your dishes, around your basin, etc.
YUM for the cherries! I couldn't eat just cherries for breakfast though without yogurt or cereal or eggbeaters or something to make me feel like I ate food lol. Cherries to me are a snack!!! OOOOOhhhh how about a cherry smoothie!!! :hifive:
Now about your itching... you just said that you feel like it's getting worse and worse. Do you SEE anything unusual in your skin that would indicate an allergic reaction to something? Is it becoming more red or swollen or perhaps have hives or a rash? There's a difference between itching because your spots are healing and your skin is dry, as opposed to itching due to an allergy, atopic dermatitis, etc. I just did a quick search online for atopic dermatitis and this came up but I don't know which website:
"The main symptom of atopic dermatitis is itching. The itching can be severe and persistent, especially at night. Scratching the affected area of skin usually causes a rash. The rash is red and patchy and may be long-lasting (chronic) or come and go (recurring). The rash may:
Develop fluid-filled sores that can ooze fluid or crust over. This can happen when the skin is rubbed or scratched or if a skin infection is present. This is known as an acute (sudden or of short duration), oozing rash.
Be scaly and dry, red, and itchy. This is known as a subacute (longer-duration) rash.
Become tough and thick from constant scratching (lichenification).
The severity of symptoms depends on how large an area of skin is affected, how much you scratch the rash, and whether a secondary infection develops.
Mild atopic dermatitis usually involves a small area of skin that does not itch much and goes away with adequate moisturizing.
Severe atopic dermatitis usually involves a large area of skin that is very itchy and does not go away with moisturizing."
The next thing you could do is either call your derm or doc to have them actually look at your skin as soon as you can get in to see them, when it's itching. Or, you could call a pharmacist and ask some causes, etc.
You could also look up the side effects of each of the medicines you take. Itchy skin might be a side effect you never knew of. Also, you mentioned seasonal allergies might be the cause. Your dad brought you over the anti-histamine. Did that not work?
Give me your thoughts here.

Actually, I couldnt eat very many of the cherries because even though it says unsweetened on the package, they are sweet! I had a balance bar too
It looks like hives or a rash to me. There are small red spots and it itches all over my body. It doesnt go away with moisturizer. I tried putting lac hydrin five on my arms on my ribs and stomach without success. I have never had this before in my life except for the past two months. My dad bring me the Wal-i-tin but I dont know if its okay to take Septra and that. My parents said its okay so I just took their word for it since they know about these things.
Uh oh! Look at this Severe allergic reactions to Wellbutrin XL (rash; hives; itching) those are the first three side effects listed on drugs.com. I certainly hope this isnt the cause of my itchy skin
I think you really do need to have that checked out by a doctor. That could directly be a result of WellbutrinXL, or you might have become allergic to one of your old medicines, you might be allergic to your new septra, you might be allergic to your detergent, who knows what is causing it One thing is for certain, if you have a rash and/or hives with your itching, you need to find out what is causing this so you can stop using/taking the offending product. If it was itching due to dry skin, you would have been able to stop it by using those lotions/moisturizers you tried with no luck. You even tried the hydrocortisone cream on your face with no luck. Phone the doctor so you can get some relief!

I e-mailed my therapist and this is what he wrote It sounds like an allergic reaction. It usually will be due to something that has just changed, like a NEW medicine or detergent or soap. Not weather related. Try some benadryl, lotion (if you dont want to get sleepy) or pill (at night, because it makes you sleepy). Or you could try some zyrtec or claritin, both antihistamines like benadryl but they arent likely to make you sleepy. I of course sent him an e-mail back saying Ive tried Claritin and it hasnt really helped.
My mom makes the best casoroles. Yesterday, she invited me over for dinner and she made this delectable echilada casorole. Its very high in calories but it contains no transfats and its just awesome
Hey~
I agree with the therapist that it sounds like something NEW due to the fact you now have a rash and/or hives. However, you have complained for a long time about itching, even before the septra. BUT, your last medicines also contained sulfa right? But, you still said your itching has been going on even before the cef ? oral tab and clenia. SO, could this new rash/hives be due to your septra as sulfa drugs are known for allergies and rashes? UGGGG... how is it doing today? better? worse? the same? Has anyone seen it at work and said anything about it? Couldn't you grab a nurse or doctor there to have them take a look?
That caserole sounds incredibly yummy just by the words "mom makes the best" "delectable" "enchilada" and "caserole." hahaha I would LOVE if your mom would tell you the recipe so you could PM it to me, or if others want it, post it here! My daughter and I just LOVE Mexican food, and that sounds like something I could make when she comes home that all 3 of us would enjoy!
Thanks and we have to figure out this rash! Ciao!
Its the neutrogena for sensitive skin. Now that I know it contains a highly comedogenic ingredient, I will never use it again!
I dont think it is the sulfer drugs. It has to be something else. My mom told me when I was younger, I took Septra several times for my ear infections.
No one at work has seen it because I cover my face up with make up. Its better today a little bit but I think its because of the wal-i-tin. It was itchy all morning and then finally it subsided some. My acne looks horrible! I have this huge pustule right next to my upper lip on the right side and I have another one forming on the bottom life side of my lip. I hate these lip pimples! Theyre ugly and they hurt! I am gonna put a little bit of bp on both those pimples
Sure I will e-mail my mom and ask if she could give me the recipe. I will then post it here
I feel sick I am beginning to think more and more I am lactose intolerant. I did something ultra stupid. I woke up at around 6 oclock craving coffee ice cream. About an hour ago, I drank a strawberry smoothy. Right after the smoothy, I took a huge diarrhea (sorry tmi I know but I have to describe my lactose intolerant effects lol). Now my stomach is killing me. I wouldnt be surprised if I break out again too
