Hey guys, I decided to start my own Roaccutane Log as I am expecting my script in the mail within the next week. I guess I should introduce myself and give a little history on my acne.
I'm 18 yo and I reside in Australia. I have suffered with acne for about three years now and it has been hard. I used to get a breakout only around 'that time of the month' and then it used to be one almost every day. Sometimes my skin looks awesome, like I don't have acne and the next my face is totally different. It's so frustrating and upsetting, I'm sure all of you know how it feels! I have tried EVERYTHING on the market, you name it, I've tried it.
I'm currently on a regimen that has my face 95% clear (I will post that at the end) but I still get the occasional cyst. I visited a Derm Wednesday just gone and he automatically prescribed me on Roaccutane after hearing my story. I took the required blood test on Friday, and as soon as he gets the results he will be mailing out my script!
I seriously can't wait, since a terrible outbreak, and I mean terrible, at the beginning of this year, I haven't socialised with anyone, I haven't gone out, that's how bad it was I've attached a photo of it so you can see just how bad it was.
Anyway enough rambling, I'm sure you're all sick of it I just hope and pray Roaccutane is the thing for me and I no longer have to suffer with this horrible infliction anymore!
CURRENT REGIMEN
am
Wash face with Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Cleanser
Moisturise with Caroline's Cream
pm
Wash face with Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Cleanser
Apply Duac Once Daily Topical Gel over face
I've also attached a couple of photos of using Duac after that outbreak (in grey hoodie). It cleared things up TREMENDOUSLY. My skin is a lot better since those photos but I just wanted to show you that Duac does work
Wow, your skin is looking quite good now! Are you going to continue using the duac while on accutane?
Let's hope accutane kicks it out of your system for good
Thank you that is a couple months old so my skin is different now from then, just one active on my left cheek. I don't know if using topicals is allowed whilst on Roaccutane. Do you know if it will affect it?

Well, since your skin is probably going to be dry and sensitive, I think you can better just stick with moisturizer. On the other hand I'm one month in and my skin is not dry nor sensitive, so maybe it's fine... Might want to check with your dermatologist 😉

I most certainly will good luck with Roaccutane hun!
Aww I'm so sorry you de-socialized. /: That's when you know it's really worth it to try anything. I'd say accutane is worth it just from what I hear and from what I'm experiencing so far lol. I'm only about two weeks into it and I haven't died! lol my sister kept telling me that I shouldn't take it because she was afraid i would die. And then I had to keep reminding her that there was a reason that there are blood tests every month, and that's to make sure that you don't die! hahaha. I hope my next one allows me to keep taking accutane because I'm already seeing improvement. I did have an IB around day 8 or so but I'm only on day 12 and it's already clearing up like crazy fast. And I don't think I'll have another IB unless I up my dose or something...
Anyways, good luck! You deserve it! Your skin looks pretty good after duac, but I'm sure accutane will do even more and probably clear you up for good

I know, I stopped having a life after that it's seriously so depressing. I already suffer from social anxiety, so you can imagine how terrible this was for me! Haha. LOL I was so scared to try Roaccutane after hearing all the horror stories, but I finally decided enough was enough, it's time to do something for me and my skin.
Thank you so much! I'll keep checking your log and see how you're doing good luck!

I'm so sorry! That's the worst. But yeah, accutane probably won't do anything more than cause everything to be dry, like your nose, lips, scalp, eyes, and face! And if it does do anything more than that which concerns you, all you have to do is tell your doctor & you'll be safe Just don't keep it a secret lol. I'd say back pain and headaches (especially in the first week--this freaked me out, I thought I was going to have brain damage hahah but it's extremely common--most people get these the first few days) are common and you shouldn't really need to report them to your doctor. I got one on day 2 and day 5 but after that, I can't really complain!
But every time I lay down, my spine like aches for a couple of seconds because it's really tight, but then it slowly loosens...lol it's weird. But I hear that's common as well, and it subsides after a while. Blah. However, I'm sure it's worth if for you, as it is for me :]

I feel you, I used to go clubbing with friends on a weekly basis before my face flared up very quickly...Now I haven't been to a single club for 4 months and the 'clubbing season' started just at the same time, after our big exams ended
Anyways, good luck with your course and hope isotretinoin works well for you!

It sucks doesn't it 18 is the legal age to go out here, but I haven't. Not even once. It's not really a big deal but it just sucks that I let acne take over my social life like that. And thank you so much! I hope it does too. *crosses fingers*
Good luck if you're also on it
No, not everyone gets one... theres still a lot of unanswered uestions about this drug methinks...
...but I do think thats one of the reasons they start some people (like me!) on a half dose to try and ease you into the side effects.... I'm also hoping I'm not going to get one as my face can't get much worse!!! x x

Oh ok, thanks for that! I wish I knew what dose I am being put on, it would make it easier to compare to other people then. Oh well! xx
Hey
I wish you good luck with Accutane! Seems like just few days ago I started but now its my 4th month! Even if I have few side effects (rash on hands, thinning hair, facial hair....) I still do no regret I started Accutane! My face is soo much better than when I started, cant even compare.
I was also reading some people do not experience IB.. Unfortunately I think I did, it was pretty late, around my 2nd month or later.
I was feeling like I didnt want to go out of the house, but well... time passed and its all in the past now.
So whatever your situation is - think - It will pass and you are gonna be 100% clear!
P.S. Do you know what dosage you are gonna get?
Best of luck!
Melinda.

Hey Melinda!
Thank you so much I know the side effects will suck, but I just have to bear with it all because I'm getting clear skin in the end, so what's there to complain about?
All I hope is that my IB will not be bad! I don't think I can handle it otherwise. And I'm not sure what my dosage is yet I should be finding out within a few days when it finally comes in the mail and I shall let you all know then
Thank you again, and your face will only continue to get clearer so hang in there!
Best of luck to you too,
Evelyn.
I hear oatmeal is good and gentle yes...
I've just started using sebamed liquid facewash and thats really gentle and pH neutral... seems to be good so far and has not broken me out but i've only used it for 2 days so far. I think i would use oatmealif I was home more often.... but I travel all over playing gigs, and also stay at boyfriends/friends houses a lot so its not quite as convenient to lug a box of porridge around with you hehe x x x
Oatmeal cleanser is great - if your skin is clean...!
I actually grind them in food processor (or blender) to have a smoother feeling on my skin.
Sometimes, I still feel its not enough (for a cleasner) so I use other cleanser (just 1/3 of of Proactiv Make up Removing Cloth - it takes of some oiliness or dirt better than Oatmeal). Oatmeal cleanser might also be little too drying (If used twice a day, at least for me), so have to use good moisturizer afterwards.

Lol carrying around a box of oatmeal would be funny. I tried it today for the first time and it feels so good and the smell.. The smell makes me want to eat it! Haha xx

Awesome. I must wash my face twice a day, so I guess I should invest in a good moisturiser thanks for the tips!
