I'm glad because for a whole my skin was making me feel hopeless, and things have taken a 180 turn and I feel way more confident! Imagine how much better things will be with time, some people say 6-12 months cleared them for good and the negative things I've read have always been only a couple months into the treatment.

I'm on week 6 and i feel so horrible. How is your progress at week 10?

I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling that way, but I can honestly tell you I was feeling very similarly at week 6. At week 8 I was even still not feeling good about my skin. My progress at week 11 is 100% clear and it has been for around more than 2 weeks. I've only gotten the really small bumps that don't compare to the big pustules I was getting after 1 month. I didn't think my purging stage would end but It did, it slowed down a lot at 8 weeks and it was getting a lot better but with this medication it's easy to overlook the fact that it takes lots of time. I'm really lucky Im clear in only 11 weeks time. I still have red marks but I cover them up for school and my skin looks really great.

So I'm really sorry you're feeling down because I felt really down on this medication too for a while, the fact is its a curse at first but the sad thing about acne medications is that a lot of them have to purge you in order to work. ill keep updating anyways but I'm feeling great about my skin right now and it's the best it's ever been. I just want epiduo / tactuo users to know it gets better cause I thought it neverrrr would the first month.

Hello,

I am a new user to this website. I came across this thread when researching about tactuo, which my GP prescribed me approx. a month ago. I am unsure whether or not I should get it from the pharm as it is very costly. I have had a severe closed comedone (whiteheads, non-inflammatory) problem for about 8+ years now. I am 23. I have at least 150 (probably more) on both cheeks, both sides of chin, and forehead areas. So basically I am wondering, did you have any of these types of pimples, and if so, did you find tactuo helped?

My doctor only exists to hand out prescriptions, so i would appreciate any and all help, thank you :)

My acne started out like this but it soon turned into much worse (pustules) with those bumps. I found the cream worked on those bumps really well! I found they got rid of most of them without then turning into pimples (only a few did), but not all of them if that is what you're afraid of :) give it a try, give it the full 12 weeks before making a decision. Oh and take photos of your progress!! I'm so glad I did that :)

I think the most important thing to remember is that a breakout doesn't mean the treatment isn't working, I get so frustrated when I breakouy. Today I got a bump on my cheek and its small but it's frustrating being clear for so long and then bam, even if it's super duper tiny I get a little frustrated.

Everytime I get a spot the time increases between the next spot and so on.

That's my update though, little spot but such pretty skin otherwise it's not something I should get hung up over.

I don't cringe or prepare myself to look in the mirror anymore ... How great it that.

I'm curious why you wait 15 mins to apply epiduo after washing and an hour after applying epido to apply moisturizer? Is there a philosophy behind that?

Thank you for your reply. I will most likely give it a try, i just do not want to keep wasting money on products that do not work. In the past year these whiteheads really started to bother me and i've spent about a thousand dollars trying to remedy this problem i've had for years. My whiteheads never ever turn into inflammatory pimples of any kind, they never get to a head. I have literally had the same 20 whiteheads on my right cheek since i was 14, its just that more pop up and stay there for years. My face is one giant closed comedone.

I wait to so long basically to make sure its completely dry before

And also zedz I've never heard of that , It sounds more like milia than whiteheads but I'm sure you know better than me. I would definitely suggest getting more professional opinions but I had pretty bad acne and Epiduo worked for me well, there's no harm in giving it a try.

I wish they were milia lol, i think that would even be easier to get rid of these. They can be popped; this whiteish/yellowish kinda soft but not liquid substance comes out of all of them (i know, gross, sorry for the visual). I do not have any around the eyes, only both cheeks and forehead and both sides of chin. Their color is identical to my skin color also, they do not look like pearls. Also, when I pop one, the same one comes back by the next day, and only gets larger. I haven't popped any in MONTHS. I am planning on going to a walk in clinic to get a referral to a derm since my GP won't send me. However, to be honest I am not so confident that a derm can help. All they can do is experiment on my face, which I've already been doing to no avail. Again I thank you for your replies. I will probably give tactuo a try. Afterall, what's another $150 ? lol

That's too bad that it's so expensive for you.. It's free for me because Canadian healthcare

I would suggest you try it for 3 months but if it isn't doing anything at all for you it could be time for something stronger if possible

Tomorrow's my 12 weeks and to be honest I broke out a bit this week, not too badly or anything just one pimple on my cheek it's actually a small whitehead but its lingered for a few days without me touching it. Other than the breakout under my eye a week ago I haven't had anything else noticeable. This was because I was on my period. It happens. The results so far have been great and my skin is clear aside from one side of my cheek that has the whitehead and an individual dark mark that has faded only slightly for a month. I can't wait to update with more good news

I want anyone reading this to now how much better my skin has gotten in these 3 months. Yes it's not perfect but acne sufferers usually arent begging for perfection , more so improvement. So I'm happy I did this

I also wanted to mention that I have the neostrata skin renewal 10% glycol peel that I use only on the dark spot I mentioned, (it's helped a lot) and I do honey masks because they're so soothing.

I've had a dry red patch on my chin for a while that's not going away haha, I don't even put the retinoid there :/

What are you doing for your scars? I'm finally getting clearer but my scars are still there! i know improvement in less than 2 months is too much to ask though! haha

Well I use honey on my face for both scars and acne. Now that my face is clear it's nice for scars. As I mentioned before I also have a 10% glycolic exfoliation peel from nneostrata that has helped but my scars don't bug me much anymore they're very small

Interesting thread! I'm two weeks off of accutane and my derm gave me epiduo to manage... I've had a couple of tiny, dry red blips show up but no massive pimples so haven't used it yet..

Hopefully I won't have to, but we'll see! :) congrats on your progress!

I have just finished week 4 on Epiduo. I seem to just be making it to the other side of the initial breakout (Fingers Crossed)...Which has been horrible btw!

I'm only applying it on my neck and shoulders as I rarely get breakouts on my face any more, so i thought I'd see what kind of results I get before putting my face through the torture haha!

Did you experience alot of redness and itching aswell?

Got a good feeling about this and hope it works for me like it has for you! Derm has mentioned putting me on Accutane but I just don't think I can put myself through it!

Im sure the initial breakout will be difficult but it will subside!

I got itchy and red too, I still wake up with red spots in areas that were too concentrated and itchy dry spots but I almost have 0 breakouts at all times in my problem areas and if I do get one it's a very small bump which shouldn't concern me and usually doesn't.

This is my 6th month on the treatment and I'm just updating to comment that it has cleared my skin perfectly and I don't worry about acne anymore even if I get the odd spot

:)
