i hate all of this. how is it, of all things, an over the counter vitamin caused me hairloss? it's probably more likely my thinning just happened to occur at the exact same time i started taking the vitamin, right? this is the only forum i can find even discussing B5 hairloss besides like 5 different forums 20 years ago all made by the same guy. it all has to be a coincidence. there's no way it was the B5. it just seems so strange that while i can't even find a single ancestor that suffered from anything worse than a barely matured hairline, i had something much worse happen almost within a month when i was 18, completely coincidencing with the B5. it's all so odd, and i'm so tired of searching for the answer.
What brands of b5 did everyone take?
I took NOW and noticed that there is 45mg calcium per 500mg b5. Wondering if calcium has played a part here. I'm on the vitamin C forum where people are taking up to 10grams of pure b5 for over a year with no side effects which is confusing me. None of them got or are getting sides
I took Holland and Barretts own brand.
what I dont understand is how my hair is is still thin and my scalp still sensitive surely all the b5 that I took has to be out of my system by now its been years since I touched b5 but nothing is getting any better.
rather than just taking vitamins because I think itll work Ive been paying privately for blood tests with medichecks
the tests Ive had so far was zink that was normal
full iron and ferritin that was all normal
and my biotin was also in the normal range.
but something isnt right because Ive not recovered

Just to be clear, are you also saying that taking a B complex alone without individual B Vitamins also causes you hair loss?
With hair being made from EFA's, I heard that stress, amongst other things, impairs the ability of conversion of parent EFA's to metabolites andimpair critical Delta-6 desaturization, thus potentially impairing growth of hair.
Hi, im only 15 years old and i decided to take vitamin b5 panthothenic acid in hopes of eradicating my acne. I took 2 g for the first day and already experienced shedding of hair. The next day i dropped it to 1g a day but started to feel my hair become brittle and dry thats when the shedding started to happen. I stopped taking panthothenic acid and just eating a mineral and vitamin supplement consisting of only 20mg vitamin b5 and many other minerals including biotin 25mg and 25mg insitol i think. Please help i have no idea what to do about the hair loss whenever im washing my hair, about 20 hair follicles fall out from my head and my temples are starting to thin. Will my hair regrow back soon? Because i stopped taking panthothenic acid after i experienced all that. I took vitamin b5 500mg-1g and 2g for like 6 days only in descending order. What can i do about it? Do i wait it out? Please help!

NOWFOODS i only took it for 6 days but experience massive shedding after that. IDK what to do man :C but i didn't take like a super high dosage and stuff. Yeah im just gonna stop eating supplements from now and im gonna supplement them with food instead. My temple and crown area seems to be thinning doh especially my temples but its still not too obvious. Can i still take like a fish oil supplement?
There was a theory circulating on various web sites and groups that taking vitamin b5 depletes biotin.
i have been taking biotin every day for the last three months and havent had any increase in hair or decrease in loss so I wouldnt recommend going down the biotin route.
not sure about l cysteine will give that a good go and let you all know but havent got high hopes

i heard about it but im not sure if i should give it a go im going with that no supplement route from whatever spyder has told me and i also didn't consume b5 overdose for a long time at most 6 days and i stop and resumed taking normal supplements which consists of like 20 mg which i have now cut too. DO update us on it! Thanks! I don't want to go bald at the age of 16.
I agree just avoid any derived vitamin supplements especially if above the 100% rda.
you only took it for six days so I would have thought that you should fully recover least you have stopped very early on count your self lucky and I would also recommend that you stay well away from accutane it will damage your hair like b5 and worse

thanks for that, i think that its also because i continued to take a supplement which has vitamin b5 in it(20 mg). I still remembered like after a week of taking it i had the super yellow piss colour, also like one of the side effects of taking excess b5 so i just stopped completely, my hair is still shedding but its only 4 days or 3 that i have cut on supplements. Have u also been using any shampoo which might stop the hair loss or reduce it?

For some people B5 really hurts them.I am having thyroid tests done right now and just waiting on those. NextIm gonna have hormone levels checked and adrenal glands. I really feels like it has something to do with adrenal glands but Im definately NOTsure yet. They are so sensitive. Then gonna check All b vitamin levels.Ive had b12 and b9 checked before and they weregood. Just trying to knock out all the obvious things first. I have a friend thatis an MD for 20 years so they are helping me try to tackle this and trying to figure out what it is. I will post everything that I figure out in the next few months for everyone. I would really like to solve this so if you are having problems do your own research too. Go back and read all the comments from earlier.Lets figure this out. If anyone can chime in with any information it will really help others.Does anyone else on this forum have any other symptoms??
i feel like i have gassing i think thats really it, maybe feel abit more tired might be because of how the b5 burnt out my thyroid idk. I feel like im experiencing hair growth again as i can see some baby hair growing but im still losing like tons of hair in one shower??? I actually think this might all be linked toadrenal gland fatigue. I am now more tired after overdosing on b5 and have difficulty breathing ontop of that.

Might beadrenal gland fatigue at this point. Normally i think by eating healthy and exercise it would go away i think but considering how most people here overdosed for long term which depleted something drastically in the long run. Maybe cQ10 and magnesium might work. Try it out
