Day 92
I bring you pictures! Oh, and news. I am going to start using only 1 pump of BP in the morning and 2 at night because the irritation and redness in my skin goes down A LOT when I do this.
The difference between bare-face and makeup...just so you all are aware.
Cheers all! =)
Hey gorgeous girl! I've just cottoned on to your log and have read right from the start to your last post and checked out your photos. WOW! Seriously, your face is virtually clear in the last photos! It looks like the regimen is really working for you which is fantastic.
I can't use BP, it literally burns my skin, I think I am allergic to it. I've tried on two seperate occassions. The first time I used it over my entire face it burnt my skin so bad I could barely move it and had to stay in the house for two weeks until it peeled=0 The 2nd time was when I bought a low strength bp product thinking it was the dosage that was the problem when I first used it and put that on my face but it had the same effect, luckily in a much lower case of severity this time due to the lower dose, so after about a week it was 'burn' free again.
But I feel your pain with the redness these products can cause. The exfoliants I use are salicylic acid and lactic acid and I can use them fine, but even if I use slightly more of them they can irratate and dry out my face leaving it soo so red. I have to be careful and always generous when I moisterise.
But if you find AHA to irratating, once you've stopped breaking out you could try lactic acid which I can use fine and it REALLY does fade the red marks quickly. My red marks hang around for years really, I know how you feel woman, I am just so glad I have freckles lol. But this really speeds them up and they are virtually gone within a few months! Also if you check out green colour correcting concealers and primers, these are my saviour! I use a green coloured primer which virtually eliminates my redness and holds my powder on nicely all day. I can't use liquid foundations as they are always too orange( I am THE palest person you will ever meet) and they make me look cakey. But I use a benefit hello flawless powder spf in ivory and that goes on amazingly over the primer! leaving me like i have no makeup on at all I really love it. It has a lovely airbrush texture aswell, you can really blend it in and it still gives great coverage. Deffo recommend!
But congrats woman, I think you are now reeping the rewards of your months of hard work, so enjoy it! =D Love you xXxxxXx
Day 93
Thank you Ariana and Erin! I love you ladies!
I do have a question. I posed it in a recent post but it probably was lost amongst the long paragraphs...
I am going on a Spring Break trip in a week and we will be backpacking and generally enjoying the great outdoors. When I go on these trips I don't worry about using anything on my face. The best I do is using a baby wipe. Now, last time I went backpacking I wasn't using anything for my face anyways, so I didn't see a big difference. To what extent do you all think it will backslide my progress if I don't use the regimen for a week?
It's really out of the question to even take it.
This is the only downside I see to the regimen. If you like outdoorsy activities, it's not feasible. Well, you could say that about any skin care regimen. haha.
Cheers all, I am going to immerse myself in the world of academic literature to cram for a test tomorrow!
Wow, Kai, that's quite some improvement!
As for the backpacking trip (lucky you!): can't you incorporate some kind of "regimen light" version? I wouldn't skip it completely, just less strict/time consuming. Wash, apply BP (just not as much, so it dries/absorps more quickly) and moisturizer. Just a thought.
Gotta agree with AKL, that's what I would do. Even if you just put it on once a day, it's better than nothing. If you skip a week it probably won't be a disaster, but I would bet you will get a breakout that will probably take a week or so to recover from. On the other hand, could be an interesting experiment?
Day 110
Hello lovelies! Sorry for the lack of updates, the insanity of school before and after spring break caught up with me!
So, on spring break (March 11-20) I didn't use product on my face hardly at all. I was in Arkansas either canoeing, hiking, or camping, and it just wasn't feasible. I think the most I did was wipe my face off with a baby wipe for a few days. My skin DID break out a bit, but nothing drastic. I refuse to compromise my life for skincare.
I will say that my skin has the burning sensation again from the BP. I currently use one pump in the morning and two at night. Anymore than that and my skin is crazy burnt. I took these pictures this morning to show you all. The light isn't as clear as last time but I was between classes and used whatever sunlight I had.
I also got a bit of a sunburn/sort of tan on my face, so that is why i'm not quite as pale. I swear I wore sunscreen! At least one of the days. haha.

you silly! Still....beautiful as ever. But you need to smile more, or I'll have to take measures
Good luck with the school insanities, you can do it!
Day 113
AKL, what measures exactly, hmmm?!
Things are going pretty well. My skin had a breakout on the left, but it didn't come to a head, which is something I LOVE about BP. The burning sensation seems to have gone down as well.
We shall see what the next month or so hold. My own problem with the regimen is that it's not convienent, and my lifestyle makes it hard at times to spend 20 minutes doing the regimen correctly.
Day 121
My skin is doing pretty good. I have one spot on my right cheek right now and a few smaller spots.
I just wanted to share a couple pictures. I am wearing makeup here but it was my birthday yesterday, so I dressed up a bit. haha
French food with my favorite man.
Hope you all are doing well.
Day 129
Well....my skin is doing pretty well, but I still have minor breakouts and significant redness. Then again, my skin tone is tinged pink naturally so, not really that big of a deal. haha. I don't have any new pictures yet, but I'll take some too to show you all my progression.
Honestly, the regimen has worked wonders in keeping my skin to the level I am comfortable with. I never aspired to perfect skin, and it's improved drastically so I am pretty satisfied.
The only concern I have is that I still get large pimples out of the blue once in a while. I wonder if that could be hormonal?
I hope you all are doing well. Much love!
Day 136
Well...I have to say I'm pretty happy with my skin right now! I still have a few red marks that need to fade but no big breakouts at the moment.
I'l post some pictures soon. =) I just marvel at how far my skin has come in the past few months...look back at the first pictures and my recent ones. That can happen for you too...patience is the key.
Stay beautiful all!
Day 138
New pictures!
The view most people see day to day haha
So, I still use only one pump of BP in the morning and 1.5 at night. My skin realllllly cannot handle more. I am also a little concerned because it's HOT here in texas (90's all week) and the sun is bright. My skin felt like it was burning slightly just from being outside for 20-30 minutes. I don't really know what to do to counteract that because I love being outdoors and I won't stay inside just for the sake of my skin.
Hope you all are doing well. =)
Day 153
Hello all! It has been a little while... I am doing well, the end of the semester is approaching and I am starting to become swamped with work. Ah well, such is life...it's my senior year so only a couple summer classes stand between me and graduation! How exciting! =)
How are you all?
As for my acne, well, I get a bit of a breakout around that time of the month, but my acne these days is pretty mild. The regimen hasn't ever gotten my skin 100% clear, just so you know. But it's good enough for me. My red marks are still fading, it just takes a lot of time.
Patience all, and hope you are doing well. <3
Day 168
It's been a little while...how are you all?
Not sure if anyone reads this anymore. I don't really have any updated pictures of just my skin, but here is how my skin generally looks in the sunlight.
I always love seeing before and after pictures and imagining the same victorious feeling that people get with the elimination/major reduction of acne It's also really great to see that you don't let it inhibit you from living life how you want to live it! Are you using anything in particular to treat the redness? It seems like for most people it subsides after some time once the skin gets used to the BP. Best wishes for you!
Day 176
Cheers all!
tim - No, I am not using anything to treat the redness. The hyperpigmentation is slooooowly fading (turtle speed!) and the rest of the redness doesn't bother me as much. My face seems overall less red than in past months. I know around month 2 or 3 the redness was pretty awful. I looked perpetually sunburned...what a sight to behold!
Overall, still minor breakouts but nothing huge lately. I am decently satisfied and generally pressing on with life. How is life for my other valiant Daniel Kern Regimen users? Good I hope!
hey i've been testing a bunch.. i've tried neutrogena oil-free for sensitive skin (don't like it, not very moisturizing), complex 15 (best one yet, but no spf
), olay complete for sensitive skin with spf 15 (this is the one i use the most, it goes on smooth and is really moisturizing but leaves a bit of a shine!) and the olay complete spf 30 (not very moisturizing, doesn't take care of flakes)
hope you find one you like! i'd tell you to do jojoba masks/use jojoba oil w your moisturizer, but i'm positive you already know that lol
You say that your skin is sensitive but I can't even see any redness on the pics you posted at the beginning when you said it would be very red.
I've been using 1/2 pump or even less (don't know, I use a tube) for about 3 weeks now and only at night and my face is very red and dry - to a point where I can barely move my mouth after cleansing.
Did you experience this as well? I mean, I don't know how much less BP I have to use to stop looking as if I had a sunburn...
