Yeah but it's better than not having hair. If someone isdesperate enough, the risk of low libido (which is just a risk and not guaranteed to happen)is worth it. I am finding the Spearmint to be a real solution for me. I've been doing the pull test for almost a week and no more hair is coming out. I am curious to hear if anyone else would be willing to try it and give a review.
Just an update that the Spearmint continues to work for me to curb the hairloss. For a few days I got lazy, skipped the morning cup and just drank one in the evening and I noticed my hair immediately began shedding excessively again. It was scary, so I went back to drinking it as soon as I wake up and another in evening and the shedding has stopped. I also made a pitcher of iced spearmint tea to keep in refrigerator for when I am just sick of making & drinking hot tea. I hate that keeping my hair seems to be dependent on this routine, but I did this to myself. I guess it could be worse. I am interested in anyone else's updates or results.
I am thinking about buying Spearmint capsules because I am so sick of drinking the damn tea. I wonder if they work as well as the tea.
Ive been looking at message boards and it also appears that many people who took the megadoses of b5 also now have hypertension in addition to hairloss-this seems to be something they didnt have prior. This suggests that we may have caused long term damage to our kidneys or adrenals, which rest on the kidneys, or both. It might be worth looking into a renal diet or renal supplements to attempt to right the wrongs we did.
On 10/10/2017 at 2:03 AM, Blue09 said:My theory has always been that its adrenal related as b5 affects the adrenals. Whats everyone taking at the moment? Has anyone managed to control the shedding. I think we need probiotic supplements for the gut, anti inflammatories and antioxidants. Im going to try niacin again, i read b5 can impact niacin levels in the body. I tried it once before but not for long as i struggled with the flush.
I partially agree with you here, adrenal fatigue is something that has persistently appeared on this forum, it's safe to say that the majority of the people on this forum seem to have some type of manifestation of adrenal fatigue (I'm not a doctor). However, of all my many hours perusing the internet and researching this hair loss / adrenal fatigue, I have never heard of an instance of adrenal fatigue causing hair loss similar to what is experienced on this forum.
I do agree that adrenal fatigue most likely created the issue (and is part of the issue) as the adrenals have a heavy influence on thyroid health, and extreme amounts of stimulation brought about by b5 could have definitely created an environment where the thyroid was compromised due to extreme adrenal fatigue / poor adrenal health.
With that said, I still hold the same position I have for quite some time. That the hair loss is a manifestation of a thyroid disorder simply because the symptoms being exhibited on this forum - hair loss in MPB shape, increased DHT in scalp, hypertension mentioned above, anemia (I personally had this) and the fact that the males who have resolved this hair loss did so with a thyroid supplement. Logically, I cannot draw any other conclusion since these are all documented symptoms of a thyroid disorder. Just because the problem doesn't show up on a rudimentary blood test, doesn't mean it's not there.
Just my opinion, again, not a doctor, but I'm trying to take a very logical approach to this whole situation, and I post this information with the hopes that it will help someone else as much as it has helped me. If you are going to fix this, my opinion is that you should be trying to address both the adrenal glands and the thyroid gland simultaneously.
Well I agree with you on many of your points with the adrenal fatigue. As far as thyroid issues, i have a slightly different angle on that. Many of the people on here and other forums have had their thyroid hormones checked and results were overall normal for everyone. Granted, testing thyroid hormones is not very accurate unless you do it very early in a.m. as levels fluctuates throughout the day, so the blood tests cant be totally accurate. But alsostudies have shown that with addition of thyroid medication, almost everyone will grow hair and have less shedding, even people without significant or any thyroid disease. Growing hair is definitely not a reason to take it-though-you will create a problem where there may not be one. Your thyroid will stop working if you are flooding your body with artificial thyroid
hormone. (I guess if you plan to be dependent on thyroid medication forever, it wont matter. )
I have an update on my Spearmint tea: 2 cups/daydefinitely reduces the shedding but I still was noticinglight, more-than-typical shedding occurring, especially if I wasnt super diligent about drinking it frequently. SoI then did what Blue09 suggested andaddeda few drops of Spearmint essential oil to some Nizoral shampoo (I read this shampoolowers scalp dht &cures some ppls hairloss/studies say it is as effective as minoxidil). I leave that on inthe shower for ten minutes with an old ladyshower cap. I have been doing thisevery other day and it has completely stopped all shedding. Im sitting here pulling on my very long hair and there isnt even onestrand coming loose.
Also Im noticing the Nizoral seems to curb oil production in my scalp-my hairhas always been quitethick (until now) and would get oily (like my face) after about 12hours. Going a single day without washing my hair wasout of the question for me, but this shampoo with Spearmint oil added inseems to dry everythingout in a good way. I feel like a more normal person now and less of a walking oil slick.
Luckily for me, I have always hadso much hair that I get like helmet head, so this dramatic loss isnt really noticeable to anyone else-I just look like Im using some type of smoothing product and people think Ive lost weight in my face.I would say Ive lost about 30% of the hair on my head. My scalpisnt showing yet and hairline normal. It will take at least six months for me to be able to comment on regrowth, definitely have growth but its tough to say whether this is regrowth of all that was lost.
Ilike the idea of topical treatment rather than systemically changing hormones, but Im not ready to stop the tea yetand see if this Nizoral/Spearmint Oilcan be a stand alone treatment. The Spearmint has also seemed to clear my skin, fixingthe original issue. It makes me wonder if Nizoral and Spearmint oil can safelybe used as a topical skin wash people with acne.
You are right about nizoral its one of the only things ive stuck with over the years. Most bodybuilders recommend it as it helps rid the scalp of dht. Another shampoo i read alot of good reviews about was megatek rebuilder which is actually for horses but many woman swore by it thickening and regrowing hair, even people recovering from chemo gave it good reviews. May have to give it a go.
I have a weird update to share. Last weekend, I was sitting on my sofa working and the sun outside was super bright-it was in the process of setting. It was beating down directly on the back of my head and I could feel the warmth from it, but I was so absorbed with work that I didnt bother to change positions, plus I live in an area that is cloudy most of the time, so it felt good. I sat like that for over an hour and since that evening, I seem to have no further shedding at all. Like my head appears to be completely back to normal.
Im not drinking the mint tea anymore. Actually I fucking hate it. Still using nizoral shampoo with Spearmint oil with the shower cap. I take zero supplements. Its been five days, so Im still kind of wondering if this is too good to be true-or wtf is going on. Unfortunately, we have not had any bright sunlight like that since then . Im thinking maybe the light or UV rays triggered some change in me. I have no idea. I just know it is nice to have one less thing to worry about and Im actually starting to get back to forgetting about my hair.
I will keep updating.
Hey guys has anybody taken topical finasteride?
I just got some Morr F from India, supposedly the side effects are way reduced or non-existent compared to oral fin but it's just as effective.
I've never tried fin because I don't want to fuck with my body any more with pills. Here is some more info on the product [Edited link out]
I'll let you know how it goes.
We have sun today finally, so Im out getting as much of it as I can on my head. Today I am taking no Spearmint tea and no supplements and also Im going to try no Nizoral for a few days just to see if the sunlight is working alone. As of right now, I have zero shedding except the few that come out normally in my hairbrush and shower. I am wondering if the b5 megadoses triggered telogen effluvium in me and now the extra sunlight has triggered some kind of anogen phase to begin.
Anyway, this is where Im at with my hair right now. I still have a lot of it but you can see where my part has gotten pretty thin.
Just a quick update to let everyone know I am still in full-blown non-stop shedding mode sinceFriday. Ive been back on the Spearmint tea as well as Nizoral (daily for now) mixed with Spearmint oil. It just doesnt seem to be working like it did, maybe I need time to build it back up in my system after my couple day hiatus.
I am scared and feel like there must be something, some solution, and Im just not trying hard enough to find it. Has anyone ever tried HairXcel from Nutracraft? Looks like it has an assortment of herbs andvitamins andminerals in it (including b5)-butI see lots of positive reviews from ppl on amazon, especially from women who are having shedding problems. Its main action is to lower dht. I am thinking of trying that next, its $30. I could care less about side effects of low dht, I just want to keep my hair. That takes precedence over sex drive or whatever else.
Im atthatpoint where if I continue to shed like this for anothermonth or so,I will need to buy some of that hair spray paint to hide my scalp from showing or just wear a hat
Hang in there katie ive been searching for 8 years now and another guy i know was searching for 13 years between us we have tried so many different things and nothing has ever stopped us shedding. What i will say is that the first year was by far the worst i could literally pull out about 6 or 7 hairs every time i pulled on my hair it was scary. Now sometimes i get 1 or 2 and sometimes none. Ive never believed it to be dht although i think dht lowering supplements will help. Iodine, magmesium, taurine and high quality probiotics helped me more than anything. Some multivitamins made it worse especislly in the early stages. I also think it causes TE but some people never recover and i think im one of them. Stay strong and try not to stress out about it as it will just get worse and worse x
I think the best thing to do is a liver and kidney detox followed by proper pre and probiotic supplements to help restore gut health. Maybe adrenal support too. X
Thanks for the kind words and advice. <_> Still in shed-mode. Lost about 50 so far today and its only noon. I dont really know whats right for me at this point, it seems that nothing works except huge amounts of stupid Spearmint tea, and even that doesnt seem to be working as well anymore. I am fully open to iodine and taurine and probiotics, Ill look into that tonight. Im against magnesium (it gives me weird bone pain.) I still feel in my <3 That this is a hormonal/dht issue. So my next order of business is Saw Palmetto and HairXcel. Im just going to keep trying. I know that I can find a solution.
Thanks. Right now I am in the process of reading through all 66 pages of this feed to gain insight. I see on page 30 someone named Hermetic posted a cure and then just sort of fell off the map. I wonder what ever happened to them? Has anyone tried their method of Raw Thyroid(no idea what that is),potassium iodide, and colostrum?
Ive tried colostrum many times i do love that supplement but sadly did nothing for hair but maybe a different brand would be better i only tried a cheaper version. Potassium iodide i have also tried but only via a dropper but i actually think the pill version would work better.
Ok, Ive been doing research most of the day today. Id like to share my findings. At no time during my six month+ hair shedding experience have I had a complete & total remission of any shedding except during thetime immediately following the day I had excessive sunlight exposure to my head. My remission lasted several days after that before reverting back to the current bullshit Im experiencing. So I found these studies done on shaved mice using UV light treatment to regrow hair: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3944668/
i believe there is some validity to this. Its a tough to read unless youre a scientist, but try.
