Who cares if Botchla hasn't logged on in years....there are many people who have tried it that can offer some insight.
We should be trying to help each other and not debating who is right and wrong and condescending people while we're at it, yes?
That's exactly what each of us are trying to do, knowing wheather or not Botchla hasn't logged in is important to some people, maybe they won't waste their time. No one is debating, just helping.
^Yes, you're right. But people were specifically asking questions of Botchla, and I just wanted you all to know that Botchla would not personally be answering them.

By all means, those of you that are using this regimen can give each other support and advice, just don't expect Botchla himself to answer.
Good luck!
i am about to try this too. i'm going on accutane in 1 month, and at the moment i'm taking an antibiotic to ease into it. but i've been using ProActive, which worked until this year, when I got cystic acne (hereditary in my family). So i've tried a ton of different washes/moisturizers since i stopped ProActive, which have failed, and my skin is so dry. i got the SA and BP washes you recommended, plus an aloe-vera bar, for sensitive days, and Eucerin intensive repair lotion (which is a AHA product). so i'll let you know how it works.
Sounds very interesting. I may try this sometime for a week, and see if my skin improves any. I'm on ProActiv now, but I'm thinking of canceling, because it is so harsh on my skin.
If you really want to try this, then you should try it for at least a month. 1 week isn't going to give you an accurate idea as to whether or not it will work for you in the long run. Actually, trying anything for just a week or two is not a good idea as most treatments take a month or more to "kick in" enough for you to see improvement. But with this specific treatment, most people experience an initial breakout after a couple weeks before things start to get better and stay that way.
I just want to give new people looking at this thread some input from my experiences so far. I started this regimen about 3 weeks ago. Prior to starting this, I was put on a BCP (OTC-lo) that either caused or at least contributed to a major breakout starting in Sept. and I stopped using it the same week I started this regimen (I stopped taking the BCP due to other health-related reasons, so I don't know if the breakout it caused would have cleared up and if my skin would have changed any if I stayed on it).
Since starting this regimen... The first week my skin cleared some from the BCP breakout and I didn't experience much drying out or any other negative side effects. The second week I broke out again, part of the initial breakout phase I think. Still no excessive dryness. This is my 3rd week now and the breakout is clearing. I still had a few active zits but they are small and healing. I still have redmarks, and probably will have them for a while as those take forever to go away with my skin.
I read all 70 pages of this thread in one day (took forever, but I wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into) and can answer most questions of people who don't want to bother reading it all like I did.
To summarize though, it seemed like most people had an initial breakout sometime during weeks 2 through 4 before things started to clear and stay that way. Until the 2nd or 3rd month, some people reported getting very small breakouts or an occasional zit here and there. Redmarks were reported to fade over time, skin tone was reported to even out over time, as well as black heads/dirty pores. What seemed like the common factor for people who had success was that they were consistent in this regimen. They did it EVERY day, and they didn't bounce around with other treatments at the same time.
Now, it didn't work for everyone, nothing is that good. So some people are going to find that even after the initial breakout stages they still can't seem to clear or get as clear as they'd like. It sounded like if you did not have much success after 6-8 weeks, then you'd probably given this as good a shot as possible and maybe it wasn't the treatment for you. For what it is worth, the treatment seemed to help people with MODERATE acne more so than severe. Which isn't to say that it wouldn't help someone with more severe acne, just that it might not have been strong enough-that's something you would have to find out yourself as every one's skin is different.

True, but I've been using BP for the past 4 months (ProActiv), so my face is used to it I think. Dunno how SA will react.

That's because severe acne (cystic) cannot be cured by topical treatment. If you try to, it will last much longer and scar more unless you switch to an oral treatment which works from the inside out. I have cystic acne and am using this regime. However I'm not expecting this regime to get rid of my acne completely. i know i have to treat it from the inside, which is why i'm taking Accutane soon, but to control the surface of my skin is still important, so i'm doing something. And honestly, this regime has worked the best for me so far. If you have severe dryness, yet keep breaking out, i highly recommend this regime. You might want to try an extra boost of moisture after everything though, I use Eucerine Intensive Repair lotion.
I'm on day 3 of using the this regimen and my skin has been pretty good. For me, it's working better than ProActiv did (embaressing for ProActiv). I have gotten 2 or 3 pin sized whiteheads, but other than that, nothing. I usually get big whiteheads (gross). My current acne marks continue to diminish.
:] Thanks for this regimen! I will continue to use and hope for better results!
To be honest a lot of things are pretty harsh on my skin, so I try to go the all natural route or as close to it as I can get. I saw that someone else has used the Nubian Heritage black soap and I agree with them. It works really well. A friend of mine gave me the web address www.skinvolved.com and i tried it and it clears you up pretty well. On top of that, you can't beat it for the price. It's 3 bucks a bar.
My simple routine:
I use it twice a day, morning and night i then follow up with the Black oats and aloe lotion
and it started to clear up pretty clearly.
Hm, I think that should work, as long as the formula is similar. The C&C Blackhead Scrub is amazing though. Unlike other SA washes, this makes your skin super smooth somehow. The beads can be messy, but I think that's what causes the smoothness.
I'm on like day 5 of this regimen, and my skin is pretty clear, except for one blemish. The others were healed after draining them, and scabbed over within a day. :] I love this.
Also, at night, I add ProActiv Repairing lotion IN ADDITION to SA/BP washes. I put it on after the 2 washes. I think it's pretty effective. And of course lotion on top of all that.
Hi there, I'm new. I am very tempted to try this regime. I'm 16 years old and acne has only just started to bother me. However, I went into Superdrug & Boots (UK) and found clean & clear products but I don't think any had the 'BP' ingredient in it (they didn't have continous control but they had some other stuff). I also wanted to know if it was safe to use these products on the forehead?
Also, what is moisturiser? I hear that these two products can dry your skin and therefore it's good to use moisturiser at night to stop the crispyness...is this true? Sorry for my lack of knowledge! Thanks a lot!
@spillet This may be too harsh for someone coming off Accutane. How long ago did you come off of it? You should be fine, I think, though.
@BdotMan Hm, it is safe to use on foreheads (all around face, and also body). Not sure what to do if the products aren't available to you. As long as you find something with at least 5% BP, and like 2% SA in 2 diff. washes, it should work similarly.
Moisturizer is crucial to all acne topicals, because it can dry out your skin. Moisturizer is AKA lotion.
