I haven't been "salt loading" because 12.5mg is a relatively small dose. In the old days, doctors would prescribe upwards of 500mgs to cure thyroid problems!

At the end of day 2 my energy levels are the same or slightly above average. Brain fog persists. Experiencing slightly metallic taste in mouth.

I'm getting nervous because my Accutane supply has been abruptly cut off.

I've decided to also supplement with Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Zinc to try and stave off the inevitable breakouts that are sure to come.... =[

You definitely want to salt load, even at that dose.

If I start to experience any negative side effects, I'll definitely consider it. But I'm going to hold off for now.

Day three and I've noticed something quite strange...

Colors are... brighter and more vivid. Noticeably so. Energy levels still hover around normal. Brain fog persists. The minor flare-up I had prior to taking Iodine has vanished. Metallic taste in mouth persists.

Note: I am still consuming distilled water and have been for more than a week now.

Today energy levels were noticeably higher. Good news! My Keritosis Pilaris is fading away! Those are the inflamed bumps people sometimes get on their upper arms. The red marks are still slightly visible, but the skin feels smooth and is healing at a rapid pace!

I've been off accutane for a few days now. The breakouts should start within the next week or so, judging by the last time I was off the medication for an extended period. Not really looking forward to that....

Your increased energy is not from the Iodine. It has been less than a week. Typically, Iodine therapy initially causes hypothyroid-like levels of increased TSH to begin with and some symptoms. If anything, the Iodine would make you feel worse to start. Being off the Accutane is more than likely the reason. Not trying to be a bad news Betty...

Well to be quite honest, I don't care what the energy increase is from! Cutting off Accutane, supplementing iodine, and drinking clean water are all undisputedly positive changes in my life, and I'm planning on reaping the benefits of all three for a long long time to come =]

Cheers!

I had energy boosts from iodine immediately after taking it.

Today I am feeling absolutely amazing. I've been on and off accutane for the past ten years, sometimes taking a month-long break. (To see if I still had acne) It's certainly never had this effect before. I can only attribute it to one of the other factors. I'm taking Iodine, distilled water, vitamin D, and magnesium. Take your pick, but considering Iodine is well known to increase energy, I'm going to assume it's responsible.

Distilled water is NOT the same thing as filtered water. Distilled water is the only water that is 100% pure and clean.

Distilled water can be purchased by the gallon at Wal Mart and most other supermarkets. At Wal Mart it's right next to the regular water but it comes with a purple cap.

You can also buy home distillers that will turn any kind of water into distilled water. It takes about 5 hours to distill a gallon of water.

Distilled water is traditionally used for putting into clothing irons because when it evaporates, it dosen't leave the nasty residue that tap water does.

I'm really loving this Iodine! I usually hate getting up early, but for the past two days I've woke up at the crack of dawn! I get up feeling awake and refreshed. My dreams have also returned! I haven't had dreams in years, but the past few nights have been full of vivid images.

I can say with certainty now, this is not a placebo effect. I haven't experienced any negative side effects as of yet, but I'll keep you posted.

how's your acne?

Two days before I started Iodine supplementation I had a small flare up on my forehead. That has faded away, and no new breakouts have surfaced. I haven't mentioned acne, because I need to wait until the residual effects of accutane wear off. The last time I took a break from accutane (about 9 months ago) it only took two weeks for my acne to return.

Aside from that, I've observed that the texture of my skin is a lot smoother. If you looked at my skin from an angle under the right lighting conditions, there would be many flesh colored "bumps". These have drastically subsided. In addition, as I stated in the previous post, my keratosis pilaris is almost completely gone.

Just a tiny update: I'm going to be switching from generic Magnesium to Magnesium Malate. This form of magnesium has the added benefit of flushing Mercury from the body.

Aside from that I am sleeping extremely well, I'm still having vivid dreams, and I am waking up at exactly the crack of dawn.

One point I'd like to reemphasize is that washing my face with distilled water has made a HUGE difference in the suppleness of my skin. I no longer need moisturizer, at all. Considering I'm still under the effects of accutane this revelation is amazing. I highly recommend everyone try washing their face in distilled water.

I'm a little bit confused about the salt flushing approach. Does drinking salt water flush bromide out (as iodine does) except you don't get the bad bromide toxic reactions that you would if you took iodine? Are you supposed to drink salt water everyday for a few weeks and then presumably enough time will have passed whereby the bromide will have left the body, so now iodine supplementation can be started because it won't push out bromide that would lead to acne? Or do you drink the salt water and then take an iodine supplement that same day? I'm confused about the ordering here...

Also, what is the best kind of iodine supplement? Are the kelp ones ok? What should you look for?

Iodine displaces bromide and leaves if floating around in your system. Salt loading helps the kidneys flush it out of your body.

Many people are against the kelp type supplements because the ocean is so polluted than many of them are toxic. I've always taken lugols iodine.

How long did it take for your initial breakout to emerge after starting iodine?

Probably less than a day, unfortunately. I had such crazy bad detox it's ridiculous. I was sick for months. I can't understand how my body was and always seems to be so toxic. All I can think is that years of autoimmune disease and organs that don't function properly left my body unable to deal with the toxins that naturally come in from the environment and my lifestyle at the time. I still have really bad detox symptoms whenever I do any sort of cleanse, so I'm apparently not out of the woods yet.

Oh okay. I haven't had any detox symptoms yet, knock on wood. Do you drink tea by any chance? Tea is extremely high in fluoride.

I do, but the one I use has been tested as fluoride free (because they use fluoride free water to grow them, I assume). I used to drink a ton of tea when I was younger though, Im sure that added a lot of fluoride to my system on top of growing up on fluoridated water. I also did a lot of drugs when I was younger, like, really, really bad drugs that were cut with God knows what. Actually, I don't know why I said I can't understand it, it would be surprising if I wasn't still detoxing after all I've done to my body. 4-5 years of being on the healing path still hasn't quite made up for 20+ years of ruining my body.

^^ Aren't we all just a work in progress! sideways.gif

Another little update: It's been two weeks since I stopped Accutane. Based off of past experience, my breakouts should start any day now. Thankfully, my complexion has thus far remained incredibly smooth. I've not moisturized in weeks and my skin is still super supple! Oil levels have decreased, inflammation around nose is gone, and my overall feeling of wellness is fantastic!

Another update! I've been getting a few red marks here and there. I wouldn't even call them pimples, just very small circles of moderate redness. These are coming from more bumps that have been lingering under the surface of my skin long before I started Iodine and the other supplements. Thus, I'm hoping all of these bumps are finally "clearing out" so to speak. One surfaced about two hours ago and it's already fading away, which makes me very optimistic indeed.

Aside from that, my complexion is fantastic! My skin should be SUPER oily at this point, but miraculously, it has a soft, matte, hydrated, flexible texture. I keep telling myself "this is how normal skin is supposed to feel" ...because I haven't experienced anything like it since childhood.

Energy levels are through the roof! Mood has been incredible despite some personal drama. I find myself eager to get out and do things, where normally I would be content to sit at the computer and just "veg out".

I've been taking Lugol's iodine for the last 2 weeks and have seen significant improvement. The first week I was getting breakouts from the iodine i think, I'm guessing it's the bromine or fluoride coming out?

This last week my face has pretty much cleared up completely. It's looking good!
