I was wondering because I've recently started breaking out with my Jojoba after stopping my BP application... So I did some research on the chemicals found in Jojoba and learned that there's Arachidic Acid. Arachidic Acid being a derivative from peanut oil. So I'm wondering if my breaking out isn't partly because of Jojoba. My breakout to Emu-Oil was easy to spot out... But now I'm worried about Jojoba because of the Arachidic Acid...
Hey~
See that's what has always made me wonder which product does this or that because you stopped your BP about the same time you began using your Jojoba. So then how do you know stopping the BP wasn't the thing that made you break out? That's the confusing part for me when I switch around too many variables at around the same time because they say it takes around 2 weeks for the spot to begin forming under your skin. So I then try to think back to what I did 2 weeks ago lol. Crazy!
Anyway, I've used Jojoba now for months and have had no problems with it when I'm using my other topicals, which include BP in the AM at least 4 times per week. I also don't use the Jojoba every day though. I know some people do have problems with it, however. Perhaps you should start up your BP again without the Jojoba, then slowly go off the BP to see if you break out. Then you would know it could be the BP variable. UGH!
Good luck!
Hey Molly!
WOW - I caught up on your log tonight and the main thing that stood out in my mind was alllllllllll the food you ladies have been talking about!!! I know to keep away from this thread when I'm hungry lol.
So glad you rescheduled your derm appointment for Monday. I simply cannot wait to see what he has to say! Be sure you ask when you should see improvement on the new regimen I'm sure he will give you. I don't think he would keep you on this one because you said you're not showing any improvement.
How has the baby oil been going for you? I know you said you used it to calm down your skin so I was wondering if after using it for a few days, your skin is beginning to feel better, less itching, etc. It just seems that nothing you use makes it less itchy, so that's why I'm wondering if it is the Clenia because you end up using that at least once a day or every other day. Although, did your skin itch like this before the Clenia?
I'll let you know when Prescriptives answers my email. They just sent the initial response email to say they got my email lol. It should be shortly I'm sure.
Take care and hope everything is going better at work. Let us know how you're doing!
Ciao!

BP doesnt really help my acne so I dont see a reason to go back on it. That was months ago when I stopped the bp and the jojoba oil.

LOL Yesterday, I went to a party for only half an hour. It was an office party at my moms work. I met her 24 year old boss who is only five days older than me 😆 and there was delicious food! We had you know those sandwhiches that are wrapped in I think tortillas with turkey, tomatos, lettuce, and cheese 🙂
I think my itchy skin is a food allergy which is causing eczema. My cheeks actually itched more yesterday and itch more now! Ive tried hydrocortisone cream, Ive tried baby oil, Ive tried Aquaphor. I dont know what else to do besides figure out what food Im allergic to! Hopefully, yes my derm will give me something to help with this horrible itchiness :wall:
I will say though yesterday I didnt get as many new pimples. I got maybe three whereas before I would get anywhere from 10-20 new ones a day.
Yes, thank you for contacting prescriptives! I really do appreciate that. I didnt ask you to do that but you did it out of the kindness of your heart for your adopted second daughter
I better go back to bed. I couldnt sleep. I have to wake up at 7 though to take my shower and get ready for that eight hour class Im taking to earn my continuing education units. Adios!

Hey Molly~
I know you don't like BP or Jojoba. :shake: That comment/question was for Maybe Someday because I still end up using my BP around 4 times per week. I just wasn't sure if perhaps stopping the BP is what made her break out. I've never stopped it completely yet and notice it does seem to keep my skin in check.
Ciao!
Hey~
That's so funny your mom's boss is your age! Those sandwichy things you were describing are called 'wraps' I believe, if it's what I'm picturing. I LOVE wraps because they contain all these yummy ingredients, and don't have thick pieces of bread to contend with. Don't get me wrong, I do love some good bread, but the wraps give such good flavor and flair to some ordinary food. A favorite sandwich or panini of mine is sliced chicken breast, fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced tomatoes, and fresh moozarella slices, drizzled with delicious dressing! SO glad it's lunch time as I get to eat now lol!
I was checking my emails and I got the Prescriptives ingredients. Here they are:

Hope you have a productive day at your class! Ciao!
I got eight CEUs and the class ended at 2:00ish! It was awesome! I loved the teacher. Her name was Zarah and no, that wasnt a typo. Her name does begin with a Z not an S. She was so insightful and sweet. I really like her She showed us some videos and I enjoyed listening to her speak more than I did the videos. Some of the videos were pretty funny though. One of the topics was sleep assessment and the other was sleep management. Many elderly people have trouble falling and staying asleep and wake up many times during the night and wake up very early in the morning. I wasnt aware of that actually. One of the causes of them not being able to sleep at night time is because a lot the residents/patients are on antidepressants. No wonder I cannot sleep half the time, stupid Celexa. Zarah talked about COPD and how a lot of patients who have that use the call light a lot because they are afraid to be alone and they are worry they will take their last breathe alone. I didnt realize that! I have one patient who is exactly like that! Now, I have a better understanding of him.
Yes, thats what they are called wraps! I couldnt think of the name. I was just calling them mini sandwhiches lol
My mom makes these delicious sandwhiches. They are have roasted tomatoes with saige, rosmary, and tyme like the simon and garfunkle song haha
I havent been wearing the prescriptives make up the past three days and I dont think I will for awhile. My skin is too red and irritated as is and I think the make up could just be making it worse.
A few comments about the Prescriptives foundation. I have used it for years, and it has never broken me out (I used it for many of my totally clear-skinned years, so I know it isn't what started breaking me out a couple years ago).
That being said, this foundation is on my acne clinic's "no-no" list. They are starting to compile a list of good and bad cosmetics for their clients. I am not entirely sure why it is on the bad list. The only questionable ingredient I see in it is algae. However, its not one of the first ingredients - and I think some forms of algae are ok and others are not.
If anyone else sees any bad ingredients in that list, let us know (inquiring minds want to know...)
What is Laureth 7 because according to zerozits.com Laureth 23 and Laureth 4 are highly comedogenic and irritating. Laureth 4 is especially comedogenic and irritatingSpeaking of irritating my new picture in the gallery is up
I think if Laureth 7 isn't listed as a problem then you don't need to worry. Sometimes there are major differences between ingredients that sound very similar in name. I'll check the face reality list too.
And I'll head over to check out your "irritating" pic....
Well, the ingredient isn't listed as a problem one on the Face Reality list.
I looked at your recent pic. It almost looks like your skin is more inflamed/irritated than it was in your Februrary pics? Does it seem like that to you (or is it just the lighting you took the pic under?). I hope your derm can give you some other options if you don't think your current regimen is working.

Yes it is definitely more irritated now. It itches and hurts 🙁 I am pretty sure its a combination of something Im eating and the weather. My face itches, sometimes my arms itch, my scalp itches, my eyes itch. In fact, the other day I was waiting at the bus stop and my allergies were so horrible I had tears running all the way down my cheeks, looking like I was crying but I wasnt. The weather definitely isnt agreeing with me either because my skin is so dry and my eyes probably wouldnt be running if the weather agreed with me.

Laureth 7 isnt listed as a comedogenic or a noncomedogenic ingredient on zerozits.com because its not on the list 😆

Well, Laura's list contains only comedogenic ingredients - those rated 3 or higher (so if its not on her list, then its safe). Laureth 7 is not on the list, so it should be OK.

How is it possible for Laura to know every ingredient in the world thats used in make up?

I'm sure she doesn't know every single one, but she has several lists she gets ingredients info from and she probably has info on most commonly used ingredients. I see Laureth 7 in a lot of products, so I presume it is a common ingredient. Trust the info or don't - I was just trying to help answer your question, and went to the most knowledgeable source I know of.

That was sort of a joke Kim. I guess I was unsuccessful. I am not by any means flaming your esthetician. She sounds wonderful, very knowledgeable and Im glad she has cured yours and many other peoples acne! I wish I could see her but shes too far for me.
Hey!
WOW - You had an extremely productive class today! Continuing education is so important for you because, as you saw, you learned some new things that directly pertain to your patients. That will help you understand them better, just like you said, which will allow you to be an even better caregiver! It's wonderful you enjoyed the teacher. Many times teachers can either make or break your enjoyment and enthusiasm for a class/topic. I hope you get her again so it will make the day's learning events go quicker!
lol - Your mom's sandwiches sound yummy with those tomatoes! One of my very favorite side dishes is roasted red bell peppers (I know your favorite lol) and little potato chunks. I cut up the peppers and potatoes into bite-sized pieces, drizzle it all with some extra virgin olive oil, toss, then season it with salt, pepper and fresh rosemary pieces. I then bake it at around 425 degrees until browned and yummy!
It's interesting what Willow said that her acne clinic said about the Prescriptives. Like Willow, I have not broken out from it either. I only use it once in a while, but whenever I use it, I have no problems at all.
I viewed your new pic and I agree your face looks red and irritated. I don't think your current regimen is working very well because it's been around 6 weeks and it has not gotten any better, unfortunately. I still wonder what the main cause of your itchiness is or if you're getting breakouts from allergens or something. I can't wait for Monday when you see your derm again because you really can't continue walking around with such inflamed skin for sure!
OK... Take care and keep us advised on any thoughts you might have! Ciao!
This may be stating a potential obvious - do you think you might be allergic or having a reaction to the sulfur in the clenia? Some people have allergies to anything containing sulfur. Other people get excessive irritation and itching. Here are some of the side effects listed for the clenia medication you are using:
Clenia (Topical) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
Skin rash, or itching
Severe skin swelling, burning, or blistering If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
Peeling of skin
Mild stinging
Redness
Since the redness and itching has gotten worse since you started on it, perhaps that is what is causing the problems??

That is definitely a possibility but I think its something else because Ive had skin rash and itching in the past; its just been more frequent. My skin isnt really peeling and my face isnt swelling or blistering.
The reason I went to the derm the last time is because my acne was getting worse and because my pimples were red and itchy. My cheeks bothered me too
I just received a phone call from my mom. Apparently, her hair dresser has been having extremely itchy skin too, she wanted to wrip her skin off and she hasnt wanted to wear make up. She takes clariton everyday and it clears it right up! I do not have any right now but my dad is gonna drive me to work since I do not drive. He will bring me some clariton with him

Its 1:37 and I am drinking organic green tea with honey both of which are from trader joes of course! When my dad brings me my clariton he is gonna bring me a cadberry bar too 😀 I hope it doesnt make me break out though
The claritin worked a little bit to a certain degree. Its actually Wal-itin but its the same thing. Hopefully, it will work better the more amount of days Ive taken it.
I am so tired right now. I was assigned to fifteen patients in the nursing facility I work in. I forgot to weigh myself today but I probably will tomorrow and I bet Ive lost weight. Yesterday, I wore a pair of jeans and the belt bucket fit on the last whole and some of my dickies uniform pants have been loose at the waist. I bet its all this exercise I get at work
