It took maybe 2 months on RU to see growth and seemed like a slow process. The growth wasn't noticeable to anyone except me because there were only small (but terminal) hairs popping up. The side effects I had and unknown side effects (who knows what this stuff is doing systematically to our bodies) are not worth it in my opinion.
I know you're desperate and I was too but you don't want to end up with cancer, etc. years down the road.
I agree with pjjordan. It's just hair. Nobody knows the long term effects of RU. I think you should give the following things a try and if they don't work either buzz it or switch to minox(I'd say minox is the "safest" option of the available hair loss treatments even though it has possible side effects too; I wouldn't touch fin or any other unresearched stuff like RU etc,): Healing your scalp with aloe vera, gentler shampoos, massage and oiling; Use biotin, iodine, magnesium, Vitamin C, cysteine, zinc...play around with supps until you maybe find something that sticks. Iron could be helpful too if your ferritin is low(like mine). If you can't get any improvements that way I'd say fuck it, just buzz it off. No one gives a shit I assure you. Get a tan, hit the gym and stop worrying about hair. The months where I buzzed my hair off I was the happiest and calmest about my hair in a very long time. Hell, it might even suit you really well. If it doesn't, who cares? Just rock it. Who cares what other people think.
Besides even if you take all the possible hair loss medications, minox, fin, ru, nizoral etc., you won't just one day wake up and magically have Brad Pitt's hairline. Most likely results will take years to be noticeable by anybody but your overanalyzing gaze and most likely it will not look that good. That's the problem with hair loss. Once it's gone it's very hard to make it look the same again

Thanks pjjordan.
I am 6 days on RU, so far so good, side effects seem to be diminishing more and more (mostly bit of a headache after dosing but its random), and any sexual side effects I was worried about seem very very mild if non-existent.
I think you guys are very smart to be cautious, however this is an androgen receptor antagonistthat was studied at least somewhat in humans. It's not like we're putting plutonium on our heads..
If it works in regrowing some hair on temples or stopping hair loss and thickening existing hairs I will be a happy man

Could just wait for Replicel Hair Regeneration, due 2018 too. At this point in time, I figure it makes more sense to lose it if I am going to and restore it down the line since recent hair breakthroughs have laid the foundation for effective hair restoration treatments in the next decade.
WHAT. My hair is thinning AND I've been taking B5 for my skin. THIS EXPLAINS ALL OF THE THINGS. AUGH.
Does anyone know if B12 or anything else also causes hair loss or if it helps new hair grow? I've been taking folic acid to make it grow and massaging my hair with rosemary oil, but maybe now I'll start to see results if I just stop with the B5...

How many grams of B5/day and for how long have u been taking it?
RU58841 is working on my temples slowly. It hasn't even been a month but looks like hair miniaturization is reversing slowly.
I am VERY strongly considering getting on Avodart (dutasteride)
Long time since I've been on this thread (or indeed this site) but it seems very few people have had any success with their hair loss since I was last here. For the past few months I've been reluctant to take the Finasteride tablets provided by my doctor but I've decided that i'll start in the next week. The success rate differs from differs from person to person, with lots of success/horror stories but I really feel this is probably the only shot at curing baldness....either that or a super expensive hair transplant (e.g wayne rooney style)
)
Did you get on fin?? Any results yet? any sides?
I'm hoping this will help us in the future http://www.hairlosscure2020.com/huge-development-ruxolitinib-and-tofacitinib-could-also-regrow-hair-in-androgenic-alopecia/
I have not had any issues with that. What are all the supplements you are currently on?
Has anyone had any success with the Selenium/Iodine? I have not yet and my scalp has been very irritated recently and I have been shedding much more than usual right now. Thought it was decreasing but it's not.
Hey guys, just wanted to check in and say I've been able to stop and reverse my hair loss using the stuff I outlined in my previous posts.
My hair is about 90% of how it was pre-B5 and it is getting better on a weekly basis. Not just in terms of my hairline but also in the way it looks, shines and feels.

Hi how are you doing? I was wondering if you could repeat (sorry) exactly what has helped you reverse your hair loss, cos scrolling back youve said loads of stuff about minodixil which im scared to try, dermarolling which im not sure if girls with long hair can do, and supplements. Which of these worked in the long run? Happy for you that you sorted it out
xx

My hairline seems to be improving, especially on the right side (the side with less receding). 1 month into RU.

If you have found the cure, you need to please take the time to make a very detailed post sir. <3
Here is the info from your last post, it is very vague, we would need dosages and etc.

It works ingeneralby reducing inflammation.
There's another arthritis drug a lot of guys in hair loss community are using called 'sulfasalazine'.
To quote swiss
Not confirmed but it basically blocks the inflammation which is the real downstream problem from dht which is causing the damage and it reduces harmful prostaglandins while increasing the production of beneficial ones. There is some wnt interaction too but that involves wounding. Think of it like this, things like dermarolling release growth factors but they also inflame and hurt the tissue. Now on one of these drugs you could potentially get all the benefits but hardly any drawbacks of something like that due to the potent anti inflammatory action of the drug
Okay I will make a write-up once I have time. I'll tell you now though, Its not as simple as taking X supplement at 150mg every day and tbh I dont completely know which supplements help and which dont. I dont want that people just go out and blindly buy every supplement I list and possibly disrupt their bodies more. I have a few theories as to why we lose hair and what to do about it but I cannot say with certainty.
@MikeLev
Most people react well to it and it will probably help your hair. But there is a chance for persistent damage. Tread carefully and dont take it unless you are desperate
Agreed elmechanico and look forward to the write up.
You were on dut right?
Any sides other than the ones you listed that only lasted a month?
I am worried about long term sides from inhibited neurosteroids, msessing up gaba system, etc.
Did it help with hair? how long were you on it?
RU sort of seems safer at this point than DUT..
B5 has completely raped my hairline... makes me think was this B5?? maybe it's just MPB?

sorry dude but you know how desperate we all are. You're about the only one whose reversed it so i'm all ears I guess. I don't really have the option of a 'buzz cut' ...
Yes I was on Fin and Dut. Neither worked or nothing that I noticed. No real sides though.
RU seemed to be the only thing to grow my hair, didn't stop the shedding, but the sides were incredibly unbearable with only the smallest amount used.
I had the bad headaches.. some chest pain... it has all subsides pretty much now.. 1 month in.
🙂

Just to confirm, fin/dut did not stop shedding nor hairline recession???
RU managed to grow new hair at hairline?
