Im on day 18 of no water. my skin is so much better than it was more than 2 weeks ago, i only poured pure water on my face for like 5 seconds about 14 days ago every since then iver been doing a lot of research and realized that my skin might be irritated or uncomfortable to me but thats part of the healing process. ive been dealing with acne for about 7 years now and this is the only thing i havent tried, its kinda funny if you think about all the crap we've used and how stupid we were thinking it was gonna work just becuase of what other people have said about it. this was the first time that i actually did my homework, i wish i would have done this about 7 years ago and saved myself so much hassle and not to mention money.
for all those people out there that are doing this regimen faithfully, good on you.
to those people out there that are criticizing this regimen, just try it for yourself. if you dont want to or your just going to do it YOUR WAY then just leave and go to the forum that deals with the regimen you think works.
so many people are so negative about the caveman or no water regimen, but they will quickly buy whatever they see on tv or "heard" works, its sad.
I have oily skin so this regimen has been a battle but now its starting to get better and my skin is definitely healing, i strongly recommend only drink water, eat vegetables, meat, bread. stay away from junk food, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenized oils, sodas, candy. you have to come full force in this battle with acne, inside and out. leave your skin alone and let it do its thing, it will just give it the time it needs.
try not to stare in the mirror and relax, get a little sun on your face everyday if possible, drink lots of water, stop taking pills, try to be as natural as possible, if you eat healthy you dont need a multi vitamin or any other supplements for that matter.
good luck to everyone, message me if you have any questions.
Holy sh@!
People, please do not do this. This is absolutely ridiculous.
You may think, oh some of the people on this site have had good results... probably because they were using poor water to clean their skin with.
Water that is clean, filtered, and not full of toxic stuff (like tap water) is FINE for cleaning your skin with a mild soap. It doesn't hurt your skin in anyway.
Those who are desperate don't try weird stuff lke this! There are better ways... people read stuff like this and think, THAT MUST BE WHY my skin is bad. It is something NEW and I've never heard of it before.
Notice that none of the people on this site can't list experts or professionals that STUDY this stuff for years as a refference. Or listing any legitimate source or website or study, NOTHING! Worry about some of the stuff on the internet... just because 100 people in a chat room are saying that it has helped them, you don't know how bad their skin was or if they were using poor soaps or heavy chemicals on their skin, you don't know if they were using poor water, on and on... you don't even know how much they improved.
DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE, save your skin. If it sounds weird and like it shouldn't work, typically it won't.
I guess this is why bums have such clean and clear skin! lol, avoid!!!!!!
WANKER, try it before you judge it or get the hell off this topic. IDOIT
JASON shampoo products smell amazing and they are all natural! I forgot to check the ingredients list for you guys, but I know the first two ingredients are WATER and JOJOBA extract. No soaps, clensers, it's like washing your hair with herbal water basically... and cleans your hair well and leaves it smelling nice.. I love it! Most places sell it but check your health stores first if you cant find it at like walmart.
Thanks! I'll definitely check it out. I hope it is offered here in the PH though.
BTW, let the issue on that bastard rest. It won't do good for this thread to get any longer just because of his nonsense.
Update: So day 26 of water only (33 days since any topical) and no active pimples anywhere. Instead I have a very dry, dull, rough apperance of dead skin almost all over my face. Starting yesterday I am gunna avoid water on my face in the shower alltogether (previously I let it run down my face while in the shower cuz that's what I intend to do when I'm completely healed). But do to the fact that this dead skin continues to haunt me I'm gunna not let water touch my face for several days to a week to see if that helps. It's funny I started this to heal my acne problem(which to this point I have done), but yet I created another one in the dead skin buildup. I no longer fret about my diet and how it will effect my acne. I've eaten fried fish, tons of dessert, pizza, and so on here lately. If it's supposed to be bad for acne I've ate it cuz I wanted to find out once and for all if what I eat really matters (as far as acne goes). I also dropped my multivitamin and zinc supplements back around Thanksgiving and those to prolly did more harm than good over the years. Yup, all is well except this f'n dead skin. I'll continue to update my progress/lack of progress in the coming days.
hello everyone!
i'm new around these parts and spent the better part of last night/this morning looking at different regimens around the forums
this one just happened to stick out, and i wanted to ask a few questions
first, how does no water/caveman work with moderate - severe acne cases?
second, i was reading up about the beneficiaries of vitamins/minerals (ie b5, omega 3 fish oil, zinc, ect) and thinking about starting, would that interfere with the regimen?
lastly, i recently just got off doxycycline hyclate and started on solodyn
been breaking out from stopping doxy cold turkey, or so i think that's the case
i guess i should stop taking solodyn if i want to try this out?
thanks!

Ha, this is the dilemma of not having much information on the regimen: who's to say whether this dead skin of yours will naturally flake off?
If I were in your position, and this dead skin was unbearable, I'd lightly wash my face with a washcloth. Otherwise I guess you can continue onwards. If you've gone this long then it must not be that bad. Right?
Yesterday I washed my face gently with a washcloth and warm water before going out. There was a lot of dead skin I had to remove, especially around the nose area, and it probably took a good ten minutes because I was careful not to scrub too hard. I also took another step forward in this regimen and shaved without the use of shaving cream. I remember in the past trying and noticing how tough my facial hair was. Now, it practically guided across the stubble. It may seem crazy to shave without shaving cream, but when I was about to I remembered two things -- one was that my father shaves without shaving cream; and two, last week when I shaved with shaving cream I had a difficult time with left over residue and dryness afterwards.

I would continue to shave w/o using shaving cream man (use electric) cuz to me shaving cream is just another topical that prohibits your face from healing. As far as this dead skin goes...it's taking a toll on me mentally. I've become a lil anti-social lately just b/c I don't want people staring down my face u know? It's common to see peeps w/acne, but not with a excessive dead skin. But in all fairness, there hasn't been one person (from what i've seen or read) that has gotten through the flaking period by using water only, i was trying to do that. Waterwater & adam08 avoided water as much as they could and Karma did water only, but did sumthin w/olive oil to help speed up the process or sumthn. So even tho water only is harmless as far as acne goes for me, i think it dries my skin out right now plus when my face gets wet after the shower I can see the dead skin and it looks like a "pastey" substance or sumthn b4 it dries out in a little bit. I've been pretty consistent with it tho taking my shower around 8 or 9 pm for the past several weeks so my skin has had 24 hours in between each, but I guess 24 hours isnt enough. Like a said b4 I'm gunna not let water touch my face at all for awhile and see if that helps it. Keep the updates coming guys....and good luck to all.
So since I didn't wash my face all week, I thought I would treat the dead skin to a mild baking soda exfolliation in the shower this morning.
BAD IDEA
Has anyone tried this as it's been mentioned in the forums? It burned my face like acid.
My skin felt good today and there wasn't any problems or new breakouts to report. It got rid of the dead skin.. But applying it burnt so bad! I wouldn't recommend this again.
I was better off with apricot scrub.. UGH!

I know the dead skin sux, but u really should try and leave it on there. If not you'll be stuck in this vicious cycle for a long time.....you'll exfoliate and get all the dead skin off, and then ur skin will do what it's supposed to which is replace that skin, which will lead to more dead skin, then you exfoliate that, and well I think you get the point. That's just my 2 cents anyway.

I haven't been on this regimen for long enough to try the baking soda but before I was on this regimen I used baking soda a few times a week. I just put it in a bowl, mix it with water till its a paste and then just gently massage my face with it and then immediately rinse off.
After being on this regimen experiencing everything being said about what you'll experience in this regimen, I have came to a conclusion as to what happens.
Here's the cycle when we are still irritating our faces:
Healthy Skin -> First pimple -> Use Topicals or anything out there -> Damaged Skin -> Acne -> Use regimens(washing, cleansing, moisturizing) -> Dryness -> Not wash -> Oiliness -> Wash -> Continues using regimens w/ topicals in a never ending cycle of acne prob.
Now here's the cycle of our radical regimen:(we start with damaged skin)
Damaged Skin -> Not Wash -> Excessive Oiliness -> Oiliness subsides -> Oil on top of skin keeps dead skin cells as a from of protection -> Acid Mantle Restored -> Normal Oil Production -> Shed dead skin cells because of no oil on top of skin(oil is now beneath skin) -> Normal Exfoliation -> Healthy Skin -> If damaged again Back to square one
As I tell you guys, understand the biology of your skin then you'll understand why this regimen makes sense.
Day 14...
I've read that the first few weeks were bad but wow... This is probably the worst my skin has ever been. I've been getting anywhere from 3-10 new whiteheads a day around my chin and jawline but in addition to that I have about 20 small blotchy red pimples around my cheeks and forehead where I haven't had acne in a long time. My previous redmarks don't seem to be fading faster. It's safe to say that I look bad.
But here is the weird thing: My skin is not excessively oily or flaky. The biggest complaint I've heard from this regimen is the dead skin building up and looking bad but I don't seem to be having this problem at all. I'm just getting more acne. I'm going to give this a few more weeks though to see if I see any improvement.

Wanna check out my log and album to see if you got the same thing as mine? I have read that you still let water touch your skin but mine I don't, so that's probably our only difference.
Alright guys, thanks for the feedback!
;[
Not that it mattered anyway, with a bit of reading I've decided on what I'm going to do.
My first day (went through half of yesterday if you want to consider that!) of no water/wash, nor my two topicals, nor my prescription pills.
Even though it hasn't been very long, I feel good, like this is supposed to happen, but maybe that's just me being pumped up to try something new.
I'll try to keep my status updated.
Here's my unbiased and honest evaluations of what I've learned by doing this....
1) Topicals were without a doubt the cause of my acne.
2) Diet does not affect whether or not I get acne....I have carefully implemented various "no-no's" for acne into my diet over the past few months while carefully noting whether there's a reaction or not.
3) Doing nothing to my skin is what makes it heal the quickest....(no water, no soap, no exfoliation, nothing at all)
4) My face feels absolutely great now that I leave it alone, not too oily or dry, but like the rest of my body u know? (and that's great b/c I don't stress or think about it cuz I don't notice it)
5) It's not necessary to shower every single day (especially during winter where it's 10-30 degrees here on average) It just dries out ur skin further, plus the added flouride and stuff that's in there might be the cause for some minor acne who knows. Instead let your natural oils do the job. A shower everyother day is sufficient. Maybe when it gets summertime where I sweat a lot I'll revert my thinking back, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Be your own judge on that tho. lol
I just wanna add how great this is. I mean all these years I/we look for complicated regimens, topicals and supplements alike and the real answer is to just let your body heal on it's own. The human body is freakn amazing.
Yeah, you are right on how amazing our body is.
But one thing I have to point out though, other people breaks out from the food they eat, in example the dreaded dairy products. So it's always good to see for yourself. Though I myself haven't found a food that causes me to break out probably because I am choosy when it comes to what I eat.
Well back to report. I went out with my man saturday night to a party, so I HAD to wear makeup.
I exfoliated as mentioned so I didn't do anything else when I put my makeup on, but I did wash it off with a very gentle cleanser after we got home.
Back to the regimen with water only... So you know, girls this may be hard, but that was the only time I've worn makeup all week. It's difficult for us to do this type of regimen but I don't see a problem in what I'm doing or how I've altered this idea a bit to work for me specifically, it just might take me a bit longer then most to heal as we're mentioning.
Thoughts?

try not to deviate from the regimen, its so simple but to us we make it so hard because its hard for us to comprehend not washing our skin. i couldnt imagine how this would be for a girl, but i can assume it must be very difficult, see as how women are supposed to be beautiful all the time. its ok for men to be rugged every once in a while. my wife never washes her face, and her skin is beautiful, she takes bathes but never puts water on her face. its funny how hard i try to have nice skin by doing so many different things and her skin is perfect from doing nothing at all. but anyways, good luck to you. by the way im on day 22 of no water. so far so good, flaking is not too bad. skin not as red, face doesnt feel tight anymore or too dry, still a litltle oily tho.
Being a girl sure is hard. Btw, what is the condition of your skin before you cleansed? Are there any flaking, dryness, oiliness or what? From my experience and based on what I have read from others, exfoliating and cleansing will make the process much longer. See if this would apply to you too. Anyway, with this regimen everything seems fine for me. It's just the dead skin cells and flaking that's taking a toll in my life though this would last for only about a month untouched so I'm looking forward to the first month mark. Keep it up girl! Your the first one to dare try this one and report here every now and then. We are all rooting for you!
Day 6, dead skin over all my old pimples is coming off so i gave it a bit of push with my tweezers and removed it all. nice and smooth now, still got a couple of blind pimples whish are going down slowly, got a small white head and poped that today. Fair bit of flakyness and dead skin around jaw line and chin area but not to noticable, I have been wasing with cold water once a day after work, I work on a construction site so its pritty hot, sweaty and dirty work. Today i sort i would wash my face with cetaphil which is ph balanced washed it very softy and rinsed with water. Skin is feeling good gonna keep at it should start toi see more dead skin and flakness in the next week.
pritty much the same as everyone else. My acne was pritty mild when i started i usauly only get 7 or 8 pimples on my face at anyone time so this is working well, atm i have about 4 pimples which u can hardly see as there old ones from a week ago which are healing and that one tiny whitehead i popped which is almost gone away already (just a bit red).
what you guys think of that?

That's pretty much what everyone experience; flaking, dead skin cells, faster drying up of pimples. I also tried to push the dead skin on my left eyebrow but it caused irritation, too early I guess. It probably needs to be timed properly like when it is ripe enough for harvest.
day 23 for me, my skin is looking great and feeling good, the only hard part is having to shave. i use electric but it cuts too close and kinda irritates my skin, but i cant use a razor because it scrapes all the dead skin off which is not what i wanna do yet. if i didnt have to shave i wouldnt, it would make this so much easier. but anyways, face is not as red, red marks are fading more and more, no new pimples and all the old ones are gone. back and chest looks the best its ever have, hair is not so oily. i think my body is starting to balance itself out. also, i cut out all hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, DAIRY, which is a big no no for acne. it seems to be helping a lot. good luck to everyone else. oh by the way my regimen is no water at all, no matter how much i sweat or get dirty i just leave it alone and remember NO PICKING!!!
it is time to post.
i started this just over 3 months ago. intially began as no water then added some water in (filtered). after a month, i exfoliated the dead skin build up because of upcoming social events etc. importantly, no chemicals touched my face. i used the end of my toothbrush (you know the ones on electric toothbrushes with the small bristles?) i was inspired by the babybrush method and the toothbrush method. i suggest you look them up. again, no chemicals. importantly also, i discovered that if i exfoliated flakey skin it would simply return, but if i exfolfiated dead skin it would completely go away and my skin looked renewed the next day. i recommend doing this at night if you choose to do it. i learnt that exfoliation isnt necessarily bad but do it the right way!!! no scrubs, chemicals etc. prob dont exofliate early on either.
during this time, there have been a few instances where i thought that i was 100% clear. then a couple of days later i'd get a couple of little spots and some flakey skin. right now, im not 100% clear. i have a couple of spots. however, i do know that over time this will clear me. my skin just isnt ready yet. i've read a few experiences of others (see jan carlo for instance) and he said that he noticed the major difference in 4th month. go figure. i guess everyone is different. dont get me wrong: i have made big gains since i have started: better complexion, skin tone, smaller spots; less frequent etc but there is still (for me at least) some healing to be done. i have avoided posting here for ages becasue i wanted to become 100% clear for a while before i could say goodbye. well, i thought it was time to come clean. im not 100% healed yet but im on the way. im still unsure if i should use water/how often/what type etc but to be honest, at the moment i dont really care. i'll prob take snow"s advice and just chill out because i know this will heal me eventually becasue i have already noticed massive changes.
anyway, i wish you all the best. i'll report back in 2 months or so. if i dont, consider me clear. i need to get off this site..
Well I'm not getting the flakyness like everyone else is mentioning. But I think it might be due to the difference in climate.
I went on my second tanning session yesterday, she put me in for 12 mins. (first time was 8) And my skin barely felt anything. The tanning however, has cleared up the little bit of acne I had on my shoulders. Woohoo! Its healed that... So yea, we'll see.
I HAVE to wear makeup on the weekends here or there or every once in a while. I can manage to go bare-faced around my man or around work.. but during huge weekend events or parties, I really can't. I've always had gorgeous clear skin my whole life, and I've lived in this town my whole life.. its bad enough my ex said my face looked like I needed a 'belt sander"... and thought that I had "really let myself go"
It hurts when people don't realize acne isn't just because you don't wash your darn face.
Funny isnt it, that i'm curing my acne now by doing just that?!?!
Well the work week started again, but I'm sick with a horrible cold. Does anyone report that when you are sick acne gets worse or better? My face didn't improve at all.. but didn't really get worse...
I'll be back to report at the end of the work week!
Kate
I am sorry if this has been asked before but i have a couple of questions about this.
I have kind of tried to do a regimen like this where i just leave my skin alone and let it heal naturally. In the evening i do nothing to my face, but in the mornings there is a problem when i wash my hair in the shower and so i just cant avoid getting my face wet. After the shower when i dry off, i moisturise. I don't know if using moisturiser is a bad thing and but i seem to have dry skin and i have a crappy amount of dead skin to deal with all the time.
So i ask what is the best way to shower and wash your hair while keeping this regimen going.
And how do you get rid of all the lousy flakes without using any kind of topical treatments?
Okay, I got up to page 6 and stopped reading. I've been up all night and am just too tired.
This regimen makes a lot of sense to me. It seems like a good idea. But I'm worried about trying it for various reasons:
1) I have done some things similar to it before. I stopped washing my face (mostly out of laziness) and it never worked out well for me. But, I was going about it differently than this regimen does.
2) I am using a system right now that seems to be really helpful for me and doesn't seem to damage my skin. (Collective Wellbeing's acne kit.) Sometimes, when my face starts getting a lot clearer, I go a day or two without washing my face. I think I would be clearer now if I didn't do that. Every time I do, my skin seems to get worse and I start washing again. Lately I've only been washing once a day, just kind of whenever it feels like it needs it.
3) I think my acne's hormonal. It's also genetic. My mother has it bad on her face (very bad in her teens.) It's not so bad now, but still there. My dad has worse body acne, but it's on his face too. And guess what? I get both body acne and facial acne! Yay... Anyway, I'm in my teens now. (started getting acne when I was about 10) It seems like this works for adult acne, but will it work at all for me?
My skin is on it's way to being clear and it feels a lot healthier with the products I'm using. I'm really afraid to try this because I don't want to mess up my face again by getting tons of breakouts (which I usually get if I don't wash my face) but this makes so much sense. I've seen my face heal itself before and I think this is so logical, natural and right. But I'm so afraid of it not working for me and just messing my face up more. Should I try it anyway? My collective wellbeing stuff has pretty much run out, so if I try it I should do it now before I go buy some more.
