No problem. ^_^ You should get around to changing your signature since you are no longer "in the process of" becoming an esthetician.

Thank you girl, I'm definitely not, but I try my best to fake it 😉

Well congratulations on that! What is your skin care routine? That is the #1 most important thing when it comes to dry skin/red marks/applying makeup. If you have a good skin care setup everything else is much easier. Do you have a budget for the makeup? What color is your hair?

Hmmm. 🙂

Do you use moisturizer and/or SPF? You might want to switch cleansers, cocoa butter cleansers can be drying if they have the wrong ingredients. Does your skin get oily at all?

I think bronzes, golds, greens, and purples would be pretty on you! If you want something to pick up easily and play with Maybelline's plush shadows are actually comparable to higher end brands. Very nice color, especially with a primer underneath.

Bek, your makeup looks are all great! And your skin looks amazing too! I was wondering if you could recommend some eye makeup ideas for me in particular? Nothing too heavy or too colorful, I'm going to be a freshman in high school, and don't want to wear TOO much makeup :)

My eyes are slightly deep-set, and round, and I have fairly large eyelids (a slightly larger than average amount of my eyelid shows with my eyes open). My eyes are light brown, and sometimes look slightly hazel, and my hair is medium brown.

Also, another quick question :) My eyelashes are naturally long and curly, but not especially thick/voluminous. But, if I try to use mascara to plump them up and darken them, it looks reeeally weird. I try to concentrate on adding volume, not length, but my eyelashes still end up looking unnaturally long, to the point where they curl up to touch right below my eyebrows, and leave black marks there :/ Any tips?

BEKkkkk. You are literally glowing in the picture! You're beautiful. I'm so jealous of your skin!

Okay, I'm confused about my undertone, Bek. I've tried the vein trick, and I have blue veins, which means that I have pink undertones right? Well, I've tried a few foundations, and I've come to notice that my body seems to have yellow undertones; while my face is very pink. Is that possible? Or do you think it is just my acne that makes it seem pink?

How much eye makeup do you usually wear? I think plums, greens, bronzes, golds, and any warm colors will look amazing on you. Cool colors too, but warm colors will be more harmonious. One fun thing I like to do is not always wear black or brown eyeliner. One time I did a medium brown lid with turquoise liner and it was one of my favorite looks. Don't be afraid to play, you can still be subtle. What kind of looks are you interested in?

Wow that is an interesting dilemma haha. Well one thing that makeup artists do is use a small brush to apply mascara. The brushes can be hard to find but if you have a small, short, stiffer eyeshadow brush at home, paint some mascara onto the brush and apply from the root of your lashes up until it looks more natural and not so super long. Try going midway. I hope that helps!!

Ohhh accutane. Awesome on the SPF!! 🙂 What is your budget? I can recommend products/treatments but it would be helpful to have a ballpark #!

Tacogirl, you are too sweet! 🙂

Blue veins mean you have cool undertones, so pinker, yes. Hmmm. Which foundations have you tried? Drugstore, department? Just curious. Acne can make your face seem pinker overall, especially if you have sensitive skin that gets redness easily. So are you saying that the pink undertones in the foundation don't match what you feel are true yellow undertones?

Foundation is so tricky sometimes haha!

Haha!

Well, I've only tried drugstore foundations, because I don't really have the money for department, teheh, but I've tried Neutrogena Skin Clearing (classic ivory), a few from physicians formula that I'm unsure of the names.., Covergirl clean for oily skin, and one powder foundation by Clinique. Though, right now I am using my Neutrogena Skin-clearing, I'm just not happy with it. Not only is the shade a little off, when I first put it on it emphasizes dry patches (I have oily skin but the meds make my skin veryyyy dry) so I'm looking for a different one. Oh, and also, as for shade, I'm pretty light, but not extremely pale. And whenever I'm out in the sun, I'll usually tan.

And yes, I think pink undertones in the foundation don't match with my skin which I think has yellow undertones.. Oh, so very confusing!

Thanks for the mascara tip! I'll definitely try that!

I usually don't wear much eye makeup. Usually brown eyeliner and either gold, brown, or purple eyeshadow, or no eyeshadow at all. But going into high school, I'd be okay with wearing more! I'll try some of the colors you recommended for sure!

I'm mostly interested in more natural looks, but I do also need some more "nighttime"-y looks as well!

Thanks so much for your help! 🙂

I usually have the problem of not being able to find enough foundations WITH pink undertones.

Revlon colorstay basically is just for yellow undertones, which still makes me sad because I used to like wearing that.

Loreal true match is a little bit better selection wise.

Cleaning out my room, such a long and torturous task, and I found more makeup! Haha yay! I have 2 of the Pixi (from Target) natural mineral kits. It has 4 eyeshadow shades, 1 powder blush shade, 1 cream blush shade, and 2 lip gloss shades. Pretty good sizes too considering it's a kit. So I just did a natural look with it! I love it. I think I am going to try and use different (color) products everyday until I use all of them! I have a lot of makeup I don't use often enough. Woot!

Ohhh I see. Yeah it can be expensive but I feel like department shades have been the only ones so far to actually match my skin believably. It sucks! But maybe the selection is getting better in the drugstores- better formulations hopefully. I know I used to use Loreal Tru Match but I'm not sure how I would rate it - can't remember. Must have been alright. They do have a lot of shades/tones it seems like. Maybe you could try that? How's the search going?
