hahaha is my log really that dramatic and life changing?

My regimen is completely different now. I told him I think the weather is causing my dry skin. He said that could be. The sun is actually good for the skin compared to the cold so that could very well be. He also took me off cefadroxil and put me on septra twice a day. He scared the living shit out of me though. He goes, "Are you allergic to sulfa?" I go, "I dont know" He goes, "That can kill if you are" Im like, "Geeze, I dont know if Im allergic to it or not. You scared me!" He told me to ask my mom and she said in the past Ive been on septra so its fine. He goes, if you get a rash from it, stop it immediately! He really had no idea what to try for me since Ive tried practically everything! He kept on pacing back and forth. He left the room and then finally came back and sat down. He goes, "Im gonna write you a prescription for septra. It works faster than cefadroxil and its the strongest antibiotic" I asked him if there is any high quality cleanser. He had this stuff called SkinCeuticals Clarifying Cleanser which is a salicylic acid cleanser. It was so expensive $28! He also gave me a clay mask (same brand) that Im only supposed to use one to two times a week. That was also really expensive $40!

My mom spoiled me today and I didnt even ask her to. She paid for everything at the derms office. She also bought me Prescriptives Flawless Skin. I think the other prescriptives was contributing to my breakouts and red skin. My skin looks a lot better now already. The woman at the counter was so kind and so helpful. She goes, "Virtual Matte could be causing your skin to itch. Its the wrong formula for your skin. Your skin is mostly dry. Virtual Matte is for oily skin" My mom also bought me a prescriptives brush, a prescriptives make up remover, and a prescriptives powder to go over the foundation.

So no more clenia in your regimen then? I hope the new meds (and new makeup) work for you!

Good luck with your new regimen, Molly! I don't know if you're still interested in laser treatment, but here's a short article:

Hey!

The septra is like bactrim that manuka honey was given for her skin. It's two drugs in one and should knock that acne out of the park!!! I remember I had to take bactrim for an ear infection once and my skin cleared up right away! Unfortunately, I became allergic to it and that ended that love affair with bactrim! :boohoo:

Interesting he prescribed or suggested no topicals as he's thinking the mask twice a week plus the septra will clear you all up? Perhaps that's because the new cleanser contains salicylic acid?

Also, I'm glad the prescriptives lady treated you with class. Your skin is dry, yet you had the same makeup a prescriptives lady told me to get with my oily skin! I hope that makeup is more suitable for your skin. The other thing I noticed, your last prescriptives virtual matte was in the blue/red shade and this new one is in the yellow/orange. Am I correct in that?

I have the powder compact which I wear. I rarely wear liquid foundation, just as a coverup, but I do rotate the prescriptives compact in with my other makeup. I think you will like it.

Well good luck on this new regimen. I'm sure this will work well with the new topicals calming down your skin and the septra getting the job done internally.

Ciao!

Hmmm, hopefully the septra will help me with my ear pain also. I often have ear aches and problems mishearing people (although the mishearing part is my learning disability). Yes, he told me the septra will work really fast. How long until you saw improvement after starting septra? How long until you became allergic to it? Do you mean allergic as in you became immune to it or allergic as in it gave you a skin rash and made your lips puffy? Sorry for all the questions lol

Well the Virtual Matte clearly wasnt suitable for my oily skin. I think Ive actually used Prescriptives Flawless Skin before but that was a looooong time ago. All I remembered is I like it. The Virtual Matte yes, I am a red/blue and the Flawless Skin I am yellow/orange. They are formulated differently. I learned something very fascinating from the woman doing my make up today. When picking the color for the foundation, you have to pick the color that matches your neck. Sometimes the color for your face isnt the same as the color for your neck. It has to blend in with my neck. The red/blue in this formula didnt match either my face or my neck. Im really excited to wearing my make up tomorrow! :catdance:

At around 7:00, I washed my face with the SkinCeuticals and then I put the mask on and washed it off with luke warm water.

Oh and I had that painful cyst injected with cortisone today. Heres what it looks like now

Hey!

Regarding septra and ear pain... If you have an actual ear infection, yes the septra will do a good job of killing that bacteria causing the infection. If, however, your ears are aching you due to fluid retention in the ear which is not infected, the septra won't do anything except keep that accumulated fluid from becoming infected if it doesn't drain properly. Allergies, swollen nasal/lymphatic tissue/even improperly-functioning eustachian tubes that don't drain properly, can allow fluid to be retained in the ear. This fluid eventually drains without becoming infected when the cause is corrected. For example, if you have allergies that are creating swelling in the nearby tissues, you could have retained fluid in your ears that is not infected but is causing you pain. Decongestants, anti-histamines, etc. would help to drain the fluid. So, depending upon the cause of your ear pain will depend on whether or not the septra works on your pain.

Regarding bactrim and my experience... The bactrim began working within two days - VERY quickly. Again, I never had much at any given time on my face, but what I did have they started to die down substantially within two days' time. No new anythings popped up during the course of my antibiotic regimen with bactrim, which was the full 10 days. I got a rash at the end of the treatment, approximately day 10 or 11, which lasted about 5 days. Luckily my ear infection had cleared up as did my skin! When I went to my derm for my next appt, I told her I wished I was able to stay on the bactrim bc it did such a great job. She said patients LOVE that stuff but a lot of people do become allergic to it so she doesn't routinely prescribe it unless other things haven't been successful. My lips never became puffy. I never had problems breathing or heart palpitations or a swollen tongue. I just had a very pretty rash, which made me look sunburned, but itched lol. DARN IT!!!

That's the SAME thing the prescriptives lady told me too... She was blending it on both sides of my face into my neck to make sure there was no transition line. Mine is a great match but like I said, I mostly use it as a concealer on spots and use the powder compact all over. It's good stuff and I know it will look really nice on your skin. The new formulation won't be bothersome to your skin either, so you'll be able to wear it with confidence!

I checked out that picture of the cyst... and tomorrow it will be totally gone... it looks almost gone now! Then the septra will go to work on everything else so hopefully, we will see some new glorious pictures of you looking good after about a week I would say. You have a lot of involvement around your chin, so give the septra some time to work on those little buggers!

Without using the clenia last night or today... instead using the new cleanser and moisturizer, how does your skin feel? Are you still experiencing the same amount or intensity of itching? Did the derm think your skin was itchy due to any allergies to the clenia instead of the weather?

See... I ask just as many questions!!!

Ciao!

Ciao!

I dont know what the cause of my ear pain is. I hope its not fluid retention then

It started working in two days! OMG yay 😯 I hope that happens to me too! I just hope I do not become allergic to it and I hope I dont get anaphylactic shock. Id prefer to be alive than dead. He scared the shit out of me when he bluntly told me if I take septra and Im allergic to sulfa I can die! I didnt know it caused anaphyical shock like in people who eat peanut butter if they are allergic to it

Yes, thats what my woman at the counter did also. There wasnt a line with either color and to me both shades looked the same  My mom and her agreed the yellow/orange looked better. Even though you only use yours as a concealer, what shade are you? How about the powder compact, what shade are you in that?

The cyst doesnt look almost gone to me but it sure does feel better. It was funny. First thing I told him, "I have a cyst right on the bone of my face and it hurts!" He goes, "Would you like me to inject it with cortisone?" I go, "Im afraid of that because I have a dent from one." He goes, "What dent? I dont see a dent? Where is the dent?" I go, "Its right here somewhere" I know its near my lips somewhere on my chin." He gave me the mirror and I showed it to him. He goes in a sweet joking way, "Thats not a dent. Youre a bullshitter" 😆 When my appointment was done he of course walked out of the room to get ready for the next person with an appointment. I said, "Opps I forgot to have you inject the cyst with cortisone" He goes, "I thought you didnt want to?" I go, "Its too painful not to" "Alright meet me in the room we were in" He injected it with the cortisone, my mom paid for my stuff (it was a gift since she makes a hell of a lot more money from her retirement checks than I make working) and I was on my merry way 🙂

No, he didnt think the clenia was causing allergies and he said it could be the weather, that hot months are better for the skin. He also thinks my laundry detergent could be the problem. I go, "Hmmm, Im using GAIN" He goes, "That has fragrance in it and perfumes. They have laundry detergants that are fragrance and perfume free you might want to buy" He could be right. I never had this itching problem when I used Tide. My whole body is itching, even my scalp

Dont ask me anymore questions Ms Melanie or I will never write to you again! 😛 😆

YAY my cyst looks better! It formed a scab, its much more flat, and the only thing I dont like is its gonna leave a redmarks because it already is still really pinkish red around the scab. That of course will fade with time. I am just glad it didnt leave an indentation

Hey!

I bought the Prescriptives Virtual Matte during the summer. Since I'm outside tons, even though I wear sunscreen, I still get color. So this shade is too dark for me now. I will wear it again in the summer as a concealer. The color is Fresh Bisque 05 Y/O.

Right now, since I'm my normal color, I have L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Makeup spf 18 sunscreen 16 hour in color 606 Natural Buff. If anything this is perhaps a touch lighter than my color, BUT, since I only use it for spots, when it covers over the spots, which are darker than my skin, it makes the spots the same color as my skin. When I've used a concealer exactly the color of my skin on spots, the spots always come out a touch darker than my skin. So I've learned since I'm literally only covering a dark mark on my skin, the touch lighter shade brings the darkness of the spot up to my skin color. This way there is virtually no look of a spot, as much as can be expected of course. But it's not lighter, just the same color.

The Prescriptives AnyWear Multi-Finish Compact Foundation spf 12 is in the color Ivory 05 Y/O. This is a good color for me now but in the summer I will gradually use a deeper shade, not sure of the color yet lol. I also use Smashbox Function5 Self-Adjusting Powder Foundation in color Light L1-L2. This has a touch more yellow base to it than the Prescriptives Ivory 05, so I just go according to each day.

haha That's funny about the cyst. You sounded convincing that you didn't want to get the shot lol. He was confused! But how about that Gain??? I would die if that's what has been causing your itching. We never even thought about a change of laundry detergent! Gosh, I hope that is the cause. It would be SO easy to switch back to Tide.

Let us all know how your day went today using all your new products. I'm hoping for some good news Ms. Molly! :hifive:

Youve got a lot of nice name brand foundations it sounds like. I think thats cool 🙂 You have one for each season of the year 😆

My face is so beat red still. In fact, one of my favorite patients (I have many) in the nursing home asked why are my cheeks so red. I just told her they itch and Ive always had red cheeks.

Tonight I am not even gonna sleep with a pillowcase. I have a macys contour pillow and I just removed the fitted sheet and left the mattress cover thingingmagig on top. I want to make experiment to see if it really is the detergent that is causing this. It may very well be and if it is, I am glad. That way, I wont use a fragrance detergent ever again and this problem can be solved easily.

I have another pic in the gallery Melanie that is awaiting to be approved. Its a pic of me wearing my new make up, my dior colored lipgloss, and Im wearing my hair down 🙂

I also talked to my mom overnight and she told me she will give me a box of tide detergent. That way, I dont have to spend money on it. Now I have free water and free detergent soon :)

WOW! Your photo looks great with that new makeup! You did an excellent job blending it with the new foundation brush because you made it look as the name says... flawless! lol What color is it? It's a great match for you! Do you like this one better than the virtual matte? I think this one is an easier consistency to spread if I remember correctly.

EXCELLENT for no new pimples too! I'm sure you will still break out, so don't worry about that, but take each day you don't get new ones as an extra fun day! Also, you said you slept without anything touching you that could have been washed in Gain. Did you notice any difference in your itching today? If not, it still needs to get out of your system so I wouldn't expect it to be perfect today even if it was caused by the Gain. Your clothes, towels, etc. were all washed in Gain remember.

YAY for nice moms! Also, YAY for daughters who appreciate nice moms lol! I'm sure she understands all your frustrations and realizes you are doing everything possible to fix your skin and get rid of the itchiness/breakouts. She is probably equally frustrated and is helping you out with all the recent purchases she made for you! She's very sweet to do that!

Let us know how your day/night went! Take care!

Thank you! The shade is yellow orange 🙂 Yes, I like it better than the virtual matte. My face isnt as itchy today but my body is pretty itchy. Thats because last night I wore my pjs that were washed in GAIN

Yes, thats sweet of her to do that. She is annoying though. She contradicts everything I say about my skin. I just want to be acknowledged. The day I went to the dermatologist she said my skin looked better. My derm and I both dont think so

Today my face does look a lot better actually

Sounds like how I have been feeling lately. Hope you feel better soon. Also - I mentioned this in my log, but I am going to be reducing my time on the board for awhile. Maybe even taking a total break for at least a short period of time. I think being here so much is making me feel worse.

That's tough, and we all have to sometimes reduce our time here. (Thus my two week absence!) Good luck willow and Molly.

nevermind about uploading this pic. My camera doesnt take quality picstures and I gotta go take a shower. I might come on some before I leave for my depressing job. I hate it when my patients die even though I know the nursing home is there last place to live and that they are there to die. It really hurts 🙁

I'm sorry you're feeling so down. You're going to miss your patient a lot. The upside of the particular nursing home you work in is that you are such a kind and caring caregiver, that the patients are lucky they have you! You bring a smile to each of their faces because they know you care about each and every one of them! So even though it is depressing because you know it's their last place to live, you are making it a comfortable place for them.

Like the hospice person, they are there to make gravely-ill people be as much at peace as they can, while taking care of their physical needs as well as emotional support. It takes a special person to be able to withstand not only the physical demands of such a position but also the emotional ones as well. It can be very depressing. That's why sometimes you just need "Molly" time. Take a walk in the beautiful spring air when it arrives, go to a movie or shopping with your mom, spend some happy time. You deserve it.

I cannot wait until tomorrow is over, actually Saturday. I have to wake up early to go to a CPR class for my CEUs. This class is four units and its at the same school I went to last Thursday. When I get home I will sleep and on Sunday evening, I will visit my friend in the hospital. I have been so tired lately because of all the stress at work. All I do is eat, work and sleep sleep sleep. Today I slept until 11:30. I had gone to bed at 1:00. I will probably do the same again tonight. I love sleep because it momentarily makes all my worries go away

YAY!

Hopefully you're on the right path, which it sounds like you are, and that's what you should expect to happen. Eventually you will just get an occasional spot or two to deal with, but it should be nothing like what you had going into this.

Question though.... how's the itching of your face just using the SA cleanser and moisturizer? And how is the body itching? It will take a little time before you go through all your "Gain" clothes, but is that dying down at all? If your whole body feels better.... the GAIN!!! That would be GREAT if it just came down to you doing a little detergent switch to feel better!

Take care and continued success!
