well, it's been maybe about a week (probably a little less) and there's still no vast improvement, but I must say that I have not had any NEW pimples yet, but the ones I do have are not healing very fast...they are taking quite a while for the bumps to even get flat. I'm going to stick with this for one more week, and if I notice that I'm not getting any new pimples, then i will stick with it for longer.
One thing I did notice, the tiny bumps on my forehead (that I all of a sudden got SO many of) have been going away. But I look at myself in the morning and I get so upset...my skin hasn't looked this bad in a very long time. I used to not get any pimples along my jawline but now i have a chain of them on my left side and 4 on my right. They are big and red and absolutely ugly. I don't think they are cysts...because those are deep down, right? These are just big ugly red bumps that then get a white head and then bleed and heal.
If anyone that used to get jawline pimples and are using this regimine, please let me know. I guess I just really need assurance and hope because it is just looking so bad for me right now and I don't know what to do.
Thanks.
I started a modified version of the regime three days ago. I use both C&C products in the morning, and Retin-A Micro at night. There's reasons for why i'm doing it this way that i don't feel like explaining... but when i first started with the new regime, i broke out really bad like i hadn't for a while, but now i haven't gotten any new pimples (i don't think, there's so many! AHHH) and the ones i have are getting smaller or dissapearning. AHH, i don't want to jinz myself, but i hope it's working. Thanks for the information about these two products!!
mustangsally,
me again! ](*,)
I have had the jawline breakouts for about a year and half. They get HUGE, very painful, and rarely come to a head (for me anyway). I think what I have may be a few cysts and few regular pimples.
Anyway, on this regimen I have noticed they heal faster. The swelling isn't as bad. It still takes a good week and half- 2 weeks for a cyst to go away, but that is an improvement for me. And during that time they aren't as HUGE and noticable as they were before. I do think the overall number of them has decreased too...in fact, I know it has. This month's breakout (period related) only netted one jawline pimple and one tiny little baby pimple near my ear. That's it. Big improvement for me.
Something to think about: I have always read and heard that chin/jawline breakouts were hormonal. Made sense for me since I only breakout in those areas during my period. Are you under more stress or anything that would mess with your hormones? Or is this your first time to use SA? Maybe you're going through that initial "flushing" period???
just thought i'd post my progress-
it's been only one week but i have zero pimples [knock on wood]
dan's regimen had cleared me about 80-90%, this regimen took care of the rest. i could be just imagining it, but i think my blackheads are starting to go away. that and dark spots are my only problem. i'm crossing my fingers that within a few months that'll be under control too
THANK YOU BOTCHLA!
This regimen is awsome...I have been on it for 3 weeks and am virtually acne free, except for little, and i mean little red spots(like 3 or 4) that are fading fast....I tried the regimen on the main site and had very little good results with it and hated putting that cream bp on....This regimen is so easy...I just use the SA twice and the BP once at night....Sometimes in the morning or before i go out i use neutrogena oil control wash just because it keeps you shine free for like 8 hours or more....I really noticed the effectiveness of this program when I started to feel a cyst come on...usually they would last for like 2 weeks...from the time I felt it...it never came to be a big bump and literally was gone in 2 days...NOTHING has worked like this before.....All i can say to people who think nothing works..give this a try and give it atleast a month...its worth it! ALSO drink 8 or more glasses of water a day and take vitamins...every little bit helps!
It is working for me aswell, I'm using BP cleanser 3 times a day (morning noon and before I go to bed) and SA 2 times a day. My skin is used to BP (been on all sorta BP creams for about 3-4 years) and needs a LOT of BP to dry out the pimples. 2x a day wasn't enough for me.
I shave with purpose soap and gilette sensor as suggested by Dan. I also moisturize at night using Eucerin (best of all)
EIDT: Forgot to add that I'm drinking multi vitamins (vitamin A + B5 + Zinc) every morning
I kind of want to try this, but I'm afraid to. I have really sensitive skin, and it seems like I get excited about something that seems to work for so many people, and then it doesn't work for me ](*,) . Anyone have encouragement? I don't have cysts or anything, but I break out on my cheeks w/whiteheads...and I have lots of red spots from old acne.
I use this regime now for about a month. It works great!Every morning I get up and look in the mirror and still no zits! There gone.I just pray it keeps working.I can't believe I have gone this long without getting any new zits.
I shave with pro edge gel use mach 3 razor
clean and clear sa then clean and clear bp twice a day.thats it.nothing else at all.
I believe like botchla said less is better.Thank you botchla =D>
since i'm here i can just say that you're right, not everyone has success with dan's regimen. it works for some, it doesn't for some.. as with any treatment i guess. whatever works for you.
also i think another reason is that many find dan's regimen expensive and a pain in the butt to do. that is, leaving the BP on your face and then having to deal with that.. like being careful where you put your face, worrying about if it's gonna screw up when you use moisturizer or rub off, or whatever the case may be. also neutrogena products are outlandishly priced, so i'm sure going through those tubes of BP costs a fortune.
the regimen i use costs less than 10 dollars a month, and only requires you to wash your face twice a day and the stuff comes off. you don't have to worry about residue or BP layer on your face.
BUT
if you are using dan's regimen and it is working, amen. keep with that. it's not worth it to switch over if you're clear.
also, you have to consider there are mainly 3 causes of acne (physically):
1. bacteria
2. clogged pores (from oil and dead skin)
3. a combination of both
using a BP only regimen only covers #1. BP does nothing to clear the oil and dead skin out of the pores, in fact it creates more dead skin cells because of its drying effect. i would say that for at least 50% of people, their problem is #2 or #3. by using salicylic acid in combination with the BP, you are conquering all three. and that is why my regimen seems to be very effective, and why people have more success on this one when other ones have not worked before.
the reason i use these two products is because they are the most effective ones i have ever used. i have tried almost everything out there, and from personal experimentation, these are the best (in my opinion).
the SA wash is probably the least drying/irritation wash you can get that uses SA.. i think everyone who has tried it agrees they like it. i haven't seen anyone say that they don't like it.
the BP wash is quite a bit more drying and irritating.. BUT at the same time, it is HIGHLY effective. so i guess it's a tradeoff. most of the irritation caused by this wash goes away within a few weeks, anyways.
i think a big problem is that people try a product or method for like 3-4 days or a week and then post on the boards that it works wonderfully. then everyone jumps aboard and they all find out together it doesn't work.
for instance, a big one is the neutrogena clear pore cleanser/mask 3.5% BP. when i first used this product i was ranting and raving about it! oh it's wonderful! it worked for 2-3 weeks, then my face went to worse than it was before i started using it. i thought it might just be chance so i stuck with it for a few more months and it never got better.. and i am not the only one this has happened to. (i see a lot of people post about this product after using it for a few days, before they see what it really does.. which is clog your pores up with comedogenic crap).
the point is, most products SEEM to work great at first, then they go to hell.
my regimen has stood the test of time. as i mentioned in the original post, i have been using the BP wash for YEARS and it has remained effective. the SA wash i have been using for many, many months as well.. so i KNOW these products remain effective (in fact, they get even more effective the longer you use them).
in fact, there's the phenomenon of the "disappearing acne sufferer".. that is, when these people find a cure that REALLY works permanently, they stop coming to the boards, naturally.
i'm just one of those people who has stuck around after i'm clear. i wanted to make sure i let the others know of something that finally worked, in hopes that it would work for them as well.. and i had acne so long, that i like talking with the others who share the problem.
I've been using the Blackhead Clearing scrub by C&C morning and night, and then my old Panoxyl 5%BP bar at night. I'm planning on switching over to the C&C Acne Cleanser once I'm finished with the rest of the face bar.
I have pretty mild acne; only about two or three active pimples is usually what I deal with. However, I don't know if it's because of the weather (it's switching over to winter now!) or of my using the blackhead clearing scrub, but I've broken out a little bit on my left cheek. It's nothing I'm really bothered by; I just figure that the cleanser is probably clearing out my pores. I HAVE noticed that all the little blackheads on my nose have been disappearing, so that's a nice thing. I just hope my results are as positive as what everybody else seems to be having!
Thanks for the idea/help with this, Botchla. It seems like you've got quite a following now.

I noticed that I started getting these jaw pimples ever since I started my new job 1 year ago. I used to NEVER get those pimples. But also, I stopped using Proactiv (which I used for over 3 years). But it stopped working for me...but I NEVER got the neck/jawline breakouts...even when it stopped working. I think the stress of owning a house for the first time and getting a new job really did it to me, but you'd think that after a year it would subside!
Well, I have a new big one on my right side, but the left ones are begining to heal quite fast.
Yes, I always used SA as a wash...but it was the kind that just had a little bit, not 2% of it. When I was on the acne cure program for 7 weeks, I did not get these cysts or big pimples around my jawline...just got some on my chin, upperlip and cheeks...I think trying too many different regimines has really hurt me. But I will keep you updated. I think tomorrow will be officially a week that I have stuck to this regimine...the bumps on my forhead are gone, so at least I know that is working.
Dan's regimen worked great for me when I was using 3% prescription GEL. Then I ran out and had to use the Neutrogena, and my skin became so irritated and red, and I was still getting a few pimples. I decided there had to be something better, so I tried this.
This works much better overall for my skin. It doesn't burn or irritate, and isn't drying for me, even though it is for some. I still am getting a few pimples, but it's better compared to what I used to have, plus my skin tone is much better and it feels much softer. The regimen took too long, left too much on my face, and irritated me too much. This one is fast, cheaper, and I feel much better overall for my skin.
I agree that the regimen you use does depend on how your skin reacts to the different products. If you're completely satisfied with Dan's, then absolutely stay on it. Once Dan's BP gel is available, I plan to try it again if this isn't getting me completely clear by then. But I just decided that I looked too much like a tomato every single day and that it just wasn't working well enough.
I have a question though. I checked the ingredients for the deep cleanser, and it says that it has menthol in it (undoubtedly to trick people into thinking it's working). Is menthol bad for the skin in any way? I don't want to use a product that contains some unhealthy ingredients. It's also got fragrence in it, so I dunno. I'm conflicted. :/
Debonair, methynol is just a chemical that they use to make the stuff tingle. All acne medicine producers do this to make you think thier product is working. However, it is not bad for your body, its the simplest alcohol and it evaporates extremely quick so it does not burn your skin. But dont get me wrong, the clean and clear BP face wash DOES work. Ive been really clear since i started this. I get one or two stress pimples from college once in while though but other than that im clear and my skin feels very good. Best of all, all the blackhead in my nose are going away
debonaire: what product doesn't have fragrances these days?
compare the C&C product ingredients with their neutragena counterparts, and i think you will notice that like 50% of the ingredients in the neutrogena products are comedogenic. whereas with the C&C there may be 1 that's at the bottom of the list, not enough to do anything.
i mean, if so many people are having success with it, then it obviously isn't ruining everyone's complexion, right?
I just think it's stupid they need to put in an unnecessary ingredient. Sorry. I just haven't been on NON natural products for very long, so I'm still somewhat used to this all. I used to just see an esthetician and she used all natural products and everything. It was gentler on my skin, yes, but not as effective as the stuff my derm has been prescribing.
I guess if it works, then I shouldn't complain! Thanks for the help!
I have officially been on this regime for 2 weeks now and just wanted to update my results so far. I have virtually no more active acne, just maybe the occasional pimple here and there, but they go away fast. The red marks from the acne I had bad on my cheek are fading fast!!!, As of now My face is just maybe 1 or 2 pimples and some red marks from old acne that is GONE ... All i need now is for these red marks to fade and I will be the happiest man in the world. thank you botchla thank you so much. =D>
The red marks from the acne I had bad on my cheek are fading fast!!!
i was on dan's regimen, and while it helped my acne, i was never completely clear (i was on it for 3 months+).
the red marks also seems to last longer from dan's regimen, and i was just wondering whether people who have been on dan's regimen and has gotten red marks seem to find the C&C products good with red marks or not? those red marks are killing me ](*,)
i seem to get the general idea from this thread that the products don't really help with red marks, but steelers comment suggests that he thinks it helps. so which is it? :-k
