I have been taking the reduced glutathione for 9 days. It causes break out. It was never so bad before! What is wrong with it? I take 500mg twice a day.
Any other things that might caused it?
Maybe its an initial breakout.
Take it with Vitamin C, 1:2 Ratio.
500mg Glutathione + 1000mg Vitamin C.
Or you can just stop taking it.
Everyone's body is different.
Yes, you are right. I think it was an initial breakout. I stop eat soy for 2 weeks. My skin is improved. At least no big pimple comes out.
My friend works for a spa. She invited me to do the treatment in the spa. I think she will pop the pimples for me. She said it is the only solution. Is it good? Somebody told me that never touch them.
I thought glutathione didn't get utilized almost at all when taken orally? Or am I getting it confused with another amino acid?
You are correct. Glutathione is not well absorbed across the GI tract. "In a study of acute oral administration of a very large dose (3 grams) of oral glutathione, it was found that it is not possible to increase circulating glutathione in a clinically relevant way" (Wikipedia).
The Good News:
The precursor to glutathione is cysteine. Therfore, ingestion of cysteine can increase levels of glutathione in the body. It is best to obtain cysteine in your diet. High protein foods are excellent sources of cysteine: red peppers, garlic, onions, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, oats, granola, wheat germ, eggs, milk, whey protein, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, pork, chicken, turkey, and luncheon meat.
