I love minoxidil, it caused regrowth in my temples but it's not enough to actually stop the hair loss completely. Though it probably has slowed it down, 3 years ago I was definitely losing way more hair.

But the bonus of minoxidil is that it acts as a weak hair gel without making my hair look thin as fuck. I look way more handsome when my hair is nicely styled, and I can almost hide that it's receded a couple of inches.

Oh ya???? Hmmmm.... I may have to try it. I've always been scared of it, because as soon as you stop you lose a shitload of hair and also its not good for the face, it ages it apparently (since it inhibits collagen)

Hey guys, for all the B5 and hair loss experts is it ok if I take 100 mg of B5 each day? I really want to take a supplement for adrenal fatigue but almostall of them contain high levels of B5. I have a receding hairline and don't to make it any worse.

There's been a few cases where the hair loss stops after supplementation. It's been random, anywhere from within the week to 4 years. The people that have forced the resolution of their hair loss have been taking different combinations of colostrum, thyroid supps and anti-inflammatories.

Hair loss cases have been reported at 1 gram and above, there have been no hair loss cases at such a low dose.

No one knows. Usually telogen effluvium would show up months after a trigger is first present. In my case my hair loss was instant.
My hair also mainly shed in the typical DHT-sensitive MPB areas. My guess is it made us more suspectible to MPB by either changing follicular sensitivity to DHT or by maybe eliminating the normal protective layer of the scalp(sebum).

hey guyes.... how is it going?

I just wanted to let you know I made the mistake too to take high dose of b5. I took it for 6 months, first months 10g per day at the end 2g per day. It helped with the oily skin & break outs but messed me up. I stoped May 2015. I experienced headache and similar things like marvoh. My full hair became thin and today I noticed my eyebrows are falling out. even though after a year that I stoped. I f**** scared.

Can we please keep the discussion going here guys???

I see Jimmyjoners apparently cured himself with using finasteride/propecia however he developed hypogonadism as a result and had to use TRT as a result. :(

Jimmy, if you're out there, update us please????

PJ, You said you had regrowth on temples here, why did u stop the dut???

I stopped because it might have been slowing down the shedding and possibly gave me regrowth, but it never amounted to anything substantial. I also remember I ran out, it was expensive, and I was concerned about the side effects.

I started up again a month ago and had terrible brain fog and headaches so I stopped again this time too. I could barely stay functional during the day. No sexual side effects though except minor groin pain which I had the first time around as well.

Still searching for a cure.... Right now I am taking the supplements elme suggested and using jojoba oil and aloe massaged into my scalp.

If it helps.. taking a combination of a thyroid support supplement and upwards of 10g of colostrum per day for 8 months, reduced my hair loss significantly.

That sounds like a significant thyroid issue, I'd definetly go to the doctors.

Thanks for the update man. Let's definitely keep in touch. I am in process of possibly arranging to get a transplant sometime this year. I want to rebuild hairline to solid NW2 at least! I was told i'd need 2000-2500 grafts for a terrific result. I'm NW3, top transplant surgeon said the center core of my hairline is very strong luckily.

I am 29 btw, how old is everyone now?

Yeah I wil NOT take fin or dut. it's tempting but apart from the possible sides, there's also the chance that it actually makes hairloss worse in some people.

BTW not sure if you remember Jimmyjones, the guy who had a b5hairloss website back in the day, he said propecia stopped his hairloss, but then he got hypogonadism and had to go on TRT.. anyways he isn't active on here but it looks like I saw him posting on a hairloss forum, IF it was him, he got a transplant now, and he will not use fin anymore.

I'm still around, I'll be 28 soon so about the same age as you. I also don't want to take fin, I tried saw palmetto already and that fucked me up enough (only temporarily luckily). I'm very against taking drugs or any pills for that matter since b5.

I'm also tempted by a hair transplant but I would rather wait another 5 years or so because there are some promising hair loss treatments in progress right now. My hair isn't so bad that, and most people don't even notice my hair loss.

What NW are you? I can easily hide mine as well, but life is short, why prolong the agony?

There has always been that '5 year' theory btw. Nothing ever comes along.

I would be very interested to see your hair, could we exchange pictures please? We should keep in touch!

Mr Bushido, which thyroid supplements did you take to slow down your hairloss?

I'm 27 btw. I would consider a hair transplant but I would want to stop the shedding before I do.

So how many here have actually tried just going on a completely healthy diet and exercise everyday to sweat out this vitamin toxicity without adding more supplements to the system?

I was quite the long time user of vitamin b5, and I did not notice my hair loss until I after I stopped exercising and slowly gained weight. Probably because I was not sweating out as much toxic as before and the vitamins just built up inside.

Anyway I'm back on with exercising every day and drinking lots of water, will update if anything helps.

I took 1 of Zhou Nutrition Thyroid Support, 200 mg selenium, 300mg ashwagandha and 10g + of symbiotics colostrum every day for 3 months, I took the colostrum for even longer (6-8 months)

I used to be losing hair fast, it was so bad you could see parts of my scalp - Now my inflammation is gone and I have thick hair to boot. I think what some people fail to realize is that if you have adrenal and possible thyroid problems, that they're linked, you need to combat them together or you may not get anywhere at all.

I think a few people on this forum weight train and eat a healthy diet, I am one of them. Also:
- There is no such thing as b5 toxicity
- You might be referring to magnesium stearate, but I know plenty of people who take 10 + supps a day coated with the stuff, and i did too without losing hair

I mean this sounds completely coincidental, but I've seen crazier things posted here

Bushido are you still taking those supplements? Also did you get your thyroid tested first?

I'm considering trying them since lethargy and brain fog has been a real issue for me. Which is frustrating because I know I can get more out of life with more energy.

I've been taking very low dose modafinil the last few days and it feels so great to have the energy to workout hard and be productive without having to force myself. But that's not a long term solution and I'm vary wary about it.

Like Modafinil (not as extreme) I took tyrosine for a while because of my extreme fatigue. It was similar to hair loss drugs though and it was just a band aid. I had fatigue so bad at one point I had trouble forming sentences, I also had severe insomnia because I had so much energy at night, and I noted that stimulants made everything way worse.

The stimulant energy kill was the biggest clue for me and the fact that a lot of people here were shouting adrenal fatigue. I tried to fix my fatigue for a year and tried the herbs that are supposed to help adrenal fatigue but they just stimulated me more and made everything worse (ashwaghanda being the exception). I was only able to fully restore my energy levels a couple of months ago by taking Adrenal cortex, 450mg magnesium and ashwaghanda.

This also corrected some other issues like digestive and gastrointestinal problems and my insomnia.I didn't get tested for thyroid issues because a few people said the tests weren't reliable. The thyroid supplements I took didn't do rly anything for my fatigue and if they did I didn't pick up on it.

Hope this helps,

Here is an interesting update! This user Beemm started a thread recently and found a study in which mice tookPantothenic Acid (B5) for a nervous system disorder.Themice developed alopecia but when Inositol was added, the hair loss stopped. Here is the study. http://www.cabdirect.org/abstracts/19411401109.html;jsessionid=58A0801394A79AEC459980189307C294

I read the thread. Inositol seems to be working for everybody (although not that many people trying it). Its in the B vitamin family (B8) so it being the soultion kind off makes sence.
