Im still experimenting with supplements etc, atm the hair feels better than ever since hairloss started. Not sure about regrowth/thickening but feels better. Wont say anymore cause I said this too many times and got my hopes up and yet it still gets worse after a while again.
Taking this atm
Progesterone
Thyroid glandular
Iodine
ands loads of vitamin/mineral/superfood supplements
Im going down the thyroid route since I have had many symptoms which can relate to hypothyroidism.
Will report back
Good luck and I hope it turns out well.
At the moment i'm on Vitamin D3, fish oil and MSM. I think the MSM is quite a good anti inflammatory but I've taken it for a few months and I can't say I've noticed faster hair growth. I think i'm going to buy some more zinc and try the Nioxin shampoo as my next steps to save my hair.
I'm still trying to research the effects of Black tea/Green tea on DHT levels as some people say they are major DHT blockers and others say they actually increase/promote DHT in the body which in males accelerates baldness.
Ok guys found a couple of good posts.......

[YEA] I have had acne for years - was geting worse till I saw a site w. info on B5 for acne - B5 helped my acne.. About B5 - I'm not sure how/why it works - I take about 3,000 mg/day. But, it can cause hair loss - remedied by taking L-LYSINE (1,ooo mg), BIOTIN (1,ooo mg) and I also take Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg. - This info is somewhere on http://www.clearskin.net (General Acne discussion) - you can SEARCH. The B5 worked immediately for me- strange.

I tried 4 grams a day with 250 mg l-carnitine and after about 2 months I lost a ton of hair. I lost so much hair in random spots such as :left side of my forehead head about 3 inches back from where the hairline begins all the way to the back of my head about 1 inch wide balding line, sides of my head, and also my sideburns became really curly and sparse. I immediately stopped when I read it could cause hair loss, at that point I could literally reach and pluck a finger full of hair out if I wanted too with ease, I could run my hand across my hair and a 20 or so hairs could fall out. It took about 5 months before I got regrowth and this was while taking l-cysteine, saw-palmetto, and Methionine. So be careful how you use vitamin B5, it's been said that l-cysteine and biotin can help prevent hair loss but that's not been tested.
Me and a few others tried l-cysteine but I only tried for 1 month. Also the top post l-lysine and alpha lipoic acid both seem very interesting especially the alpha as it removes poisons from your body, and we most definitely made are bodies toxic with the amount of b5 we took.
L-cysteine
Methionine
L-lysine
Alpha lipoic acid
Biotin
Saw palmetto or beta sitosterol
Mabe these actually are possible cures, but need to be supplemented for longer periods say 6months.
Ya let me just tell you all this. Don't expect something to work in just a few weeks or even 1-3 months. It takes time to regrow hair, or fix imbalances in your body. If you start taking a supplement that you know will cure this, it wont happen over a night.
And this is the shitty part, we have no idea what to do/what to take + it takes alot of time to see if it actually works or not.
I had some hair loss after using b5 and I think it stopped after supplementing with vitamin D3.
This week I tried super doses of Niacin and L-Carnitine (without vitamin b5) to see if they can get rid of my acne. After 2 days on this regimen I had major hair loss.
I've never lost so much hair in my life. I dont know if it was the Niacin or L-carnitine but this scared the hell out of me
Well I've tried niacin a few times but in small doses and it never seemed to accelerate my hairloss, then again I havnt heard of hairloss from l-carnitine either it's suppost to be really good for hair, depends on what doses you took.
Also vitamin d3 is one a take a lot but sadly it never stopped my hairloss
Elessarx- has your hair loss slowed at all?
I would recommend that people try taking protein supplements. They contain most amino acids, including L-Lysine, L-Cysteine and L-Methionine which play a big role in hair health/growth.
I also eat a lot of protein too and drink at least 3L of water a day.
Every morning I drink a glass of juice with 2 tablespoons of ACV because it helps keep your digestive system and the pH-value of your body in check.
I've also started meditating and practicing deep breathing exercises to increase blood flow to the scalp. I have also started the No-Fap challenge because it helps with acne, hair loss and anxiety. I would definitely recommend the guys on here try it ( http://yourbrainonporn.com/ ) Hair loss is very much related to emotional stress.
All in all my hair loss has slowed down over the last 6 months and I don't lose that many strands anymore. I think my shedding is on a normal level currently when you consider that the average person loses between 50 and 100 strands of hair a day.
My temples are still a bit thin but I notice new regrowth coming in every week, albeit it is still very thin. I have also noticed that my arm hair and eyebrows have gotten thicker.
These are the supplements I currently take:
50 Mg Zinc (Also contains Copper and Calcium)
30 Mg Iron
3000 IU Vitamin D3
A complex containing B6,B12, Folic Acid and Potassium Iodide
2 Scoops of Whey Protein Powder
I have stopped taking fish oil capsules because they seem to cause my hair to shed more.
Next week I will add in a new Multivitamin and the Alpha-Lipoic Acid as I heard it combats poisoning of the body and you excrete leftover toxins through urine.
I hope this is of some use, take care!
My hair looks like shit. Brittle, curly and Iv lost alot in the front now.. starting to show big time.
Iv ordered colostrum. I am going to take 10 grams a day like hermetic suggested. I will let you know how it goes.
Has anyone tried Raw Thyroid? It sounds a little bit dangeous but promosing.
Just checking back in. If anyone wants me to post some pics I will. I took pics regularly between January and about August. I have not taken any pics since August but I'll try to take some this week or next week once I get a haircut.
I am still pretty convinced that it's MPB simply because nobody has been able to stop it without Propecia and Im mainly losing in MPB areas(temples, crown and part line).
I will wait until my 19th birthday(May) and if there is still no change then, I will hop on Finasteride as well.
@itsoveriknowiknow
How often do you shampoo? My hair is very soft, shiny and feels great. It is just thinning at the temples.
I hardly ever use shampoo, I just mix ACV with water and Tea Tree Oil and lather it up and leave it in for 20 or so minutes before rinsing it out. I also take really cold showers as that helps prevent the scalp drying out. I also apply a mixture of water and olive oil to my scalp pretty much every day now

Have been on colostrum now for 4 weeks (10 grams/day) and no changes so far. sorry, don't want to discourage.
Has anyone tried meditation/NoFap?
What's NoFap? I imagine that meditation would be a good thing to try anyway as stress is apparently a big factor in hair loss. It's ironic that I've seen a 65-70% improvement in my acne this past 10 months but now i'm more stressed about my receding hairline.
Has anyone on here tried Coconut oil? At the moment I'm still taking zinc (25mg but i'm thinking of increasing to 50mg) and i'm putting organic coconut oil on my hair as a conditioner. I know it may sound crazy but some people swear that it makes their hair grow faster/adds volume by stimulating the hair follicles. Its extremely moisturizing and contains natural acids which, in theory, should be beneficial for hair growth.

NoFap is the act of completely abstaining from porn and masturbation. It helps with stress and depression and many users claim they see reduced hair fall.
It's the same with me and my acne, it's pretty much completely gone away but now I'm losing my hair.
I have been taking 50 mg zinc for a couple of months now, just make sure you are taking a zinc supplement that also contains copper as you can become copper deficient if you take high doses of zinc supplementation for a extended period of time.
As for your oil therapy, I regularly use olive and castor oil on my hair and scalp.
I have seen scientific studies which claim that olive oil regrows hair(in the same way you explained it for coconut oil). It also helps keep my scalp healthy.
Castor oil has been used for a long time to grow fuller eyelashes, eyebrows and also hair. I've been applying it to my hair and eyebrows for a few months now and I think there is an improvement. I have not tried coconut oil myself but I have heard good things about it so my maybe I will give it a shot.
I usually just mix 1 teaspoon of each oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil(to kill fungus and bacteria) with 1 teaspoon of water and then appy it to my scalp and hair and leave it in for a few hours
@ Elmechanico
I don't take a zinc supplement that has copper but I actually get quite a decent amount of copper in my diet. I eat quite a lot of 85% dark chocolate which has quite a decent amount of minerals, and is high in copper. Maybe I'll stick to 25mg of zinc just to be on the safe side. I'm using Avalon organics biotin shampoo which actually does create the impression that my hair has more volume but it also makes my scalp itch a bit. I'm hoping if I use Coconut oil it will help with this.
@Ruman what makes you believe this? My pubic hair and armpit hair is hasn't lost density, in fact it has even gotten fuller. Same on my legs. My arm hair is a bit sparse but it has always been that way
I wouldn't worry. 50 mg is nothing to be scared about, the zinc/ copper relation usually comes into play when you take upwards of 200mg of zinc as your body can not absorb the copper anymore. 50mg is the recommended dose on many forums(bodybuilding for example; for clear skin, better manly function [increased sex drive and increased ejaculation volume]).
By the way, I came across this statement: "It seems the B-5 shrinks the pore, reducing oils secretion therfore reducing acne, but then the follicles on the head are also affected and they shrink, cutting off the hair."
I am not sure if I should believe this. I thought it was impossible to shrink a pore but in theory, it sounds plausible
It could be true. This is depressing
Maybe this is not permanent since my acne came back
This is just the normal cycle of MPB.
I have found these interesting quotes: "In this article we will present to you information about Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) as a treatment for acne. We will explain the role of Vitamin B5 in the metabolism of fats and oils, and how increasing the metabolism of oils will reduce oil accumulation in the skin, and thereby reduce or eliminate acne. Both Accutane and Vitamin B5 work by different mechanisms. Accutane works by shrinking the sebaceous glands at the root of the hair follicles. However, Vitamin B5 works by reducing the oil production of the sebaceous glands. This is done by increasing Coenzyme A (Co-A) which increases the metabolic breakdown of oils by normal activity of cell physiology.
"Pantothenic acid is a major component of Co Enzyme A (see diagram above). CoA is used at the cellular level for fatty acid oxidation and in many other biochemical reactions in the cell. Taking additional B5 increases the amount of Coenzyme A available for use in the cell. The more Co-Enzyme A, the more fatty acids can be metabolized, which means they are oxidized or burned up as energy production."
"Acetyl CoA is the first step in the body's synthesis of Cholesterol. Cholesterol is then used to make all steroidal hormones. Many of the steroidal hormones are made by the adrenal gland, so it is very logical that B5 deficiency can result in a syndromes called adrenal failure, or the inability to synthesis steroidal hormones such as Cortisol. See my previous article on Adrenal Fatigue for more information about this syndrome."
Edit: more quotes :"The Effect of Pantothenic Acid on Acne Vulgaris
One hundred patients of Chinese descent were included in the study, 45 males and 55 females. The age ranged from 10 to 30, and with about 80% between 13 and 23. The severity of the disease process varied. They were given 10 grams of pantothenic acid a day in four divided doses.
To enhance the effect, the patients were also asked to apply a cream consisting of 20% by weight of pantothenic acid to the affected area, four to six tines a day. With this treatment regimen, the response is as prompt as it is impressive.
There is a noticeable decrease in sebum secretion on the face usually 2-3 days after initiation of therapy. The face becomes less oily.
After two weeks, existing lesions start to regress while the rate of eruption of new acne lesions begins to slow down.
In cases with moderate severity, the condition is normally in complete control in about eight weeks, with most of the lesions gone and new lesions only to erupt occasionally.
In those patients with severe acne lesions, complete control may take months, sometimes up to six months or longer.
In some of these cases, in order to get a more immediate response, it may even be necessary to step up the dose to 15-20 grams a day. In any event, the improvement is normally a gradual and steady process, with perhaps minor interruptions by premenstrual flare or excessive intakes of oily food. With this form of treatment, another striking feature is the size of the facial skin pore.
The pore size becomes noticeably smaller within one to two weeks, very often much sooner. Like sebum excretion, the pores will continue to shrink until the skin becomes much finer, giving the patient a much more beautiful skin.
This decrease in skin pore size is presumably related to sebum excretion. When an acne lesion is formed, there is in the epithelial cell of the hair follicle an accumulation of lipids, leaving the epithelial cells bulky and the lumen of the gland narrowed. When there is a concomitant increase in sebum flow, the follicle has no choice but to hypertrophy to accommodate the changes, resulting in an enlarged skin pore and coarse skin. With the administration of pantothenic acid, the whole process is reversed. Lipid metabolism becomes normal and efficient. The epithelium is no longer laden with fat droplets, there is a decrease in sebum excretion, the hypertrophy process is not required. The skin pores revert to a much smaller size and the skin becomes smooth and fine. "

Edit 2: I urge everyone to have a look at this article:
It is very possible that the B5 fucked up our stomach and we are now dealing with malabsorption of vitamins. Check if you have any symptoms mentioned
http://jeffreydachmd.com/2013/03/hair-loss-from-low-stomach-acid-lady-in-grey-jeffrey-dach-md/
I have ordered the Betaine Hcl as I have many symptoms that were mentioned and will report back!
I also ordered the Alpha Lipoic Acid, as well as Aloe Vera gel and Coconut oil for topical application!
I'm at the point now where i'm getting a bit paranoid as I seem to be losing smaller hairs from my head. At the moment my hair needs a bit of a cut as its getting long but I keep finding hairs on my jumper and pillow that are half or a quarter of the size as the normal strands of hair. As I've said on here before, I've always had the 'V' shaped hair thing going on, but it seems to be receding quickly over these past three/four years (round about from the time I did the b5 experiment for a few weeks).
