It's not ugly, don't do yourself down. You're working on your skin and taking steps to fix things so try your best to stay positive and focus on your progress. You know, I reckon your skin will clear up great in the end. Fingers crossed!
Hey Paul, thanks a lot. That put a smile on my face thank you again!
I agree with Paul! Besides, I think you have beautiful skin. When the spots fade (and they will!), you're going to look amazing.
Thanks a lot Nikki!
your skin looks so smooth! very jealous x x
Hehe, almost but not quite! x
I def. agree..Your skin does look smooth!
Wow. I just looked at your pics before .. What in the heck.. What did you do to get it that much better?
Thank you. Well, I think I know.. on the 25th of November I started cleansing my face 2x a day with oatmeal, I think it's made a difference in my appearance. It's refined and made my skin glow which I love! I moisturise afterwards as well, but I know oatmeal is the big changer here hope that helps! x
Ugh, everyone's doing the oatmeal thing. I'm still confused on what you do.. How you use it..I kinda want to try it out.
Well I use it like so: wet my face with warm water, get a small handful of oatmeal in my palm and make a fist and run it under water, and the water that slips through the cracks in my fist make the oatmeal softer. I then apply with both hands all over my face and gently buff it into my skin for at least a minute. Then I take it off with a face cloth and pat
my face dry
Here's a YouTube tutorial on how to do it if you're still unsure:
It's the same one I used
Also just a question, does Roaccutane have to be taken at the same time every day for it to work?
Hi love - how do you manage to get your pictures straight onto your post? I can only get them so you have to click a link to open the,,,,plus today acne.org has decided I am only allowd to upload pictures less than 1KB which is rather silly... x x
Just replied to your log
Day 8.
I knew as soon as I got off the Duac my face would react! I have a small cyst about a fingers length away from the side of my mouth, and a whitehead in the middle of my left cheek and a tiny bump next to it. Or it may even be the start of my IB..
My face and lips are still good, although I feel my lips will start getting dry because I have a terrible habit of picking the skin off it (so gross, sorry) does anyone know of a way to stop it?
Joint pain is getting a little worse, my calves HURT like a bitch! Haven't felt that in a long time I'm not really complaining though, I'd rather have all these side effects in return for gorgeous skin!
Also on totally unrelated news, my friend got engaged last night on her and her boyfriends (now fiance;) last night in Singapore. So happy for her! I can't wait till I get married!!
Wouldnt that oatmeal thing be too harsh on your skin, if you still have alot of active acne? If not, I might just give it a try.
That's what I thought as well, but it's very gentle on the face because once it's wet it's sort of mushy? But yeah, it's up to you whether you want to give it a try or not. It works for me
Hey, good luck to you too =)
I'm very tempted to try out this oatmeal thing, I'm amazed at the difference it has made for your skin. It looks so smooth! How long did it take for you to notice an improvement?
Edit: my sister is interested too and she's wondering if it removes make-up!?
For your dry lips I would recommend this
Apparently it works miracles for people with dry lips whilst on Accutane. I purchased some today, my lips were cracking and 5mins after I put it on they got extremely smooth and still are 4 hours later. I'm only on my second day so I don't think the dryness was attributed to Accutane, but it still work wonders none the less.

Well then.. I may just try it out I always have a thing of Organic oats sitting in my cabinet.. And as for taking Accutane at the same time a day, I don't think you have to take it at the exact same time everyday but I would take it around the time you'd normally take it. So it stays in your bloodstream.

It took about a week to get to get to the stage I'm at now. And as for your sister wanting to know if it removes make-up, no, as it's not strong enough. I'd recommend her just taking it off with make-up wipes or a gentle cleanser first then proceeding with the oatmeal
And yes, I've heard wonderful things about AquaPhor, but I don't think they sell it here in Australia!

Well get to it! and thank you for answering my question!
Do you use the oatmeal cleanser morning and night for you normal cleanser? Your skin looks great already but looking at your pictures, by the way! I've been on Accutane for 6 weeks now, and this oatmeal thing might help me out!
Thank you and yes, I use it night and day in place of a normal cleanser.
DON'T DO IT! lol. You don't want a scar there!
Lastnight I tried the Oatmeal out on my arm lol. As a test (my upper arms are sensitive like my face).. It kinda made my arm red so Idk =/
Too late it did while in the shower with the heat and whatnot! Hopefully it won't turn out too bad.. at least it's gone now. Yeah that happened to me the first couple of days I tried the oatmeal out on my face, it felt sort of hot and my face did go a little red but it's now passed that stage. I think it's just your skin adjusting to a new product. But if you are uncertain on using it because you don't want a reaction, maybe the best thing to do is to not use it. It's entirely your choice though!
Day 10.
So I have a few new side effects to report. The past couple of days I've been wondering why the middle of my back was sore when it was leaning against something, I had a look and nothing was there. I had a look today and there's a HUGE cyst/whitehead sitting prettily right in the middle. I'm not kidding, it's actually so big. It hurts so much! I think it may be the beginning of the dreaded IB, because I've never had breakouts on any part of my body apart from my face. Anyway I'm hoping it goes away soon because it's just annoying having it throb.
Also I am clear of oiliness!! I haven't washed my hair for maybe 5 days (disgusting, but I've been too busy) and usually I need to wash it every 2 days because it gets so oily, but it's normal like so happy.. I will be washing it within the hour so don't be too grossed out!
Anddd, I just looked in the mirror before and noticed all these blackheads on my nose! WTF I've never noticed blackheads there before, does Roaccutane just push them up out of the skin or something?! It's gross. Is there a gentle, yet effective way I can remove them without irritating my skin? My lips are getting dry too, they literally soak up my lip balm within minutes of applying! Or maybe I need to get a new one.. Lol.
Anyway I'm talking too much. Hope you guys have a lovely weekend! And I will update on Sunday night xxxxx

& For the Lip Balm u may want to try something else if ur lips are drying right after application. I use Doctor Bronners chapstick.. I really like it. =)
Hi bigdreams!
It's good to see another Aussie on here!
In regards to your 20mg a day, I too, was started on the same dosage. Even though I was an 19 year old, 80kg man.
In time, your dosage will be upped. It all depends on if your liver can take it.
For your lips: http://www.thegoodstore.com.au/d46-137/lucas-paw-paw-ointment/
Get it at any Safeway or Coles. It's approximately $10 for the big tub; but it's hell worth it.
I still use this as I occasionally get a tight top lip (1 year out of Accutane...) when it gets a taste of the sun.
Small price to pay for clear skin.

Yay! *high-5*
And I've been using that papaw ointment for a few years now, how good is it? I think my problem where it doesn't stay on long is because I have a habit of rubbing my lips together, all the time and I always dab a little off because I hate it transferring around my mouth. But thank you for helping out!
Just a question, how is your skin doing now? Is it 100% clear or do you get a small breakout every now and then?
Yep- the black heads are a completely normal accutane side effect. DO NOT touch them! They will eventually go away on their own and your nose will be be like a babys bottom
. Good luck on your course...I'm about a week ahead of you.
Oh phew! can't wait to see how our skin is at the end of the course
