I find it strange how when people cut off b5 completely they then suffered other symptoms or it got worse like since i cut out b5 completely i now have lik egassing and bloating and my hair loss increased my gassing and bloating are still present but reduced same as hair fall. Will the cure means going back to taking b5 again? I wonder.
"My theory is that we've bombarded the body with this poisonous vitamin and a large amount is hiding in our livers, and a tiny bit gets released every day via the bile juice and enters our bloodstream. I think this is causing the problems. On top of that we ingest more B5 with the food we eat every day."
i have a interesting hypothesis just like the guy said in cycling fourms that maybe the b5 is hiding in our liver and we should prolly do a liver detox to try to excrete the b5 from our body. Worth a shot? Im experienced a sharp pain in my tummy like 2 days before when i was about to fall asleep might have caused it who knows but still expereicing gassing and bloating.

I dont wanna jump the gun here and say it whats wrong butI had every blood test you can have done pretty much and all b levels checked, my hormones, liver, kidneys, and many more including hormone levelsand it was none of those. All check out good. So my doctor and really good friend said lets do an omega 3 check. My levels were rock bottom. I was put on a really low dose omega 3 because you want to let your body get used to it. Too much of anything is bad.And I have been taking it for about 4 weeks now and my hair is starting to come back and I feel better than I have feltin years. Her theory is that the b 5 vitamin may have burned all the omega 3 out of my body because thats what b vitamin does beeaks down fat. Omega 3 is the starting process to so many things in the body literally and contributes to so many processes.Look it up and do your own research, and have tests done. Ill bet a lot of you have the exact same problem.Thats maybe why it doesnt effect some because of there fat levels or how there body uses the fat or the amount they have. Just a theory. Start with a really low dose it worksa lot better. Im 180 lbs And Im taking490 mg of cod liver oila day. Do your research on all the side effects of not enough omega 3. Im not saying this is the problem but it has sure helped me out a lot so far. Again I dont wanna jump the gun but I just thought I would go ahead and share. Good luck let me know what yall think. Peace.
Thats good weird thing is ive been eating a omega 3 of 1500mg everyday and it did nothing maybe abit idk. Do u experience gassing or bloating? i have those symptoms and my stools look likes its breaking and stuff i kinda feel its some thyroid issue at this point since my hair has a straw like texture and curly also. Can't really do any diagnosis since my mom thinks im weird and it will all just go back to normal def not when my hair texture has changed drastically and also my bloating and gassing which wasen't present prior b5 overdose. I have been on a candida diet and will see if it works or not i need to do the candida test first doh.
EDIT: shit def think i have a candida problem, my spit kinda goes down the water as time goes by and its just reaching the bottom of the water. Also, have u been taking a omega 3 for a long time now even before ur doctors say so
I was paranoid about me having some thyroid issues so i went to the doctor to talk about it. He did some examinations not the full blood test thing but those physical checks and that my heartbeat was fine, pulse everything seems good so for now i guess im probably just gonna rule thyroid issues out for now.
This is strange i think my body can absorb vitamins pretty quickly hence explaining why once i took b5 i already experience hair shedding the first day. I took another supplement yst which consist of biotin, l cysteine and more its one of the liver detox things by usana but i experience more hair shedding when i brush my hair through my head dry. Gotta stop taking it.

On this low dose and eating right I feel really good and my hair is coming in thick again!!! I would try to eat healthy and take a low dose. Drink water and eat goodtill your body resets itself. The cod liver oil I take also has a little vitamin d in it but I dont think that matters. I take the Carlson brand.
Oh man omega 3 fish oil at small amounts are costly and i don't think my mom would want to buy a omega 3 at 500mg since theres already 1500mg lying around the house. Do u think cutting a 1500mg fish oil would work lmao into prolly 1/3

Just tryna get all the cheap ones to try first to see if it works since im on a budget
@Blue09 and @brendan452 Did u take the omega3 at low doses doh because according to spyder also he has been taking 1000mg of omega 3 for a while and it didnt seem to improve the hair loss only when he started taking a low dosage his hair came back. I have always been taking a 1500mg omega 3 and saw no difference or change to my hair i might get a smaller dose and see what happebs

overdose of omega three is probably worse than been deficient
Do u face any other symptoms from b5? I always wake up in the middle of the night which is weird because it didnt happen last time, gassing and bloating seems to have reduced alot, dry eyes, dry skin also. This kinda matches most of the symptoms to omega 3 deficiency. I find it weird how spyder is taking 1000mg of omega 3 daily also but he felt worse from it and only dropping his dosage seems to help his hair better.
6 hours ago, Spyder2011 said:I did too but the cod liver oil Im taking is definatelyhelping. Not sure if its the brand or what but Im sticking to it. Trust me Ive tried everything for about 10 years nothing has worked like this.

u think it would still work the same? Same brand but just a lower dosage buying this one since its cheaper
Think your wasting your time no point taking omega three unless you have had a blood test and shown as deficient.
i eat tuna twice a week and other fish plus we cook with olive oil and I eat nuts so I wont be deficient
keep me posted though and good luck with it after all everyone is different but I dont think taking omega three every day is a cure it will eventually build up in your system to the point of overdose its very high vitamin a and is fat soluble

i will prolly try it at a low dosage like spyder said. its pretty hard for me to eat fatty fish foods since my family dosent cook it often and even if we cook fish its some fried fish that is store bought and i havent had salmon in a looooooooong time.

I think i learnt in my nutrition class that u have to balance out the omega 3 and 6 for it to function well. Nuts are high in omega 6 so maybe that could've thrown u off the scale idk just a possibility.
1 hour ago, brendan452 said:Okay but as soon as you start getting dry lips thats if you do stop immediately
I find it odd that i was also taking a omege 3 previously at 1500mg and it did nth for me.
Brendan did u also face any other symptoms than hair loss? I think my body hair is thinning everywhere and my eyebrows and leg hair also my groin. I might have some thyroid issues idk but i don't face any fatigue my blood pressure is normal and my heart is suppose to beat as it is.
im still leaning more onto a thyroid and adrenal problems because i have cold feet, bad sleep i wake up in the middle of the night always, brain fog, no fatigue doh, my nails also have this depressions and ridges which indicate some thyroid issues and also the moons on certain nails are dissapearing.
Its been 3 months of constant shedding and stress plays a huge roll. I dont stress it much, I dont look at my hair when it falls out in the shower or when I do my hair. Just try to have short hair, I havent noticed any receding or any patches. Every time I come on this forum I stress. Its not worth it. Youre more than just your hair. It doesnt define you. Im taking L cysteine and high dosage of Vitamin D still, as well as putting egg in my hair before I shower. Ill be back in 3 months to update

Hi Blue
I've been lurking on this thread a lot & seen you've tried everything.
I'm not sure if this will be any help. Women with PCOS experience androgenetic symptoms such as male pattern baldness, acne, & hirsutism (excessive hair growing on chest/face).
PCOS can be caused by elevated DHEA-s which in turn can be caused by elevated prolactin levels. (source)
Perhaps the elevated prolactin levels could be affecting your DHEA but also perhaps not as PCOS is a female endocrine disorder.
From another site regarding high prolactin
"Men When a high blood prolactin concentration interferes with the function of the testicles, the production of testosterone (the main male sex hormone), and sperm production. Low testosterone causes decreased energy, sex drive, muscle mass and strength, and blood count (anemia). If levels remain low for several years, bone strength may decrease (osteoporosis). High levels of prolactin in the blood also cause difficulty in getting an erection, as well as breast tenderness and enlargement."
Although your testosterone levels may be within 'normal range', perhaps it may be suboptimal.
This could also be worth checking out: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3016409
All of these are just thoughts though. Wishing you the best.
hair loss is only triggered by hormones, malnutrition, stress, some meds, and autoimmune diseases (and/or excessively dry scalp).
things to look for in healthy individuals that experience hair loss are:
1) thyroid problems
2) PCOS
3) MPB
4) nutritional deficiencies
5) stress
assuming nobody here has autoimmune diseases or takes meds that could trigger hair loss (eg blood thinning meds, blood pressure meds, accutane)or is very old (age comes with hair loss too), you should only look for the triggers mentioned above.
pantothenic acid is known to boost testosterone a bit, and that's about it. there shouldn't rly be a reason for it to cause hair loss as millions of ppl who take it do not get hair issues. also B5 is actually used for hair growth so... maybe B5 caused you some increase in testosterone and your sensitivity to that change triggered hair loss. or maybe it caused you some deficiency in your other B vitamins that are vital for hair too. or some genetic predisposition or hormonal issue overlapped with your B5 usage and you got the hair loss at the time you took B5 thinking it was B5. or the B5 megadose dried your scalp out too much. there's no other way B5 could cause *permanent* hair shedding. not even Accutane causes permanent hair shedding for most ppl.
however it's true that recovering from B5 megadoses takes weeks to months, i found a study that says scientists reported B5 effects in bodily functions ofB5-fed mice for up to 4 months after discontinuation of B5.
