I will do 500mg of b1 a day. I already took 400mg so far today.
http://www.endfatigue.com/tools-support/101_cure_anxiety.html this says 500mg 3 times a day is doable, interesting.
Should I go higher than 500mg/day or stay at 500mg for now?
ALSO: Should I stop eating certain foods and whatnot? (i.e I eat A LOT of fruits, mostly a lot of grapes, carrots, meat, chicken, etc..) I eat no grains/wheat, only potatoes for carbs.
BTW thank you tw12!
"I've been taking between 2-5g a day since Monday, and now it's Wednesday.
One thing I notice is that time goes by unnoticed. So if you're doing a boring job, thiamine is the thing to take. Maybe this is the motivation in play by lowering stress. It almost seems like time goes by quickly, but it's more like it goes by unnoticed.
I've also noticed that it can make me tired, like I'm probably handling stress too well, almost like I have low cortisol."

it definitely seems like 300-500mg of B1 can be bumped up! hopefully this is the CURE guys!!
Good luck guys, I'm not going to get my hopes up. I've come to terms with the hair loss now so don't want any false hope.
Of course if it does work I will also try it though!
Thanks being the guinea pigs
BTW I have my acne under control completely now by taking 10mg of accutane every 2-3 days. I'm sure low dose accutane is far safer and more effective than megadosing B5!
Carefull with Accutane that causes hairloss too.
I know that's possible but I'm pretty sure it doesn't for me, especially at such low doses.
Asia has it right, they know that lower doses can be just as effective with the massive bonus of no side effects.
That, and I can just walk into a pharmacy anywhere and buy the generic stuff very cheap
I'm hoping to get it down to just 10mg per week which really shouldn't do anything bad.
Sugar will cause further hair loss at your stage now as u are insulin resistant so beware...Try to cut back until u become sensitive again...
So for now.. all we should do is worry about taking vitamin B1? and this is to reduce high cortisol levels?
Drop some knowledge on us, sir.
Ive been taking 300mg for two days now.
So far I noticed improved mood(on the package it says it boosts serotonin) and more energy(on the package it also says it aids in burning carbohydrates into energy).
A doctor also told me I had seb derm. I get these pimples on my scalp and near my hairline. Anyone know what helps against them? They're very uncomfortable
Ellesarx did you start to shed slightly more when you first started the b1, im not sure if it's my imagination lol
I dont know man, dont think so.

Thats exactly what I have. Maybe b5 caused high cortisol which caused seb.dermatitis and hairloss?
Oh man I would be so happy if this b1 will cure this

Wait, you can buy generic accutane at pharmacies? Do you live in the UK?
A deficiency in vitamin b2 causes seb. dermatitis, u can start mini dosing after thiamine and see how u react to it...Thiamine is all u need for cortisol..
So you dont recommend start taking b2 right now when im taking b1?
What dose b2 do you recommend?
I read this site. Ive had sensitivy to light, white tongue, sore tongue ulcers etc, often sore throat and ofcourse dry and dull hair which is why im here on this forum.
Anyone else had this symptoms?
http://www.newsmax.com/FastFeatures/vitamin-b2-deficiency-riboflavin/2011/01/31/id/369843/
"The deficiency can cause abnormal sensitivity to light, various eye problems like itching, burning, and pale eyes. A vitamin B2 deficiency can also cause sore throat, mouth ulcers, pale tongue, cracks on the lips, dry and dull hair, wrinkles on the face, itchy skin, and sore and tasteless tongue. It can affect one's overall wellbeing."
"If the symptoms of vitamin B2 deficiency are ignored it can lead to seborrheic dermatitis, nervous impairment, anemia, and swollen tongue."
If u have more than 2 of these symptoms then u def have a deficiency in it and u should get 20mg daily...But this is only u not any other...Pantothenic acid doesnt cause a b2 deficeincy as another poster back on this thread got a b2 test and it was fine so this is only for u...

But B5 will cause a B1 deficiency? Or is the B1 purely to combat high cortisol?
I am getting scared as hell.
Yesterday I took pictures of my hair with a good camera, and I did not know it was this bad.
I am doing the B1 thing at 500mg day, I'm on day 2, however I'm strongly considering adding HIGH DOSE Omega 3 (because hair is brittle, dry, this _should_ help) and also going back on clomid (which for men, basically increases testosterone, but also increases SHBG, FSH, etc (which is good for hair). I know when I was on clomid back in the day I had great hair, However this was before B5. ugh.
I do admit I agree with itsoveryes, and I am on the fence about mega dosing on another vitamin since yes, it is what got us all here in the first place. But seems like 300 mg per day of B1 will hopefully be a safe level. From WebMD: "For adults with somewhat low levels of thiamine in their body (mild thiamine deficiency): the usual dose of thiamine is 5-30 mg daily in either a single dose or divided doses for one month. The typical dose for severe deficiency can be up to 300 mg per day."
Just don't want another crazy side effect from dosing on the vitamin.
Update for me, I have stopped Avodart because I ran out, it is very expensive, and I wasn't 100% convinced it was slowing down the shedding (Possibly helping some regrowth)
I am still using RU which I do see more than ever little hair popping up, but I am still shedding. Still doing rogain, nizoral shampoo, and clobetasol.
I started on vitamin B1 300 mg per day and will keep everyone updated.

The fact that you've tried all this stuff and it's not helping much, is very, very depressing.
Mike, I have seen no literature that b5 depletes b1 but it has the complete opposite effect on the body so i think there must be something...Dont get omega 3 as it also causes terrible hair loss, check the comments in the following link, http://baldingblog.com/2006/04/14/flax-seed-oil-and-hair-loss/
Have patience, u didnt lose ur hair overnight, stick to the b1 and see if it improves u, elesarax took 1 week to completely stop the shedding...Dont take anything else for the time being, if the b1 doesnt solve it u can go back and take what u want but be patient, be patient, be patient...
pjjordan, Its exremely safe, i have seen studies dones by researchers and scientists with doses up to 3000mg in people with metabolic dsyfunction so 300 is nothing, besides that is the dose they used to treat diabetes so its fairly common and i have not seen people react to it orally..Be patient guys and continue with ur dose...
No, I live in Vietnam right now. It's the same all over Asia, you can buy pretty much anything in the pharmacy which is great if you know what is wrong with you.
In the UK it is very difficult to get accutane unless you have very severe acne (which I did at one point). Once you finish a course it is hard to get on it again if you acne is then more mild. That is the reason I ended up using B5 instead.
Yesterday I took 500mg spaced out over the day, also worked a night shift. I just woke up 2 hours earlier than i set my alarmclock feeling fresh and not groggy like I used to do, havent done that since I started this job 3 months ago.
Still no shedding, im amazed at how hard I can pull my hair and not lose any hair.
tw12, how long is this b1 supplementation for? Do we have to feel for ourselves when we think we are cured? (If this is the cure)
Im glad it worked for u elessarx, i think ur cured but continue for a another 3 days on this dose and stop afterwards and monitor ur situation very closely...It will be impossible for me to determine it for u...Congrats my friend, ur journey with hair loss is now over, ull now live happily ever after 🙂

But my scalp is not good yet, still itching a little and flaking etc. You got any tips for that?
I will do 3 more days and stop the b1, and see if the shedding comes back or not. Thanks alot man!
