Guys, my hairline is starting to fill in on right side for sure, only 1 month into using RU. (Side effects have subsided btw, I used to have a dull headache throughout the day but this has stopped, and I drowned my hairline in RU last night.. lol)
If RU works and FIN/DUT don't work it sounds like B5 made our follicles sensitive to TESTOSTERONE and not DHT.
RU works simply because it blocks ALL androgens including TESTOSTERONE and DHT.
Can more people please try RU58841?

I doubt that. Think it has a lot do with gut and adrenals as well as altered follicular sensitivity.
Fin inhibits DHT by roughly 70%(tough to measure). Not everyone responds favorably hair wise to 5 Alpha reductase inhibition.
Lessened AGA is a side effect of finasteride treatment, not the aim. It's primarily used to shrink the prostate and decrease DHT in 5AR2 related areas(scalp, prostate, genital tissue). Along with less hair loss come other side effects in functions related to the inhibited hormones and metabolites such as less muscle, less sex drive, depression and estrogen related sides. The shady part is that not in all men the previously destroyed isoenzymes are produced again by the body or the new ones simply don't work as well any more which leads to the persistent side effects that continue or only come on after discontinuation of the drug. Fin as well as Accutane are sketchy medications and the only reason why they are still approved by the FDA is that they make a shit ton of profit for the manufacters and consequent lobbying aka corruption
Before/After RU pics, and only on RU 1 month!!!!
^^^these are my pics, btw.

I'm not advocating FIN, OR DUT.
I said RU58841.
I have never and would never use fin or dut.

If it covers the slick bare skin with more of these hairs then I would be extremely happy 🙂
hey guys, sorry for not checking in here earlier. I was in the hospital because of some ligament trouble in my knee. Before I was in the hospital I tried doing some research by reading through studies, scouring through the posts here and by experimenting with different supplements to see what works and what doesn't. I realized that I have no clue why my hair improved. I have theories but without any proof or evidence they are just that, theories. Anyway, if you guys want I can post the complete list of stuff I did in the last few months where I started seeing improvements in my hair. Beware though, I'm not advising anyone to buy and take all the supplements I did. I took most of them for a different reason than hair

Yes please dude :'(
2 Tablets of Bio-Kult probiotic
3 Drops Detoxadine (2000mcg)
6mg Boron
1000mg Vitamin C
200mcg Selenium
Chelated Calcium and Magnesium(500mg and 250mg)
1 glass of water with lemon juice
about 15 minutes later: 75mg Iron Biglyscinate
3 times a week: Cup of hot water with one tablespoon of himalaya salt
Around midday:
268mg Vitamin E
750mg GABA
450mg Ashwagandha
1500mg fish oil
Once I get home from work:
Glass of filtered water with 1 teaspoon spirulina powder, 600mg NAC-L-Cysteine powder and 5g L-Glutamine
Before sleep:
10 000IU Vitamin D
1000mg Vitamin C
5mg Melatonin
50mg Zinc(I rotate this with 2mg copper; so one day zinc and then the next copper and then one day no zinc and no copper)
I try to drink a lot of tea, especially homemade ginger tea. It really helps with lowering inflammation from the inside. Inflammation is the real reason for hair loss.
A lot of the supplements I take have anti-inflammatory properties. I don't drink any caffeine or alcohol, except for a cup of green tea when I'm really tired.
I'm not saying you can't consume these 2 substances but I think they are both detrimental to overall health. If you drink a lot of coffee I'd substitute it with green tea first and then slowly wean off green tea.
Apart from that I eat a healthy, varied diet with a lot of fruit, vegetables and protein. I avoid sweets, fast food and too much dairy.
I try to keep stress levels low, get good sleep and exercise regularly. Overall just develop healthy habits. Taking good care of my hair and scalp by regularly oiling and brushing my hair are part of that too. Oils I'd recommend: Cold pressedcoconut and emu oil
Hello there, I am also a sufferer of hair loss due to vitamin b5.
I took about 6 grams of b5 daily for about 2 weeks, until I noticed my hair was extremely dry. When I touched it, it felt like it wasn't my hair on my head haha, probably because I wasn't used to it, my hair always got greasy kinda fast. I stopped taking b5 immediately. The hair got a bit less dry, but still hair is falling out more than it should. Also wanted to mention that I was taking L-cystein as well, so those who are wondering if it can prevent hair loss, IT WON'T. And I tookmultivitamin the whole time and many months before, so I believe the theory of b5 draining other B group vitamins is bullshit. The theory I like the most is that hair loss is due to toxicity of b5 or some binding agent, not labeled on the package.
The other problem I got from b5 is adrenal burnout or HPA dysfunction. I managed to get this diagnose by myself from hours of research on internet,so it could be wrong, but it surelooks like something is wrong with my neurotransmitters. It seems like I have too much Norepinephrine a.k.a noradrenaline going in my system. It makes me fearfuland very jumpy. This is hard to explain but my sense of danger is over the top. Some simple things could scare me or make me uncomfortable. Thisall happened because of consuming caffeine and mega doses of b5 together. Before I started taking b5, I was taking pre-workout pills with 300mgof caffeine, one a day, but I kinda had built up a tolerance to it. As soon I hit the b5, I could feel the caffeine working again and even stronger, that was amazing, I had so much energy and felt great, I could get up in the morning easily and after a minute Ifelt so fresh. And this continued until shit hit the fan. So I stopped consuming caffeine overall, my daily intake is straight 0. Things got way better at this point, but still I can feel the symptoms a little, but totally not as before.Probably I should see a doctor about this issue if it persists. I'm thinking how I should explain this the easy way, sounds kinda crazy haha.
Well maybe these two things are connected, who knows.
Anyway I'm seeing a dermatologist on 15th, so I will def ask his opinion on b5 hair loss. Maybe I will have some blood tests done.I will let you know.
Take care.

Take 1000mg Vitamin C every morning and night. Also start drinking himalaya salt. Maybe give GABA and L-Theanine a shot. Begin meditating on a daily basis. Magnesium is supposed to be good for anxiety too.
I guarantee you the problem is adrenals and not neurotransmitters. Problems with cortisol are really bad for hair also. If you follow the steps I outlined above, I'm sure you will feel better in as little as a month.
Do you have serum and saliva cortisol values? If you are interested in some more info about this you can PM me.
Oh and also keep on avoidingcoffee/pills with caffeine. You will just burn out your adrenals even more. Substitute with some light green tea if you need a boost.I assume you're male so I would also try nofap. I've read a lot of positive stuff about it's effects on brain chemistry and like you mentioned, neurotransmitters. Your hair situation won't improve unless you improve your underlying health problems.
Your dermatologist won't know anything about B5 hair loss but it won't hurt to ask. My guess is he/she will diagnose telogen effluvium.
If you want some clarity regarding your self diagnosed adrenal burnout(I had the same thing btw) you need to go to a endocrinologist. If you do a blood test you should check for certain thyroid, adrenal and nutritional values. But these are complicated. If you want you can message me and I'll tell you which tests to get and what they mean.

Thanks for the reply!
I see you have done your research, because your tips are really on point.
You see, adrenal glands are just a one player in the team of HPA axis. Some doctors doesn't use the term adrenal burnout, but rather use HPA dysfunction. If you're interested you should read upon it.This whole system tells to adrenal grands what hormones and what neurotransmittersto produceand how much to release into bloodstream. Also it operates on a feedback loop.In my caseit looks like something is off andby the symptoms I suspect norepinephire and guess who also regulates its release into the bloodstream? Haha you got it, it's adrenal glands.
You are right, Magnesium and Vitamin C are the best thing for adrenal health.
GABA and L-theanine are supposted to belike the brakes on the stress hormones likenorepinephrine and epinehrine. I havent tried l-theanine yet, but GABA doesn't seem to help me.
Surprisingly what helps me is a B complex. It is known that these vitamins help to regulate neurotransmitters. I take onewith the recommended daily values hitting around 100% and not those crazy ones hitting thousands.
No I haven't got any tests done yet, I even can't remember when I was at the doctor last time. I have a quite healthy lifestyle. I workout and eat good. I weight 93kg and my abs are visible, that should tell you something haha. I avoid caffeinelike the devil now, not even drinking green tea or any kind of teabecause of the caffeine content. All I can say my energy levels are good, I can live without the caffeine easily. To my surprise my mind feels quite speedy, like I'm on a small dose of amphetamine or something andI get a bit sleepy around 2pm, it feels just like a caffeine crash, although I didn't consume any caffeine. Interesting right ? I think this is where my norepinephrine levels gets low and my body and brain gets a brake from being wired and it wants to get a some rest as soon as possible.
Oh yeah, also the hair problem...My hair feels way dryer than it was, does that fall undertelogen effluvium?Do you think hair loss, dryness of the hairand adrenals are connected here? Well from your supplement suggestions it would make sense, right? And do you believethat b5 single handedlycaused your adrenal problems also? What was your caffeine intake when you did the b5?My theory is that megadoses of b5 lets your adrenal glands to be overstimulated beyond your body's safe limits until they brake. And one of the symptoms of malfunctioning adrenalsalso being hair loss. What a coincidence, right?
I have read probably all the pages on this topic and the adrenal burnout or fatigue, call it how you want, came up many times here. People saying they felt great for a while taking b5, until they startedfeeling fatigued and low energy.I suspect this is the point when the adrenalglands brake. I had the same thing, but my energy levels are back, maybe not a 100% but its much better.

Thanks, I know a bit about the hypothalamus-pituitary-axis and the HPTA as well but I did most of my research in my native language. I would call what you experience dysregulation and not dysfunction.I am not taking any B Complex at the moment. I tried it before but it didn't give me anytangible benefit but then again it was a cheap store brand.
I think you should definitely not underestimate thyroid in this. The pituitary also controls the thyroid, The thyroid and adrenals are intertwined. You should read up on hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and hyperparathyreodism. These can all cause hair loss and symptoms similar to what you describe. A good thyroid exam includes a sonography(ultrasound of the thyroid) and blood tests for the following: TSH, fT3, fT4, rT3 and TSH-antibodies.
I would also purchase a24h saliva cortisol kit. They are available online for about 50 bucks. Serum cortisol only indicates whether or not your body is able to produce sufficient cortisol. My serum cortisol was perfect so my endo immediately dismissed something being wrong with my adrenals.Saliva shows you how much is really being used. I'd be willing to bet that during the period where you feel crashed your saliva cortisol is not in the reference range. Mine wasn't either. If you look at the list of supplements I posted earlier, you will see ashwagandha in there as well. It supposedly regulates adrenal hormone function.
As for your questions: Telogen effluvium is a bit of a umbrella term. It's used by people in the medical field to describe atypical hair loss that occurs suddenly and in full force and then usually resolves itself. It is thought to be induced by a stressor. Some people here had a theory that the B5 or ,as you mentioned, a binding indegrient could be this stressor. I'm not sure what to think of this. I mainly lost hair on the hairline and TE is usually adiffuse hair loss. However, around the time my hair improved I did a lot of procedures that help with detoxing the liver, kidneys, adrenals and colon so it could be that I got rid of some binding ingredient.
Yes, dry hair is related to some bodily function being off.Thyroid and adrenals could be the culprit. It's important you nourish your scalp and take good care of it. I reccommend aloe vera gel, emu oil and coconut oil as well as scalp massaging to increase blood flow. I also did exercises to strengthen my scalp muscles and keep them relaxed to help with blood flow as well. I did some yoga too where I focused a lot on the neck. If your neck is tight your brain and scalp won't get enough blood.
I don't think B5 caused the adrenal problems single-handedly. Rather, I think the B5 just tipped meover the edge. I had bad sleeping habits for a long time before and even during B5 supplementation. I also smoked a lot of cannabis in the months preceding B5 and cannabis puts a strain on the adrenals too. I never drank much coffee but I remember that around the time of the B5 disaster(btw, I only took it for 2 weeks like you did) I experimented with caffeine pills(100mg a piece) to help with studying and working out.
Question to all: Who was taking antiobiotics for acne before B5? Any other antibiotic therapies? This could be relevant

Yes, I actually confused dysregulation with the other one.
I have read upon all the thyroid issues before.Well honestly I do not believe that this is my case. Thyroid issues really seem to mess up with pulse and blood pressure, but I have a home monitor and mine is just fine. Also adrenals and thyroid work together, if your adrenals going to hard the thyroid will be suppressed and vice versa. And more than often thyroid problem is just an adrenal problem.
I just feel like I'm on stimulants when I'm not. And what stimulants such as caffeine and amphetaminesdoes is that theyincreases norepinephrine levels. That's why I'mquite sure on this one.
I've read a lot on another forumand people were saying that thecortisol should calm youdown and reduce the norepinephrine, so maybe I dont have enough of it I wonder. Yes I know about ashwaghanda and how it regulates cortisol. I will give it a try.
I have never drank coffee also but the pills wereenough of caffeine to brake something for both of ushaha. I would bet you felt awesome when you started taking b5 until the crash.I will try to heal my adrenals for a while and see what happens.
Thought I'd share some pics to illustrate what I mean by my hair not shedding anymore. All the pics are from mobile but I hope you can see what I mean.
This is my hair about 2 months pre-B5(At this point I had never noticed losing a single hair):
I have had a slightly receded, high hairline since birth but I always had thick hair and was able to cover it pretty well. Here's a pic of my hairline as a kid:
I shedded pretty hard and this is my hair when it was at it's worst last winter:
This is my hair about a month ago. I had just dried it and did some dermarolling, that's why my skin is so red.
As you can see the basic shape of my hairline is still the same as when I was a kid and my hair is pretty thick.
This is my hair slicked back with a brush and blowdryer fully exposing my hairline3 days ago:
I've been growing my hair out for a few months now after buzzing it off. I have some pics of me with a buzz cut too if anyone's interested.
Here's my hair with a modern undercut(sorry for the shitty filter):

Is that one with the mirror ? I have heard of it but havent done it yet. My pupils are going crazy anyways, they are bigger than usual all the time.As I said before I feel like Im on a low dose of drugs, but without the fun haha.
Oh gosh I have never had such hair in my life, congratz on getting it back.
I did the flashlight test, and yeah it looks like Im positive for adrenal fatigue, my pupils have trouble contracting and are going back and forward.
Yes that's the one.I did it too but the results were pretty inconclusive, to me at least.
However I also noticed that my pupils seem larger than normal most of the time.
I figured you would be positive for AF. Anyway, my recommendation still stands: Get some blood tests done by an endocrinologist, do the supps I recommended as well as meditating and maybe turn down the intensity and frequency of your workouts for a while. Intense workouts burn out your adrenals like mad. Take it easy, focus on sleep, rest and de-stressing.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here or via PM.

Wow. you hair looks amazing.
When you had worst shed, to now, it looks like your hairline improved a lot!!! how???
IT IS THE WATER!!!! Weacne prone ppl are allergic to chemicals. STOP using them!!
Our skin and hair can't handle Free Chlorine (Cl-), Combined Chlorine ( Sodium Hypochlorite), Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell) andIron Oxide (rust water)
Get a filtered shower head!!!! You will be amazed how your water is damaging your skin and hair. A filter will filter chemicals making your hard water softer. Trust me, I have tried everything before I started washing my body with only filtered water. Wash your face with combinations of honey, lemon, and coconut oil and sugar for exfoliation. Thayers Witch Hazel (No Alcohol) as toner. Use aloe Vera gel as moisturizer. Tea tree oil is great too. Best of wishes.
Please Spread the Word!!!!
