Wow! That's wonderful!! Some of us here are thinking that the niacinamide in the products has much to do with people's results. I'm thinking salicylic acid as well, as isn't it also in the products? Salicylic acid (bha) deep cleans into the pores, so it makes sense that it would help as well. It's important to know "why" these products are working, in case the line is ever discontinued or the formula changed. Also, I think it's a good idea to give your body lots of nutrition as well so that you're even less dependant upon topicals. I eat blended greens (like green smoothies) almost every single day, and I totally credit them to keeping my skin clear. Love it! I do try to be careful to use well-formulated products on my face, but for me, good nutrition was an absolute factor I couldn't ignore.
Been using the fragrance free serum for about a month, it has done nothing
Have you been using benzoyl peroxide, too? From my understanding, the Olay serum helps to regenerate the skin, as the name suggests. Or rather, replenishes/retains moisture. The BP is what actually helps kill bacteria that contribute to acne
Hey guys.
Thanks for this thread! Went out to buy myself some of this product and I have to say it's great. Only been a week but my skin looks and feels great.
Just one question, I guess I'm a bit paranoid. I'm a 20 year old guy who has some (not major) damage from past acne and wanted a 'boost' for the skin. The problem is my Mum said that she was told using products like this before they are really needed can have a reverse effect and actually accelerate aging.
Anyone have any comments about this? I'm also using the Olay total effects 7 in 1 anti aging SPF 15 moisturizer for the day, the daily regenerate cream wash at night and obviously this night cream.
Anyone think this can actually be doing harm?
Appreciate all help, and so pleased to read how this cream is helping people.
I might buy this Regenerist Night Recovery Cream and just substitute it for my moisturiser at night, and keep the rest of my routine the same. I don't want to ever touch BP ever again after what it did to me the first time I used it 😐
Which BP did you use?
The Regimen BP?
Cuz the BP that I just really like it! and its working for me.
mmm. I used to use the olay regenerist night recovery, and recommended it all over these boards. I became uncomfortable with the parabens, and then found out that olay utilizes animal testing.Lethal dose animal testing. Gross.
Damn it....
Well, I did read a couple of weeks ago that, for reasons I don't know, that niacinamide in a serum doesn't work too well. It's better to use liquids or creams?? I read it in the New Beauty magazine - perhaps then there's a product that works even better w/o the animal testing
I broke down and got the cream cleanser and night recovery cream. I was going to get the regen serum but couldn't bring myself to spend the extra $19. I also got some Neutrogena sunscreen. My mom is really mad at me now for spending so much money on skincare lol. She doesn't understand!! Especially cuz I am breaking out right now, I think from eating a lot of sugar a couple days ago.
update: slathered on the epiduo then patted on the night recovery cream last night and there was definite improvement today. I had some redness on my chin (not PIH, not forming pimples, I don't know what they are) and it is way down today I will give another update in 2 weeks or so.
I just wanted to thank you so much for posting this. I've been suffering from acne since I was about 14 ( now I'm 24). I have tried everything under the sun. I started using dan's products and I was happy that I was becoming clear but I had this awful dry scaling face. The moisturizer plus jojoba oil did nothing for me. It was embarrassing under my make up. MY skin looked flakey and gross. The only moisturizers that would clear the dryness would be to heavy and cause awful cystic acne. I felt completely hopeless... until I came across your post. I started using the night cream and within a couple of days I noticed results. My skin was becoming clear and smooth. Now when I wear make up my skin looks flawless. Thank you so much for helping me. I really appreciate it!!!!
I made an account just so I could post a reply..this is a rarity for me, even with all the forums I read on the internet. So, when I read this thread I thought it seemed a little sketch, considering the olay regenerist line is geared at 'aging' women, the ingredients are far from what is considered soothing for sensitive skin, and it's just a drug store brand. But, I guess for some reason I decided to try it out (probably because my Ole Henrikson facial cleaner from Sephora was running out). I have to say, this stuff works for me. I'm a 20 year old college student and I've tried everything but accutane and proactiv. Had acne since puberty and could never keep up with it. I'm fairly certain a big part of my acne is a hormonal issue because it always gets bad right before that time of month and when I went on BC (Loestrin 24 Fe...was awful for me..completely wrong, became depressed after 4 months on it and then got terrible anxiety problems. Had to go off of it after 6 months) to try to help my acne, it got even worse, though there were some days when my face looked great. Anyway, so after a couple months off the BC my face was still going crazy with the painful cystic acne and black heads and white heads abound...but this Olay Regenerist stuff, I decided to try it and it's good stuff. Not too surprising, it's got salicylic acid, some B vitamins, which helps, though I am really surprised that the alcohol, laureth sulfates, and perfume hasn't irritated my super sensitive skin one bit! I only use the Daily Regenerating Cream Cleanser (awesome little beads that exfoliate just the right amount!) and on occasion the moisturizer with spf and the night regenerating serum. I have very drastic combination skin, but this seems to balance me out somewhat. The texture of my skin has gotten a lot better, I'm not really embarrassed to go out without make up if I have to. I still will get a few break outs here and there, but seriously not bad at all in comparison to what I was dealing with. I've been using it for about 4 months now. Definitely notice a difference and so do my friends. I also started taking supplements around the same time, including a B complex (helps with the depression from BC too), chromium, fish oil, a hair and skin supplement with magnesium and iron and the likes from whole foods, and sometimes I'll take borage oil, but I'm still weary about it bc of the possibilities of PAs in it...need to research more, but it's from Whole Foods so hopefully PA-free. Anyway, hope this was somewhat helpful, give it a try! It's not awfully expensive and if you don't like it, most places like CVS or Walgreens will give you a full refund even after using most of the product.
update: I found that the OOR regimen, without diet changes, did not stop my acne. To be honest, I didn't give it a full 100% chance of working...I did the cleanser and night cream only in the evening and skipped the BP a lot. I do, however, think that it helped fade PIH, especially around my chin/mouth. I also found that PIH marks where I did NOT pick/pop faded MUCH faster and were a lot more responsive to treatment. As if you need another reason not to pop your pimples!!
for me, the paleo diet works to stop my acne. No grains, added sugar, soy, corn, bean/legumes, Crap Food, nasty veggie oil. I have started cooking (for myself and the rest of the family) and I've found I actually really like it. I'm breaking out prety badly on my mouth/chin right now because I have been cheating a lot the past week, but I've promised myself as soon as school ends I have no more excuses for cheating!
In short, I'm going to do the paleo diet to stop my acne and continue with the OOR for PIH. I'm thinking of adding the serum or something but it's so damn expensive!!
hey I just read your post and im thinking about using JUST the 2 creams that you use because i just started a regimen about 2 weeks ago of pretty much just water and ACV(for only first 3 months) 2x a day. I don't want to use BP after what it has done to my skin. It been slow, but definitely progress, but i feel your creams could definitely help.
so i have a question, if you could only use one, which would it be, the night recovery cream or the deep hydration regenerating cream?
or... would you say that I should get both?
I am sorry I cannot recommend variations to my regimen because I just don't know what that might do. I don't use the serum, I don't skip out on the BP and I haven't substituted anything in my regimen. What I have posted is what I use and have been using. That's the only part I can really talk about. I've skipped on the BP before and I broke out. I ran out of the night recovery cream and didn't get a new one for while and I broke out. And when I went back on them again, my skin cleared up. So in my humble opinion, those two products really works...for me at least. That is the extent of my "expertise". {LOL} Sorry guys...

I would never be caught dead without the night recovery cream and BP. What strength of BP did you use before? I use the 2.5% and it works just fine without dryness. I honestly think it is what gets rid of the acne and then the night recovery cream helps my skin heal faster. I guess I found my balance. Good luck to you on your regimen!

BP wise, i used everything from proactiv to murad to the creams you can get at a pharmacy, but the last BP i used was dan's, the 2.5% about a few weeks ago,
im really really tempted to try your regimen, like i want to after seeing your results, but im just trying to go all natural with the exception of the night cream, i don't want to be dependent on BP or creams, im trying to let my skin heal itself but its going to take months. ugh
i tried skippin the bp in morning i was clear for about 2/3 weeks and then i broke out. it wasnt worth it so im back on the bp.zhalvejhegirl- how many pumps of bp do you use morning and nightly?
also did you have a breakout when you added the night cream?
I'm very liberal with the BP. I'd say about 3 pumps. Then I wait for it to dry a little bit before I apply the night cream.

I've actually done that before (skip the BP and just use the night cream). Needless to say, it didnt turn out the way I wanted it to. Went back on BP and all is well again. Best of luck to you though! Hope it works out 🙂
