Ok - bought the too faced shadow insurance last night, applied 5 hrs ago with obnoxiously dark grey shadow, has not budged!! I may be in love. My eyes are burning, but I changed out 2 light fixtures and got a healthy dose of fiberglass insulation in my face 😆 heh, thanks for the rec!

Also, my painted whore status compelled me to buy Revlon Matte lippies - meh. The feel is nice, the consistency is nice, but the colors suck. They are all orangey and warm, I look god awful in warms. Also the wear is gross - they last a good bit - but when they go it's in patches, very ugly.

(btw - i apologize for reviewing all my crap in you thread, is it ok???)

also - holy cow! The lift on that mascara is amazing! How long does that effect last?

Hahaha! Fiberglass= bad. I'm so happy it's working for you! Yay! 🙂 And no problem!

Oooh.... painted whore status. Sounds like a good title for a book. Yuck, I am pretty sure I look bad in most warms too. I am super fair with a pink undertone and I think they don't go well with my skin tone! Hate patches. Ummm, you reviewing stuff in my thread is what I created it for! Review away!

Oh haha, so I did use an eyelash curler first. I will post a pic where I haven't to see if it makes a big difference or not. 😉 But the mascara is great, lasts all day- no flaking and/or drooping!

A look I did for NYE 2010 :)

Just add mascara and a baby pink or light peachy gloss!

so, after I washed off the too faced I saw i had a bunch of tiny bumps on my eyelids. Gross. They slowly became incredibly itchy, then my lower left eyelid swelled up. I returned the shit. Never had anything like that happen before... I got bare minerals prime time eye at the the sephora reps rec, but I'm feeling a bit gun shy

My YSL mascara. If I wasn't so sloppy (lol) the ends would be more separated and spread out. But this gives you a good idea of the lift and volume it gives. Fullness... ehhh, it's more natural. You can always add on a thickening mascara if you want more drama.

Wow, that's amazing!

this is random, but has anyone tried and really liked the falsies by maybelline? i got the waterproof version a while ago, and i think it's great. i wipe off some of the product with a tissue first, since the brush can pick up too much.

and bek, are you using a pigment in your NYE look? it looks really good. on my computer it looks gold, and gold plus black is such a cool combo.

Wow. That is horrible. Are you allergic or sensitive to certain things? My skin

is really hardy and can take almost anything... So I guess I don't know if

I should recommend products for people with sensitive skin? Blaggh how annoying

right? Anyhow sorry to hear that!

I have heard some good things about that mascara but haven't tried it yet! Maybe I'll make it my next try 🙂 Love me some lashes.

It is gold! Haha. I actually used Too Faced starry eyed liquid eyeliner in gold, I think they sell it seasonally... I can't find it online right now. Maybe in stores? And thank you!!

I AM SO GETTING THE NEW "COUTURE COLOR" FROM SEPHORA.

In auburn I think. Sounds like what I want. I am far too scared to try the blondes

even though I want to see what it would look like. Check out the reviews! I can't

wait for it to come into stock at my Sephora. Anyone have tips for coloring at home?

Never done it before.

Do you have your hair colored often? Is there any dye in it now?

I would be so scared to do permanent color on my own! If you're staying anywhere near your current color, why not just choose a semi-permanent dye?

No, not often. The last time I did my hair was 2 months ago and it was henna not dye. Hmmm. I dunno, it looked like a really good set/color? 😛

Yeah haha I like that the color set comes with a nice sample of the hair oil. Lol! Use up that glossing cream! I had it before... liked it, but didn't love it. Sometimes when you re-try things you find better ways to use them though. Let us know what you think!

Can you use semi permanent after permanent dye or not?

If the semi-permanent color is darker than permanent color, yes. Semi-permanent is great for going darker - it's used for going two shades up or down. personally, I've never had it lighten my hair, though.

If you are going darker I would really recommend using semi. Otherwise, you will have to keep coloring your hair because of your roots growing out. Once you go permanent, you really can't go back. Unless you keep using a semi-permanent close to your natural color over and over or keep using permanent dyes. It's a pretty big commitment!

In case you didn't know, semi-permanent washes out after about 28 washes. It can be a good way to keep trying new colors and if you find one you particularly like, then you can to permanent. It's really cheap, too. I use Natural Instincts and it's about 8 dollars I think?

Whatever you decide to do make sure you do your homework and and read up on the differences and reviews!

Haha trying to take all this in.

My hairdresser usually uses demi-permanent dye on me. Which I think is the same thing? She said it's vegetable based so maybe not. I've also gotten permanent dye before as well at the salon.

I am going from a darkish brown red to auburn which I believe is a lighter red.

Confused 🙁 Does ^ change anything?

I just read about semi and demi in wiki lol. They do sound very similar. It says demi is permanent but yet it washes out around 28 shampoos like semi....

It also says semi and demi-permanent look more natural because they don't cover as completely as permanent dye. Basically, if you want one color, permanent will look more solid, thus unnatural. Since you didn't mention highlights, which would add depth to a permanent color, I would stick with semi or demi! Personally, if I were you, I would wait until I could talk to my hairdresser and get her opinion. Then again, I'm obsessed with my hair and try to damage it as little as possible while coloring!

To answer your question, if you want to go to that lighter auburn red, you will most likely need to go with a permanent color like the Couture Color.

Ahhh, thank you for your patience!!

Yeah probably won't get highlights. Even MORE expensive. 🙁 Hah well not damaging it is a good way to go. Maybe I'll also wait and read more reviews. People have loved it so far though, so maybe it could be a little bit less flat than other permanents? The only thing with my hairdresser is she will obviously ask me why I don't ask her to color my hair $$$$. lol, I'll ask anyway. Thanks for the advice. 🙂

My hair color now just FYI so you can see why I need to get it done hahaha:

They totally do. So many different kinds of mascara too!

Awww thank you! : ] I certainly tried. It felt fun... one night where you can wear chunky sparkles and not feel weird about it, at least I didn't. Yes, exactly, like fruits! Haha. Philosophy does tons of seasonal products. The really high end brands don't tend to do tooo much of it though.

Thanks! I'm glad someone gets something positive out of it. Since that is the idea of the thread. I know, I would love to see other looks! Me me me is so boring. 🙂

I asked my hairdresser, she said she has no clue about it and she would only ever use professional lines.... lol. I love her, but ... no helping. :)

Which do you prefer-

matte or shimmery eyeshadows? Or something else?

Lol go figure. I know some salons really push their services because they receive products/equipment if they have good sales. I have a cousin who is a great hair stylist and he told me semi-permanent dyes are just fine. Although you will be using a permanent, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Shimmery! but not glittery....

I feel like my eyes are kind of sunken in and matte shadows just worsen the effect. Shimmery shadows make my eyes "pop"
