So I tried the whole put a bunch of jojoba oil on your face before cleansing, and I really don't think it made a difference. My face just felt gross and irritated. Instead, I've been adding several drops of jojoba oil to my cleanser both morning and night. This seems to be much more effective! Plus, I'm not over irritating my face by contiually rubbing jojoba into it.
I have been doing this jojoba oil thing morning and night (just on dry spot and not rubbing too long/too hard).. plus using jojoba oil before bp and in the moisturizer too and it really works to keep my skin smooth and soft.. no more flakiness/dryness during the day. // I did it once a day before and my skin was still dry/flaky... whenever I speak/eat the skin around my mouth gets flaky, and we could also see some "wrinkles (dead skin)" near my nose/cheek - so... twice a day/everyday works for my skin (I don't have really sensitive skin)

I kinda do the same and it works. Still if i touch or my face rubs against anything by accident, the flakiness becomes visible! so annoying
If you are absolutely at your wit's end with the dryness and flakes, here's something you can try! SLATHER ON THE MOISTURIZER. I put two thick coat of it at night and a lot in the morning. Give it a couple days and you'll notice a huge difference!
agreed, i was gonna try the baby brush method or try scrubbing lightly with washcloth but i decided to go back to using a bunch of cetaphil and keep moisturizing and a lot of the flakiness i had on my chin is gone. i still have a bit on cheeks but it is improving. However i am getting whiteheads which i havent had in a long time.
Absolutely great advice. I tried it and not only did it remove the flaking and dryness it conditioned my nails while I was massaging the oil in. Talk about making things come together and work. Thank You everyone for taking the time to help everyone else with your great advice and succesful experimenting. And your right my face no longer feels tight and dry even after using the BP I will do this night and day for about a week and then see if just morning is enough.
I just took a day off from BP to use jojoba oil and help my poor skin be less angry. The flaking and stiffness was unbearable. i couldn't smile and it was difficult to eat. So far I tried just putting it on before BP and my face is still a little stiff, but not nearly as bad as without! I also added a little jojoba to my moisturizer and over a half hour later i still see no flakes! I may try the massage method tomorrow night because the flakiness is so upsetting.. I actually did that 'by accident' once when i was applying sunscreen and more moisturizer after BP. dead skin started coming off so i rubbed off as much as i could. So i will hopefully have success with the jojoba massage
when you do the jojoba massage remember to be very gentle. the first time i did it i rubbed/massaged to much and ended up irratating it even more. i think it even works by just massaging it in and leaving it on for awhile. it seems to soften all of the dry skin and it just comes off with washing. i have also taken breaks from the daily routine because my skin was getting way to dry. i wash with the bp but only apply moisturizer and then the treatment and aha at night. I figure its better than nothing and i don't have shiny scaley skin. Here is another thing i do that really does work and i don't see how it could hurt with the regimen. I do a honey/olive oil mask a couple times a week. i take honey and put a couple drops of olive oil and massage it into my skin. leave on for about a half hour and wash off with warm water. it really makes a difference. just don't go outside with it on lol
Hmm I must be rubbing my face too hard because it seems to get drier after doing the exfoliation than before. I have since progressed in the regimen to using a half pump of BP twice a day last week and this week i'm using a half pump ni the morning and just tried a full pump at night. I got some dead skin off when i tried this exfoliating method today, but perhaps i need to try it a few more times to see more progress? The other thing i discovered somewhat by accident was applying jojoba oil to my slightly wet face after showering and before applying BP. I had been applying jojoba before BP but to my dried face. the flakes disappeared. now, i know they're too tricky to disappear, but for being less afraid to go out in public-- it will hopefully be a huge help in-between exfoliation! You know, i'm going to give this a few more tries, now that my skin is tolerating BP... heh, tolerating.. bc i've gotten very tempted to try the baby brush method because there's just so much dead skin! i'll see how this goes, and maybe if it stays bad i'll try the baby brush method once a week or something minimal. Thank you to everyone for all the good posts! This is all so helpful, I would have quit without all this advice about moisturizing and exfoliating and dryness and ahhh.
Problems of the drying of the skin have many reasons. Your food must be in a consistent level and your digestion power should be normal. Try avoiding to eat oily and junk food. Apply a good sunscreen lotion on your body whenever you go out. Drying of the skin is also due to the hormones. Have a healthy diet like fruits and leafy vegetables. Try an Aloe Vera juice on your body.
The jojoba scrub is probably one of the best pieces of advise I have read on this forum, because it saves you from running to a harsh facial scrub to get rid of the dead skin and of course causing more irritation. What I love to do is when I first get up in the morning is to mix Vaseline and jojoba oil together rub it in where I need it and leave it whilst I make my morning coffee and then slowly rub it in. Usually 10-15mins have pasted by and then I just cleanse, BP and moisturise as normal.
this method worked really well on me, a lot better than just use tons of moisturizer everyday. My skin was so red and itchy due to the dryness i have from the B.P., i tried AHA+, it helped abit but still red and itchy. After giving this method a try, my skin is a lot better now. Nice! Now my face is clear AND no dryness, itchness, or redness!!!
True true.
I have another question, sorry! You mentioned, jojoba before BP?? Because flakiness is quite a big problem for me. So you just slap on jojoba (pat or rub?) before BP, day and night? Or just day?
I do the jojoba oil before BP both day and night in a way similar to what I described above, but with less jojoba oil and time. I use about 5-6 drops for my whole face. At first I start dabbing them on problem areas (eyelids, around mouth, sides of face), and then I put on the rest and sort of pat it on. I use a massaging technique similar to what I described in my really long post above, but not for nearly as long, just to cover my face. If I accidentally used too much jojoba oil, I might blot some off. I wait just a minute or two and then start applying BP as normal. The BP takes a bit longer to rub in, what really threw me off for a long time, though, is that once you've gotten it to disappear, your face won't feel nearly as tight or dry. Even after waiting 15 minutes, my face doesn't get that feeling, which it always used to get. I apply normal moisturizer at that time for more hydration, sun protection, and/or the benefits of regular AHA use, though I don't always feel that I need the extra moisture because I'm so used to BP. At first I was very worried that this would interfere with the absorption of the BP and make it less effective, but not at all, and of other posters who have tried this, I don't think any of them found that this made the BP less effective.
Gyroscope352 also uses jojoba oil before BP, but in a slightly different way, so you might want to see .
Ok so after jojoba oil after washing...Do you need to wash your hands before BP?
