Hi! I'm new to acctaune. I'm on my 19th day (almost 3 weeks) and my skin is getting worse? I take 20mg, I am going to increase to 30mg when my one month is up. I know dry skin and lips are a common side effect, but when do I notice my skin is clearing up.

I live in Japan so maybe doctors are different, but they said I shouldn't be getting new pimples at all.

Can anyone educate me? Is breaking out more normal? When do I get start seeing a difference?

yes, I have been on it for like 10 weeks and I'm healing now but still breaking out as well. I have heard that it usually stays the same or gets worse for the first 2 months, heals mostly in months 3 and 4, and then the rest is just overkill to get yourself up the cumulative dosage. This is not true for everyone, but is a common path.

To answer your question, it is normal to break out more before you get better. Your skin is purging from the accutane.

Yes it is normal. Accutane clears people up at different rates. This is my second course. During my first course years ago, I stopped breaking out after week 4. However, I'm in week 7 of my second course and still breaking out.

My first course I cleared up within a month. My second course I broke out right upto month 4 or 5. It's common and different for every person there's no set path for how accutane works but hold tight - you will definitely see results eventually :)
