If so, what toxins?
sorry, I have no claim for it, I was just thinking may be it is just toxin from the binding ingredient. But may be not at all. I don't know.
we went to the doctor's office2 days agotrying to get some blood test, but he refused except check on his iron and B12 level, because he seems no energyand tired mostof thedays. Forgot to mention, he is a thalassemia minor.
When I was talking to the doctor about supplement, he has mentioned that all Canadian has to take D3 supplement at least 800iu per day.
And he also said if you don't drink milk, you willneed to take at least 1000 mg calcium supplement / day. you cannot get enough from food except from milk. since my soncannot takelactose , we avoid milk and cheese for so many years, and he said calcium is very important not just for bones but also for skin barriers to prevent infection. I was wondering if this is it we are lacking for so long? cause his face is always red and itchy and look infected.
we have just started to take2x pill contains (333calcium /165 magnesium/200 iu D3) for 2 days, we don't want to take the full dose justto be safe and might increase after a week or 2 and will seeif hewill get any improvement inacne.
I have known if you do not have enough magnesium, you can't use your D3, if you don't have enough D3, you cannotpick up calcium /zine in the intestine. so it is better to take them together just in case.

I doubt its the binding ingredient because we all probably took a different supplement brand. But I cant say for sure either.
Why doesn't he drink lactose free milk? You can buy it in grocery stores.
Anyway, vitamin d and magnesium/calcium are always a good idea. Just make sure you take a form that is easily absorbable
Not to discourage anyone but nothing positive to report for me. My hair has been going through an extreme shed and I been on the supplements you suggested Elme.
I also started taking black currant oil as this has been shown to regrow hair for individuals.
It's been very stressful seeing my hair thin so much recently and this might be contributing to the extreme shedding.
I just ordered Dutasteride again and going to give it another shot. I didn't have side effects the first time and I don't know what else to try at this point.

Same!!!!!!!!
I have never tried fin or dut but I am getting extremelyyyyy desperate at this point.
I am putting away 1k a month to save for a hair transplant, but I still need to stop the recession and miniaturizing.
My bad it was pj who mentioned dim, pj where do you order duta from, my hair still sucks nothing stops the shedding. Havnt taken any supplements in about 6-7 months. Got blood tests Monday to check a few things again so I'll let you lot know wif anything comes of it.

Wow Blue.. you're thinking of trying dut It's sad man.. I know how against fin/dut you were, as was I... Im still undecided but,,, if i dont do something now i'll be past the point of no return, which i am already kinda at.
I was thinking of trying fin at 0.25mg/day... which is 1mg tablet split in 4.
Possibly every other day to start.

Since both propecia and avodart address DHT, my hypothesis is that megadosing b5 either increases the amount of DHT produced by your body (by messing up the adrenals?) or increases the sensitivity of the hair follicle to DHT. Saw plametto is a natural DHT inhibitor, one may take it either orally or apply topically. Here is a topical thread for saw palmetto.
One may also avodart/propecia of course with the risk of side effects. There are also two experimental dht blockers you can only order from overseas, they are RU and CB, both are topical. CB is also used to treat acne.
Well... i guess this is hopeful if some others want to try propecia

I am currently on Dutasteride .5mg once per day, Rogain foam 2x per day, a ketoconazole shampoo 1% and 2%, and a steroid shampoo. My dermatologist told me to alternate between the shampoos depending on how bad my dandruff and irritated scalp is. It definitely has helped.
Using these three treatments, my hair shedding has slowed down and I am definitely am having regrowth. My temples finally have some hair coming back too! I am treating this as male pattern baldness and it is working. These are the best results I have had in the last 3 years since my hair started shedding from B5. Everything else I tried hasn't worked.
I am still convinced B5 messed with our hormones and triggered/kick-started Male Pattern Baldness.
The scalp Biopsy I had a year and half ago came back as Male Pattern Baldness and all my blood tests I have had done came back normal.
PJ, You said you had regrowth on temples here, why did u stop the dut???
I tried saw palmetto, it stopped my hair loss, but I had sexual side effects and was starting to get gyno so i stopped.. so don't be under the illusion that saw palmetto doesn't have sides, it has the same sides as fin. I was thinking about trying S5 cream (topical spiro) because its supposed to have no side effects.

HMMMM... I tried SP, at high doses,1280mg, 85-95% sterols... it has made me shed a lot more..... and it makes me hornier. I stopped using it.

There are many other pages too. A lot are using with rogaine/minoxidil but I rather not touch that for now.
I am getting finasteride tomorrow and will start at a low dose of .25mg either every day or every other day. Scared as hell, hoped I would never have had to resort to this drug but.... thanks B5!
Hi all - I wanted to quickly share my b5 story for anyone that would like more information. I am not a medical professional, nor am I recommending anything I say below, but here is what I experienced.
About 7 years ago I started taking between 4-6g of b5 capsules per day. I also included a b-50 complex, zinc, multi-vit, MSM/Gluc. My Acne improved immediately. My skin was clear for 3.5 years (the time I took b5). After 2 years, I added Biotin into the mix to combat hairloss.
Over time, I noticed the following side effects:
Joint/tendon pain
tiredness, desire to sleep
Increased urination
High thirst
dry eyes
scalp dermatitis
very dry skin
mild hair loss
brittle hair
After 3.5 to 4 years of b5 usage, alongside other vitamins, I decided to completely cut it off. My skin remained clear for about 1 year following the complete removal of b5 usage. I began to notice too many side effects after 3 years, including brittle hair and hair loss.
For me, the hair loss stopped once I removed the vitamins from my daily routine and gave my body time to recover. My skin remained fairly clear for 1-2 years of zero b5.
Over the last year, my hair remains fine, growth is great, no hair loss outside of the normal few pieces falling out. My acne has finally begun to come back, as well.
Hope some of this info is helpful to someone!

Nobody losing hair here is currently taking b5, glad it worked out well for ya
My hair has definitely stopped falling out now. My hairline is filling in nicely and my hair is thick all around. It still is a bit dry compared to before B5 but it's no big deal.
I definitely believe B5 caused some sort of hormonal issue and led to a decrease in my overall health.
Anyway, I took finasteride for 2 weeks exactly 1 year ago. I didn't have any bad sides while I was on the drug but some unpleasant sides that started after I quit the stuff. I'd be careful with finasteride/dut/saw palmetto

Please elaborate on the sides that appeared only 2 weeks on fin and then quitting? what sides? how long did they last? also i assume you were dosing 1mg/day for those 2 weeks?
I just don't see fin as worth it, it's so risky knowing you could mess yourself up, maybe not in 1yr, 2yrs, but probably in 5, 10... Same for dut.

I took B5 last year starting in May I believe. Hair started falling out a couple months later and ended in October when I started taking Detoxadine in high amounts.
What would you say has been the most beneficial in your re-growth?
@CraigstI take 50mg iron biglyscinate with some Vitamin C every couple of days. Can't say if it helped. My iron levels were low though, that's why I take it.
@sean jI don't know to be honest. I have played around with Detoxadine, Selenium, Cysteine, iron and biotin.
All are said to be beneficial for your hair.I don't take them every day though, just every 2-3 days a drop of detoxadine and 1 tablet each of the other stuff.
I think taking good care of your hair and scalp is important too
hii guys. I'm still having hair loss but it doesnt seem as extreme as in times past. I've come to live with it and am happy that even though my hair's thin i dont have bald patches. I did read reviews of topical saw palmetto which were really clearly promising. I'm a little scared about potentially f***** up hormones, do you think topical application would do that? But yeah look in to head massage with saw palmetto liquid, there are good reviews xx

Topical application has a lower potential side effects than ingesting the ingredient systemically. I can't say anything about the efficacy of systemic or topical saw palmetto though. Unless you have androgenetic alopecia I doubt it will do anything at all.
Have you ruled out all other possible causes? Maybe go to a dermatologist and have her look at it. If she thinks it's androgenetic try this:
Dermarolling 2x a week, applying minoxidil with castor oil one day and then topical saw palmetto the other.

isn't minodixil dangerous? X
