I have a son and daughter. LOL - I'm always telling my daughter something I read or learned here and she probably thinks she has one crazy mom because I usually will leave this "acne" site hungrier than when I got on! haha But I'm always telling her "omg you have to try this" or "omg I heard you should do that" and the poor kid... she has really nice skin so she'll do one thing at a time and see how it works, but mostly it's the baby brush method of exfoliation or Dr. Bronner's cleanser, or MaMa. But yes... she mentioned the omelets because you started it!
I know there doesn't have to be a reason for you to break out on one side over the other, I was just trying to figure out why. Ask your derm next time you're there. Maybe he will come up with something profound!
I looked up the body shop tea tree oil blemish stick's ingredients:
Allantoin Soothes and moisturizes the skin. Is rich in minerals that help to revitalize the skin.
Glycerin Is an effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.
Tea tree oil Has natural purifying antibacterial properties and is known to help soothe blemished skin. Helps the Aboriginal co-operative to provide training for farmers and to develop pride in their tea tree heritage.
If you have a guide for looking up things that make you break out, you could look them up to see. I went into my health food store and talked to a girl who works there. They had so many different ones and I asked her what one she finds to be the one that worked the best. She liked to be sure the TTO is 100% oil of Melaleuca Alternifolia because then you can mix it with any other oils if you want, or add it to your moisturizer, etc. without it previously being diluted with something else. I got the brand Thursday Plantation in the smallest size to try out mainly because another brand, I don't know the name but if I saw the bottle I would remember it, wasn't in a small-enough size.
So right now with the product you have, you could do your entire routine, then the last step would be to dab on the tea tree product. It soaks in to a degree, leaves some residue behind, but that can be blotted off right before bed if any is visible. I use a small makeup brush I don't use for makeup, like eyeliner size, and just clean it afterwards on tissue or soapy water. I just like the way it applies the oil bc it seemed the Q-tip sucked up too much product and didn't lay it down the best over my other products. You might wanna try it on one or two to see how your skin adjusts to it. I know you have sensitive skin, so the soothing mixture you have already might be good for your particular skin type.
If you wanna get really crazy with the dabbing... you could first dab on a little tea tree oil to a couple of spots, then the honey on top of it. No kidding I've done that too lol. I didn't think it worked any better than just the tea tree oil and was a lot messier lol. But since you have more than 3 spots to treat, after your normal routine, you could do 2 with your tea tree oil, and 2 with your tea tree oil and honey. Make sure they are about the same size spot. Then see if you get any results. We can make this fun Molly!!!
P. S. ~ I was reading about the benefits of icing your entire face before applying topicals. It said you cleanse your skin as usual, then before you apply any topicals, use an ice cube to rub over your face, pat dry, then apply your acne products, moisturizers, etc. as usual. It said the ice helps to reduce the inflammation in the skin, which allows the medicines to penetrate deeper into your pores, because the skin is not as 'puffy' with inflammation. I haven't tried this at all and don't know much about it. Have you heard or read anything about how well it works? It sure seems easy enough to do if it produces better results than simply applying our products after cleansing. What do you think?

Icing works nicely for many. willow569 uses the whole face icing technique as it's recommended by the esthetician she goes to. I have used it for individual lesions as described in the bottom link in my signature.

I love your style of writing. Its so much easier for me to read! I wish everyone wrote like this 🙂 People usually use words I do not understand and write in long paragraphs without any spaces in between. Muchos gracias for not doing that Melanie
What baby brush does your daughter use? Which Dr Bronners does she use? I have an exfoliating brush from the body shop but I havent been using it. The bristles are not soft by any means and thats exactly what I need. My skin is already red and irritated as is. I do not need a rough brush.
lol do you tell your daughter about me? Im like your adopted e-daughter hehe I think you are one of the sweetest people on this site  I bet you crack her up with all these acne.org stories you tell her. So and so wrote this and so and so is talking about putting ketchup on everything 😛
I shall ask my derm on the 6th when I have my appointment. The appointment will be here before I know it. Its right around the corner
Maybe I should go to the body shop and look at their tea tree oil. Itd be nice to have a bottle of some instead of just the blemish stick. Granted I love the blemish stick, its small, doesnt last long, and is difficult to spread to more than a few places. I shall also look up the brand Thursday Plantation and read reviews on it. That way I can make an informative decision instead of just impulsively buying the body shop tea tree oil just because its "the body shop" and I love that store haha
I often go to zero.zits.com to look up ingredients. I am so self concious about my skin and for a real reason. Anyone with moderate acne and sensitive skin probably would be.
To dab the honey on my problem areas, I just used my pointer finger. Fingers are not irritating the way q tips are. Plus I dont like the way the honey sticks to the q tip lol Im also left with cotton on my pimple instead of just honey. That is a great idea to try the tea tree oil and the honey on top of that. I will also experiment with that. Thanks for the tip my friend 🙂
I'm glad you like my style of writing lol. I try to devote one paragraph per thought, or at least break it up a bit so it's easier to read and skip if that particular one doesn't interest you!
Since she is just buying the baby brush today or at least sometime this week, I'm not sure which type she will buy. I know I've only really seen one or two styles of baby brushes around. For your particular skin type, you could check it out with Wynne to see if that would be a good method for you. Also, what do you think about icing the face before application of topicals?
I do tell my daughter about the various topics we discuss around here. Usually it's a pretty quick convo with not much detail because she's pretty busy. But I do like to briefly fill her in on some of the fun things to try... which of course includes food items too!
I can't WAIT for your derm appt so we can all see what he feels is going on with your skin. Write down all the questions you want him to answer so you don't forget anything while you're in the office and inevitably discussing stuff he needs to review with you.
Regarding tea tree oil... there are a number of good ones out there. The body shop has good products too; but because your tea tree will be mixing with other products on your face, it might be best to get a little bottle of 100% tea tree oil instead of one that is already mixed with other products. Dabbing honey over it with your finger is definitely better than a Q-tip lol. The little Q-tip fibers would make you itch lol.
Have a good day and Ciao!
P. S. ~ She uses the Dr. Bronner's liquid soap with tea tree. She will also switch off to other ones she has, mild ones, usually from her health food store, that I don't know the names of.

I think right now I am going to not use the baby brush method. My skin is just so dry and itchy as is. I might buy a baby brush at a later point in time and ask wynne for a recommendation.
I dont really like icing my face. Ive tried it in the past and I didnt find it very effective. Ive actually had better luck with hot compresses than with cold ones.
I will try and get some tea tree oil though. Im not sure when though, maybe next weekend when Im off or the friday after that when I am off again. I will also continue to use aspirin masks on my chin mixed with the honey of course
Omg I have a funny story! My mom and dad invited me over for dinner tonight. My mom made this delectable soup with potatoes, corn, onions, chicken, carrots and a little bit of garlic and seasoning. Anyway, when we were done eating my dad picked up our plates and started cleaning them by hand. I told my mom my nose has been itching. My dad has the wackiest ideas! He goes, "Your nose itches because you have clogged pores on your nose" I go, "Its the inside of my nose dad not the outside!" He goes, "Either way, thats why your nose itches" My mom started rolling her eyes and I couldnt stop laughing at my dad 😆 😆 😆
LOL - silly dads! I'm sure your mom will set him straight!
Ya... when you asked about the baby hair brush, that's why I told you to ask Wynne. You have such sensitive skin and I just don't know if it would be good since you're breaking out still. I almost think it might spread the bacteria.
Icing... I've never done it but it makes sense that it would help with the overall inflammation enough to allow the meds to penetrate further without puffiness around each pore hindering absorption. For me I prefer warmth lol, but that would be for an individual spot, not full face like this icing method. I don't like cold on me at all... any place lol... so I would not be a good candidate for sticking an ice cube on my face and rubbing it around and around!
As for the tea tree oil... continue to use that stick you already have because it also has some calming ingredients. It should give you a good idea if tto would work for your individual spots since that's the active ingredient in it. Since your skin is sensitive, I worry straight up tto would make your skin more red, so you couldn't apply it straight up on your particular type bare skin. I don't even do that and my skin is definitely not as sensitive as yours! I always apply it as my last product.
Funny story for me too... my husband bought me "get gorgeous" name tea for clearing up skin, when he just happened to be in a world food store because he knows I love tea and of course I'm always trying things for skin care. Then just today I discovered this new topic starter by bunnylips on rooibus tea under the category severe acne - cysts and nodules! It is the same tea he bought for me!!! Read the thread. I found it interesting and as I'm typing this, I'm taking sips of said tea! I will definitely let you know if it makes me gorgeous!
That chicken and vegies dish your mom made sounds wonderful! One of my favorite foods is chicken. Since you eat it just about every day at lunch, I'd have to assume it's one of yours too! I'm just really glad I already ate so the thought of it doesn't linger too long tonight lol.
Ciao!

lol I dont need my mom to set him straight. I did by laughing hysterically at what he said.
I think it would spread bacteria also so I am not gonna use the baby brush. I dont feel it really helped me when I was using it anyway
I dont like cold on me anywhere either. I like it somewhere in the middle. After living here in nothern CA for 24 years, I still do not like the weather. Its so unpredictable and back and forth
I really like the tea tree oil blemish stick. It realy is calming and soothing. Okay I will only use it as a last product not just by itself 🙂
lol You can give a lot of insight under that thread now about that tea. I love green tea with honey. mmmmm
Yes I love chicken! I like it because it is a white meat. I do not like dark meat. I cannot stand dark turkey and my least favorite meat is ham. One time at thanksgiving I ate some and I will never eat any again. I dont even like the way it looks, pink meat, yuck!
My face looks really horrible. I really am losing hope. Its getting better on the left side but there is no improvement on the right side at all even though I used the aspirin mask. It still looks red and angry 🙁 I wish I could put pictures under my gallery but this new camera my dad bought me for Christmas, I dont like the way the pictures turn out at all. Ive taken like a hundred pictures and they all come out shitty
Hi Molly!
I read your entire log this weekend and am wishing you the best. I can tell you are very frustrated!
I am newbie, but I do have a few questions for you:
1. You gave a website you check ingredients on - zero zit, when I tried to pull up I could find it, what is the name of the site again?
2. How do you feel about the sulfur oral and topical you are using, do you think it is helping? I have had problems with sulfur in the past, and am just wondering. I have used as spot treatment and never saw results, just dried out my skin. My mom is allergic so she can't use anything with sulfur.
3. Your Prescriptives, do you really like the foundation? I am on a search for a good one and see alot about EM, but already use BE. P.S. your photo with the EM earlier in your log made your skin look really great though!
4. I wasn't sure of your thoughts about Mandelic Acid? I saw a brief note by justamom, but not sure if you ever used before. I just started it and hoping to see some good changes.
Thanks and good luck!
Hey Molly!
Just a quick little comment regarding the tea tree oil products... when I said I use mine as the last product, I meant I use it that way because it is 100% tea tree oil and other ingredients have not been added to it. Some tea tree oil treatment products have other added ingredients. The 100% tto that I have, I use on top of my topicals. THAT is the product I think might irritate your skin too much bc of your sensitive skin.
However, the tto product YOU have already has the calming ingredients added to it. You can follow the directions but I think that would be fine right on your skin if you're around the apartment and want to give it an extra dab. But at night I still would put it on last on each spot. If you do it first, I would think applying your other topical would kinda rub it off.
I have NO idea whatsoever why your left side is not cooperating with the right side! UGH! I really can't wait to hear what your derm has to say at your next appointment. He might have some quick response like... wow it isn't working... let's use this or that! We're trying to get these products he gave you to work... when maybe they aren't!? It's obvious one side likes it, but what's with the other side? crazzzzy
What'd your dad say after you laughed hysterically at him? Ciao!

http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acne_detective/article6.htm There is it. I had a difficult time finding it on the web too. Someone from here gave me that link
Its sort of helping but very slowly! Its not helping the right side of my face at all. The left side of my face looks a lot better
The prescriptives foundation spreads so well and its so easy to put on. All I do is shake the bottle turn it upside down while I press it against my middle finger, then I turn it back right side up and apply a dot size to each part of my face: a dot on my chin, a dot on both cheeks, a dot on my forehead and a dot on my nose and then I just spread it around with my finger.

Yes I will continue to use my tea tree oil blemish stick on top of my other topical treatments. Now that is something that does agree with my skin. Ive had it for oh Id say four or more months.
No its my right side that is breaking out horribly like my left side. My left side isnt clear but it looks a lot better than the right side. The right side is a walking disaster 🙁 I hate face! I look like a freak and my face is itching like crazy! I hope I finally get something from him that works for me
Maybe we can talk about my dad later. Im mad at him right now

Sorry to hear that you haven't seen much improvement Molly! At least you have a derm appointment not too far away. Hopefully you will either have seen some progress by then or the derm can at least give you something else to try if he thinks the current regimen isn't helping.
Hey Molly!
Just checking in to see if the right side is catching up with the left! Do you think your hormones have gone back to normal yet after the whole Spiro deal? If not, do you think that could be what's causing your bad breakouts... kind of like when some people come off of birth control pills they get flareups?
Also, do you read the holistic threads and could you incorporate some of the internal anti-inflammatory foods or supplements into your routine? I was thinking if I'm drinking all this rooibos tea, you should suffer with me and drink or eat something you don't like too! haha
Ciao!

Ciao!
Hi Melanie! No I got two more pimples on my lip area of my right side :wall: I have like twenty pimples on my right side now. Its aweful! Unfortunately, I dont think my hormones have been normal for a long time now. I really need to at some point get into see a gynocologist because my periods are really long, two weeks is so abnormal.
Maybe I could incorperate a supplement. I havent decided what yet though. Oh yes! I hate tea! I will never drink it ever again 😛
Hey!
That's really too bad that the bp is too irritating because it seemed to be drying up those nasties around your lips. I've found when my skin gets too dry, it makes it harder for them to come to the surface and resolve themselves. So that's probably why they look like blisters now. Your skin is dry and aggravated so they look that much worse!
So you think it's definitely hormonal, which two-week-long periods would definitely indicate something was up. I agree with you. Visit a gyno and perhaps they could figure out something further. Once they see what's up with that, they might even suggest the pill to regulate you. I'm sure you've read a lot of posts around here about hormonal acne so I can't contribute anything further!
It would be great if you could send photos of your skin via email to your derm so he could help with your skin in between actual visits!
Take care and ciao!

I stopped using the bp yesterday. That is probably why they looked the blisters and have had a hard time healing. Im also pretty stressed out which is also part of it.
I had gone to my gyno last year and she had me tested for polyps. On the ultrasound, the test showed up negative. She also didnt think I have endometriosis. Ive been on Yasmin and it worked the first time I was on it and then I went off of it because I wasnt breaking out anymore and I didnt have a reauthorization for it.
I wonder if my derm does have a special e-mail address for his clients
Ya, I've noticed that when I was using the bp to spot treat, it would make the skin on top harder, and would sometimes (to me I felt) leave a darker PIH mark. That's why I decided my skin preferred tea tree oil because it never makes the skin on the spot harder, but instead just seems to heal it up a little more each day. Since the spot goes away quicker, it seems there was less of a red mark left, more so pinkish. So for now, it would probably be better for you to use your clenia when you can and that body shop tea tree oil blemish stick that you like!
I've read a lot of posters say that after they went off their bc pills, they broke out more it seemed. I don't know how long you were on Yasmin, or when you stopped taking it, but could that be the reason? You mentioned your periods were long as well. Is your body adjusting to being off the pill? Also, do you feel bcp's worked well for you so that you would like to go back on them?
I know whenever I have a question about anything, I just call and the nurses there just handle it. If they can't they take a message and either the derm calls me back bc he has questions about my questions haha, or he gives the answer to the nurses and they call me back. If you want, you could check to see if they have that email photo option to allow them to see if you're on the right track before your next appointment. OR... perhaps he would want a shorter follow-up time just to see if you're on track with what he expects to see in a shorter period of time. When you're there though, be sure you ask him when he would expect you to see definite results if the treatment he gives you is working. If we knew what to expect timewise, it would be easier to figure out if it is working for you. I know some meds take longer to work than others, but at this point, that right side really needs to go on vacation and leave you alone!
Ciao!

That's why I decided my skin preferred tea tree oil because it never makes the skin on the spot harder, but instead just seems to heal it up a little more each day. Since the spot goes away quicker, it seems there was less of a red mark left, more so pinkish. So for now, it would probably be better for you to use your clenia when you can and that body shop tea tree oil blemish stick that you like!I've read a lot of posters say that after they went off their bc pills, they broke out more it seemed.
Ciao!
I really do like the tea tree oil blemish stick. It worked pretty well for me last night. That one zit on my lipline thats been driving me crazy didnt have a regrown yellowhead 🙂
No, I actually think my face looked better when I was off the pill. In fact, the second time I went on yasmin, I think it gave me cystic acne. I was on it for six months before I decided to call it quites. I wouldnt mind experimenting with birthcontrol pills until I find one that works well for me.
I dont know. I dont really like talking to the medical assistants there. Often times they dont pass along my messege. Yeah I will ask him to make an estimation of how long of a duration he thinks it will be before I see improvement.
Oh by the way, Im eating chicken nuggests for dinner with lots of ketchup 🙂
My face looks better tonight than it did all day yesterday. I will try and post another pic in my gallery
