Bek, your makeup looks are all great! And your skin looks amazing too! I was wondering if you could recommend some eye makeup ideas for me in particular? Nothing too heavy or too colorful, I'm going to be a freshman in high school, and don't want to wear TOO much makeup 🙂

My eyes are slightly deep-set, and round, and I have fairly large eyelids (a slightly larger than average amount of my eyelid shows with my eyes open). My eyes are light brown, and sometimes look slightly hazel, and my hair is medium brown.

Also, another quick question 🙂 My eyelashes are naturally long and curly, but not especially thick/voluminous. But, if I try to use mascara to plump them up and darken them, it looks reeeally weird. I try to concentrate on adding volume, not length, but my eyelashes still end up looking unnaturally long, to the point where they curl up to touch right below my eyebrows, and leave black marks there :/ Any tips?

Thank you very much!! 🙂

How much eye makeup do you usually wear? I think plums, greens, bronzes, golds, and any warm colors will look amazing on you. Cool colors too, but warm colors will be more harmonious. One fun thing I like to do is not always wear black or brown eyeliner. One time I did a medium brown lid with turquoise liner and it was one of my favorite looks. Don't be afraid to play, you can still be subtle. What kind of looks are you interested in?

Wow that is an interesting dilemma haha. Well one thing that makeup artists do is use a small brush to apply mascara. The brushes can be hard to find but if you have a small, short, stiffer eyeshadow brush at home, paint some mascara onto the brush and apply from the root of your lashes up until it looks more natural and not so super long. Try going midway. I hope that helps!!

Thanks for the mascara tip! I'll definitely try that!

I usually don't wear much eye makeup. Usually brown eyeliner and either gold, brown, or purple eyeshadow, or no eyeshadow at all. But going into high school, I'd be okay with wearing more! I'll try some of the colors you recommended for sure!

I'm mostly interested in more natural looks, but I do also need some more "nighttime"-y looks as well!

Thanks so much for your help! 🙂

Of course, I hope it works out!

Hmmm. So fun 🙂 Have you ever tried winged eyeliner? It can be really retro sexy and not as daring as a red lip if you want to transition into wearing a little more makeup slowly. There a few different color combinations I love doing with it:

- gold, chocolate brown, and shimmery baby pink shadow with black liner

- shimmery medium grey, silver, and darker grey with black liner

- matte taupe and flesh tone eyeshadows with indigo liner

Just a few ideas! I also think a nice hot pink lip would be really pretty on you with earthy eyeshadow and a peach blush! What do you think?

hi!!! i would sayyyyyyy... 20 at most im kinda broke=[ and i realllyy want to try bare minerals but its a little pricy and im not sure if it works very well

Olay 7-in-1 Moisturizer

Olay Night Regenerist

Either one of these might be nice! On sale too, if you can get a free shipping code you are golden. You could get the first cream, layer sunscreen in the morning, and use it alone at night. I also adore Aquaphor. Get a small tube and do a face mask with it and see if it helps!

ALSO:

:)

If any of you have highlights Pravana's Brightening Shampoo is the B-E-S-T. When I use other shampoos my highlights go a tad brassy and once I use this shampoo they are so clear and bright again! Amazing. I also love Redken's Extreme deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner. Making my hair purdy.

As for lip colors, I usually don't wear anything on my lips because my lips are pretty big and full, and I feel like putting any color on makes them look too large. The look sounds great, just I guess I'm sort of afraid of bright lipsticks :/ Do you have any tips for big lips? Again, thanks so much for the great ideas!

Haha so I did 2 looks 1 face. Which one do you guys like better? :)

These I just did real quick to play with colors. I can intensify both of them if need be. I didn't do anything except blush, eyes, and lips so ignore that it's not that put together please! Lol.

You are very welcome, let us know how it goes! Take pictures 🙂

One tip that I've learned is instead of dragging the eyeliner out, start from where you want the tip of the wing and connect the line inwards. It's easier to control it that way and you don't have to go from big to small, which can be tough.

Aw man, I WISH I had bigger lips!! I think they are so pretty. But I can understand your concern. I'd really love to see your face to recommend better. You can either post a picture here or PM me and then I can give you way more detailed advice. 🙂

Ohhh I see. Yeah it can be expensive but I feel like department shades have been the only ones so far to actually match my skin believably. It sucks! But maybe the selection is getting better in the drugstores- better formulations hopefully. I know I used to use Loreal Tru Match but I'm not sure how I would rate it - can't remember. Must have been alright. They do have a lot of shades/tones it seems like. Maybe you could try that? How's the search going?

Hmm, I was thinking about trying that one day! But funny thing is, actually just settled for concealer now! :shifty: I use my almay clear complexion concealer on my spots and has been working out well. Maybe my face just doesn't like foundation. Though another thing I would like to try is the Garnier BB Cream. I've always wanted to try a BB cream, but they don't really sell them anywhere near me.

And I prefer the half with red lips, because I just love when people do bright lips! Sadly, a lot of my friends do concealer lips, and I think they would look so much better with some color.

Haha! Oh well I hope the one you got is wokring out! I am interested in the Garnier version. I have the Dr. Jart BB cream and it's awesome!! 🙂 Maybe you could get it on drugstore.com? They have good deals sometimes.

Oh noooo. The other side is the lightest lip color I ever wear. I feel like it's really hard to look good with the concealer lip look. But your friends must look alright if they do it a lot. I do love a bright lip on myself and others too. It's so fun and cheery.

^^Agreed.

I wish I could post a picture of my makeup I did for my sister's birthday using the naked palette. It's pretty, and I've been wearing it for the last week or so because I really like it. It's got a little bit of purple with it, too. : (

That looks awesome. 😀 I wish I could do coloured lips (aside from very soft pinks and peaches). My lips always seemed too thin to have darker colours on. I love red lipstick too but it's just like this violent slash across my face or something. Augh. My best friend does red lipstick perfectly because she has gigantic lips and a nice cupid's bow. Me? Not sooo much...

Why is your ear shaped like an ear? 'Cause it's an ear. I know, I know... I'm practically a scientist. 😆

I just order Dermaflage, a new product that fills in scars on top of the skin. Works great! It is kinda expensive but I think it is worth it. Wanted to tell everyone else about it- works better than any foundation I have tried.

Hahah poor thing, I have close set eyes too!! I like to do a shimmery cream or taupe powder over my lids, a medium brown or charcoal or purple in the crease and eyeliner around the outer corners, and a little eyeliner in the waterline of the inner eyes. I will do a picture tomorrow so it makes more sense. :)

Awwwuh! Just try a nice berry-mauvey color and add gold lipgloss in the center. I think you can pull it off! smile.png I loooove red lipstick. Hahahah you scientist you. I feel like it's looks weird on top!

I should try that, I think because I have quite large eyes I've always focused so much on them, that I never really "learned" (I make myself sound like an incapable moron here) to do much with my lips. I'm better off than my younger sister though in the lip department. She has a beautiful little face, porcelain complexion, ENORMOUS brown eyes and naturally dense black eyelashes, but her lips are just a line across her face. Definitely a gift from our mother. Still, I would trade faces with her. 😆 My older sister is just an alien amongst us, she's blonde, blue-eyed and pixie features, waif-thin and long-legged. I want to beat her up for being so pretty (a reasonable reaction to somebody being pretty hahaha).

Well, you could show everyone your skincare routine, or different makeup styles or do a haul when you buy cosmetics. You could start anywhere really. Maybe start off with an everyday natural look for girls who don't have alot of time or don't wanna wear alot of makeup. I have trouble mastering the natural look myself. LOL

That's true! I just ordered a shitload from ACW. And a few things from Beauty Ticket. Including a bronzing kit from Lola. Maybe I could start with a natural spring/summer look. Natural I can do. smile.gif Great ideas.. hmm smile.gif

I hate to be a downer. But when women are on BCP's such as YAZ, YASMIN, Ocella, Orthotrycyclin, etc., they are the only reason your faces have cleared up. While on those BCP's you could NOT wash your face everyday of your life, rub your face in cooking oil, then run outside and rub dirt on it, and you still wouldn't break out. Those birth control pills contain ANDROGEN BLOCKERS (Google it) which prevent your skin from making excess oil (the cause of breakouts). While these pills are great for your skin, they may not be great for your body long term. Many women have reported trouble conceiving after having been on the pill long term, and other annoying side effects, and as soon as you get of the pill, your skin issues will return. Period. The best and only way to get your acne under control is topically, unless you want to be on BCP's the rest of your life. Just sayin folks.

Hahaha. Well when one feature is prominent it's only natural to focus on it. My lips are normal and my eyes are normal too so that's probably why I've played with both. Your sisters sound lovely 🙂 My sister is a beauty too... sometimes you just have to look away! LOL. She is at the place where I used to be- when every piece of clothing you try on makes you look slim and shapely. Darn 16 year olds. Sometimes I feel like beatings too... mostly in the case of gorgeous strangers wafting by when I am with my man. Lol.

Hey,

Not sure if you are relating this to the post you quoted?? Confusing. Anyhow, I've only been Ocella for under a month and I still get small breakouts...

For Halloween I went as Poison Ivy. I used a light green all over my lid, dark sparkly green on the outer and in the socket and also for contouring. I cut up pieces of artificial ivy and stuck them to my eyebrows with eyelash adhesive. Usual routine with foundation and blush etc.

I did have some fabulous eyelashes to put on but I became far too drunk to apply them in the end.

Halloween is the best day to have fun with makeup!
