I am so happy that lots of people are having the same epiphany as me when I took a research on this regimen, especially on how and why it works! Being inspired and motivated by this regimen, I even tried to write a regimen walk through for this but is not yet complete because it needs to be simplified.
@I am Snow
though we really do not know each other, but I am glad that our effort to put our mates here out of the vicious acne business cycle is paying off little by little.
You are absolutely right on everything you said, here. I couldn't have said them better. It's like we are thinking on the same line, but you were the one who list them up. Great job!
I have an oily face too. Check out my log(it's in my sig) and you'll see how I dealt oiliness while on this regimen.
I even tried to write a regimen walk through for this but is not yet complete because it needs to be simplified.
I can very easily do the simplifying for you. Actually, it can be done in a single sentence!
"Do and act as if you have no acne and have never had it."
That encompasses everything that this type of regimen has to offer I believe. I am a naturally healthy person, however, so I do not eat many sugary foods. Some people may do that naturally so I can not really help them with just one sentence.
This regimen is really so simple, but I keep seeing people on here with all sorts of questions as if there is some sort of trick to this.
I will add in though, that I recognize some people actually have a skin disease and doing nothing is NOT what they need. Most of the people here seem to be teen acne sufferers though, and this is what is needed
Also take what Kate_The_Valkyrie stated. You can not simply try this regimen for two weeks and deem that it does not work for you. You must stick with it. Anytime you make a major change to the body, it will have repercussions. If you make a change to acne-prone skin, yes you may actually break out more! Especially when your skin has been relying on chemicals instead of itself...You must let your skin's acid mantle come back and let your skin do the repairing.
Snow and Wapak.. Seems like we've all got it down.
So I took a shower last night, and was washing my hair (it's pretty long, down to the middle of my back, so I have to wash it every other day atleast). I use all natural JASON brand shampoo. It's Natural jojoba shampoo-which I didn't even realize the benefits of until I found acne.org. So I let a little get on my face today, otherwise I haven't cared in 4 days.
I haven't worn any of my face paint (makeup)... which I spend about 60$ every 6 months or so on from MAC.. and I can honestly say that this is what my new "Not caring" regimen is pretty much:
Since finding acne.org a few days ago:
Still a vegetarian! (since acne.org I didn't realize how much dairy possibly affects my acne, so I've just decided to cut back on that) I am working on cutting back the soda, NOT JUST for my acne, but health overall. I use a fresh breath spray I get from my local health store and one of the main ingredients are zinc.. so that's a good thing too!
I still take my all-natural, fresh fruit prenatal Vitamins every morning.. I don't care if they have ingredients bad for your acne or not.. I love the way my hair and nails do with these vitamins.
I've been smoke free for two weeks//Also working on hitting the gym I pay for monthly more often!
I don't use any acne wash. I've stopped using Witch Hazel, my neutrogena daily light lotion, apricot scrub, avon micro-dermabrasion at home kit, and my makeup bag is sadly collecting dust on my bathroom counter. I haven't thrown any of this away, I've kept it in my shower, on my counter, for a constant reminder.. it's helping.
I have to splash my face with cold water every time I wake, simply because it wakes me up!
So I'm not following the caveman regiman, or water only really.. but I simply am just acting the way I did in Jr. High when my face was the least of my worries! My hygeine is the same, I don't want to STINK!
So snow, especially, thanks for opening my eyes.
Guess what guys, I've only had one new zit, and a very small red one on my cheek, all week!
My skin does feel a little icky from the dead skin, but I started getting a red patch of a rash on my right upper lip... It's subsiding, and my overall skin tone is improving!
I'm using a mile apricot scrub maybe this weekend, but I'm not going to scrub the hell out of my skin like I normally do.
I think it's really best to remember to relax, stop fretting, as hard as it is!
Yes you can wash your face, but stop overdoing it! Less it more! Let your skin BREATHE!
It is after all, the largest organ of your body!!!! I'm pretty sure it can handle itself, like it has since the dawn of man!
Wow 3-4 times? What do you use?? Do you have long or short hair?
Being I'm a girl with considerably long hair, I can't do that.
I use too many styling products every now and then, I need a good shampoo.
But as I said, I use JASON shampoo.
The main ingredients are water, and natural herbs. No sodium Laureth sulfates, etc etc.
So it's not like any type of typical shampoo you can immagine. Tonight I'll get the ingredients list when I go home to read to you guys...
So i decided yesterday I was going to try this with my own little twist.
For the first 2 weeks I'm not going to wash my face at all. Then I'm going to start exfoliate with baking soda and that's it. I just don't think baking soda will irritate my skin and will also remove lots of dead skin. Whats your guys thoughts? Should I just not let water or baking soda touch my skin at all?
As well as this regimen seems to be working, I'm not really a big fan of the "No water" at all...
I haven't washed my face for a little over 4 days or so, but I do let water touch it in the shower, splash my face with water in the morning, and wash my hair as normally....
Baking soda sounds good. If you do want to use any type of products, the closer to natural ingredients the better... But I say even if you DO have hard, chlorinated water, I still suggest using water...
You want to atleast help wash off the dust/dirt/pollution you accumulate during the day...
what im doing is day one no face washing with water or anything, day 2 dont wash in the morning, but night time shower wash with water lighty on my face and dry softy with towel, i think im healing faster and its only been 2 days.
Woohoo! Go Ryan!
I'm on about day 4, I did as I mentioned above smooth a little bit of my natural jojoba shampoo over my face but I didnt massage it in or scrub or anything, but that's because after 3 days I couldn't take it.
Stil haven't used anything else at all.
I'm starting to notice the dead skin feel like they have mentioned in this forum.. the flakiness, etc.
I'm debating apricot scrub very gently this weekend or avons home micro-dermabrasion
I think using it just once won't hurt for me. I live in arizona so we have very dry hot climate.
I think I need it!
dont do it, stick with the water only once every 2 or 3 days, scrubing lightly or anything may and probly will mess up the acid mantle. just leave it for atleast a week and half. its hard i no i had a little pick today and i put bp spot gel on a blind pimple on my jaw line..
Guys! Finally, my simplified version of this regimen+enhanced+refined is out. It states the reason why we should do this and do that so go on and read it for your sake!
I'll try out what you use to shampoo your hair. I have a question though, does it smell bad or anything? or it smells good?
I'm having a hard time shampooing my hair while on this regimen. Clear Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Head and Shoulder Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is not working on my dandruff. but when I didn't wash my hair for like 2-3 weeks, it looks pretty healthy with the natural oil in it and my dandruff has drastically reduce. but the flaking of my face goes to my hair making it look like dandruff so I have to wash it now on my day 7 of this regimen. And not washing my hair for two weeks or so gives it a bad smell. So gotta have a way to shampoo once a week at least.
Im on day 18 of no water. my skin is so much better than it was more than 2 weeks ago, i only poured pure water on my face for like 5 seconds about 14 days ago every since then iver been doing a lot of research and realized that my skin might be irritated or uncomfortable to me but thats part of the healing process. ive been dealing with acne for about 7 years now and this is the only thing i havent tried, its kinda funny if you think about all the crap we've used and how stupid we were thinking it was gonna work just becuase of what other people have said about it. this was the first time that i actually did my homework, i wish i would have done this about 7 years ago and saved myself so much hassle and not to mention money.
for all those people out there that are doing this regimen faithfully, good on you.
to those people out there that are criticizing this regimen, just try it for yourself. if you dont want to or your just going to do it YOUR WAY then just leave and go to the forum that deals with the regimen you think works.
so many people are so negative about the caveman or no water regimen, but they will quickly buy whatever they see on tv or "heard" works, its sad.
I have oily skin so this regimen has been a battle but now its starting to get better and my skin is definitely healing, i strongly recommend only drink water, eat vegetables, meat, bread. stay away from junk food, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenized oils, sodas, candy. you have to come full force in this battle with acne, inside and out. leave your skin alone and let it do its thing, it will just give it the time it needs.
try not to stare in the mirror and relax, get a little sun on your face everyday if possible, drink lots of water, stop taking pills, try to be as natural as possible, if you eat healthy you dont need a multi vitamin or any other supplements for that matter.
good luck to everyone, message me if you have any questions.
I just read all 22 pages (tired now..) and, from what I gather, this won't work for people that have severe acne?
I have moderate acne (used to be severe) and it started when I was 13. It's genetics too since my dad had acne (I dunno how severe) and my sister, who grew out of it, had moderately severe acne for about 8 to 9 years. So, I'm thinking this regimen only works for people who had mild acne then went insane on using topical treatments, right? I just wanna make sure because I'm debating as to should I use this regimen or use the other regimen with AHA lotion. Also, I just don't wanna do an experiment of this because I'm moving to a new city in a month, so I just wanna stick with one regimen that will give me some improvement.
To be honest though, I don't think it will work for people like me who had severe acne most of the time and got it through genes. Plus, I read that this will take more than a month maybe to work completely, so I'll probably go with AHA lotion but I'll give this a go sometime soon.

What did you gather that made you come to the conclusion that this will not work for people with severe acne? no one just starts having severe acne all of the sudden one day, it all starts out mild, but the severity depends on genetics like you had mentioned and the different chemicals you put on your skin and your diet and lifestyle.
so to say that it wont work for people with severe acne is a false statement.
i believe that all skin types benefit from this type of regimen, of just leaving the skin alone and letting it heal itself.
but please let us know where you got your information that made you decide that it wont work for people with severe acne.
thank you.
o.k. so after the skin has healed is it ok to allow water to touch ur face without thinking about it? Like 1x a day during your shower? I can't imagine doing this for the rest of my life (avoiding water like its going to melt me or sumthn). I totally support the notion of letting ur skin heal, but when does the time come when u don't fret about taking a swim, taking a shower w/o water touching ur face/ going to a waterpark, etc. This might seem silly but for those who have done this and overcome the flaking, the dead skin, and the acne please chime in!

Several of the questions you've raised have yet to be answered because there doesn't seem to be anyone who has gone through with this regimen long enough to answer. And if they have, they no longer post here.
That's what so interesting about everyone doing no water (or a variation of it) simultaneously. Hopefully over time we'll have some sort of idea what works and what doesn't.
I can't imagine avoiding water after the skin is healed. I suppose it all goes to the idea of determining when your skin is "healed." It may take months to undue the years of abuse cleansers and topicals have inflicted upon your skin. Before any of us had acne we were letting water hit our faces without issue. This is the point we should all be aspiring to reach
Today marks three weeks on my variation of no-water/water regimen. I know I've repeated it several times, so if anyone is tired of it I apologize; but I believe it's beneficial for people (like myself) who have to wash their faces.
- I only wash my face with water (and lightly scrub with a washcloth) when I'm going out. If I'm not, I don't wash my face at all. Even when I return home from school/work/etc. I don't wash my face.
What I've noticed since avoiding cleansers is on the occasions I do wash with water (incidentally, the last time was four days ago), it takes longer for oiliness to return. For years on end, whenever I'd wash with a cleanser you could guarantee the vengeful return of oiliness in four or five hours. Now, it takes much longer.
Yes; I may be prolonging my healing, but it still a better option than what I had been doing prior to this. If it takes a month longer for significant results to be seen I'll accept that.

Holy sh@!
People, please do not do this. This is absolutely ridiculous.
You may think, oh some of the people on this site have had good results... probably because they were using poor water to clean their skin with.
Water that is clean, filtered, and not full of toxic stuff (like tap water) is FINE for cleaning your skin with a mild soap. It doesn't hurt your skin in anyway.
Those who are desperate don't try weird stuff lke this! There are better ways... people read stuff like this and think, THAT MUST BE WHY my skin is bad. It is something NEW and I've never heard of it before.
Notice that none of the people on this site can't list experts or professionals that STUDY this stuff for years as a refference. Or listing any legitimate source or website or study, NOTHING! Worry about some of the stuff on the internet... just because 100 people in a chat room are saying that it has helped them, you don't know how bad their skin was or if they were using poor soaps or heavy chemicals on their skin, you don't know if they were using poor water, on and on... you don't even know how much they improved.
DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE, save your skin. If it sounds weird and like it shouldn't work, typically it won't.
I guess this is why bums have such clean and clear skin! lol, avoid!!!!!!

JASON shampoo products smell amazing and they are all natural! I forgot to check the ingredients list for you guys, but I know the first two ingredients are WATER and JOJOBA extract. No soaps, clensers, it's like washing your hair with herbal water basically... and cleans your hair well and leaves it smelling nice.. I love it! Most places sell it but check your health stores first if you cant find it at like walmart.

Don't be rediculous. How did people first find out that BP worked on zits? They TRIED IT ONE DAY.
Basically this is an experiment.. YES. But hey.. if you have tried just about everything for years, what the HECK is 1-3 months gonna do if you try this regimen?
I've been saying, everyone is different. I haven't used any chemical face wash in 5 days.
I haven't used microdermabrasion or apricot scrub.
I wash my hair and body in the shower daily like normal.
I use my sauna at my gym for the steam.
The basic principle of this whole regimen, is honestly, how good can it be for your skin to cover it in products, not let it breathe? The human body is an amazing thing, why not let it try and heal itself for once?
I've let soap touch my face. I just haven't scrubbed or massaged or treated it trying to deal with this acne and I've let it go and tried to relax and just live my life.
I did go get a tanning package for one month today. I'm only going to sit in a tanning bed like maybe 8 minutes every other day, just to get some sun since one of my problems are that I sit in an office all day and work nights too, so I never see the light of day and I have a naturally dark, olive complexion. I'm so pale it's scary...
But basically, EVERYONE is DIFFERENT.
I'm not advocation AT ALL that you use NO WATER AT ALL. Water isn't going to burn you.
Swim, Sweat, Play, WORK. Girls-stay away from MAKEUP if you try something like this for you.
And I'm encouraging detoxing your body and eating healthy to HELP your body FIGHT this acne itself....
Lets not be dense kids and those trying this; keep up the good work I want to see how everyone else is doing!

hey bobby, so what kind of water is okay to use? anything except tap right? is that what you are saying is the problem?
Guys, don't listen to Bobby Mcgee.. he is obviously an Acne Sufferer for a long time and is skeptic to the bones. And he is scared to try new things out when BP is also out of trial. His words are bulls#it!
Professionals try to avoid this type of approach to solve acne because they'll loose business and loose work and profit! Think about it. Everyone having clear skin? Who would buy their products and services? Don't bite into the viscous acne business cycle.

Believe what you want guys... it's worth a shot. That's all I'm saying. If it doesn't work.. you're right back where you started from.
