Pros:

Getting rid of my wrinkles, and clearing up

Cons:

A lot of dryness and peeling around the mouth and chin area

The trentinion was working really well for about the first month but this week has been brutal! I'm pretty sure my skin will look a lot obetter again within a day or two (I'M HOPING) I stopped using my salycilic face wash because I think it's just irritating with all of the peeling that's going on and I just bought Cetaphil daily moisturizer and face wash. Hopefully I see fantastic results with my face in the next couple of weeks.

Pros:

Cleared up acne and scars, prevented breakouts (I have really greasy skin that pimples just love, good thing i managed to decrease it to mild before I used this product), I can actually rub my cheeks and barely feel any bumps, whereas before I could.

Cons:

None. However, I did get a slight dryness in it. I dont really understand why people could have cons about this product, however I am only on my second week.
Anyways, in order to get something perfect, you have to make some sacrifices.

Great product.

Pros:

Makes skin even toned and works consistent

Cons:

Inital period of breakout, peeling and overdryness

I've used this for 2 weeks and I can see pretty good improvements. It made me breakout in the first week with many small inflamed zits, but starting the 2nd week my face is starting to clear up. Since the second week, I've havn't had any new pimples yet. My derm. told me to apply this only at night and thats what I did. After I use it at night, I mix some jojoba oil w/ my moisterizer and it really fights against the flakyness and overdrying effects of tretinoin. If this product keeps on working, then I should get clear pretty soon!

Pros:

Lines have smoothed out, pores shrinking

Cons:

Skin is soo sensitive. Still peeling after 6 weeks. Looks bad

I'm 36 and I was prescribed this cream for my blackheads, pores and fine lines. Been on it for 6 weeks and I can see results already, I swear, but it is the dryness and peeling that is driving me nuts. I'm using it 4-5 nights a week. I'm not sure what I'll do if the dryness does not subside in a few weeks

Pros:

clears face over time
good spot treatment
very effective against the volcano acne that never surface and are completely under the skin.

Cons:

PEELING EVERY NIGHT/MORNING
still oily skin.
occasional break outs. about 3-4 pimples at a time every 2 months.

best thing that worked for me. differin did nothing for me. over the long-term, this medicine has reduced my scars to almost non-existent. peeling is an issue. every night before i wash my face and stuff, the areas around my mouth peel and when i wake up after applying at night, my face is a peeling mess. i use moisturizer every morning so that my skin is moisturized for the day/most of the night. if i plan a long night out/sleeping out anywhere, i take my moisturizer with me. absolute bottom line: BE PATIENT.

Pros:

Works! Made all my pimples go away.

Cons:

The first 4 months were horrible, had light to moderate acne, but this turned it into severe with huge cystic pimples that I had never had before. My skin got a lot worse during this initial period and had a lot of breakouts with huge pimples.

The initial period was horrible and really unpleasant, I didn't want to leave the house. However, I am soooooo happy I stuck through it. My skin is now pimple free!! I get upset if I even have one pimple. This product has made a huge difference!

Pros:

worked to a point....after 3 months

Cons:

terrible initial breakout after 3 weeks, another bad breakout after one month, another bad breakout at 6 weeks. takes FOREVER to work.

in the end it woulda made more sense to jus start on accutane and have 3 months down the drain but this did move my acne from moderately severe to mild moderate...after 3 months

Pros:

it reall smoothed my skin, it usually looks like snadpaper because of my comedonal acne...but it really improved.ALOT,evens skin tone, less wrinkles..reduces breakouts..

Cons:

redness, dryness, peeling, burning..

The key to get good results from this product is to only use it at night...and for the 1st week put it on sparingly..then after the 1st week (I) put it on generously on the effective areas, nose forhead...but try not to put any on the parts that never breakout and are drying out..good luck

Pros:

There are no pros! Not for me anyways.... :(

Cons:

Made my occasional breakouts turn into horrible painful acne and it's expensive.

I started using this to help with the few small blemishes I would get every now and then. Also for fine lines and wrinkles. Im only 26 but I've heard the younger you start the better so I was all for it. I didn't actually start breaking out until like the third week. It was horrible. I mean I didn't want to leave the house but like so many others I stuck with it because thats what the derm said. By the way I am an Esthetician and deal with skin on a daily basis. I developed the worst acne around my chin and jawline. Two places that I never even broke out at before. Anyways I kept up with it for months and my skin never got any better. I agree with the people that say DON'T use it. I just couldn't stand it anymore. My skin has gotten much better since I quit using it and I will never use it again.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
