Absolutely dreadful
I can hands down say this is perhaps the worst 'scar' treatment I have ever used, and trust me I have tried many a thing. I did absolutely nothing, in fact made it worse. I had to pay extra to the post office to receive this as it came from Canada which was an even bigger kick in the teeth. The little bottle of scar solution looks like the stuff they apply to people in surgery, its absurd, truly dreadful product. I honestly think that a topical solution such as this will make absolutely no difference to your skin at all. Its just crap to say the least I would advise staying away and thoroughly doing your research on your skin type and what kind of scarring you have.

Very good for scars
Helps a lot with my scars. I am a ''popper'' so it leaves scars sometimes. This has helped greatly. I don't like the smell of it but it's all good if it works. I keep it in the fridge. I got their newsletter today and they are giving you 2x more of this product for the same price so I'm happy as I'm running out.

Pros:

Nothing good to say.

Cons:

Made acne worse.
Increased redness.
Make poors look bigger.
Didn't help the scars.
Bigger breakouts that take longer to heal than if I wasnt using the product.
Made skin dry and peel.

This product didn't work for me it was a waste of money and time.

Pros:

-Cheap
-Protects skin rather than damages it

Cons:

-Doesn't do much

Surprised to even find this here. Hasn't affected my scars in any way, though I have been using this for an entirely different purpose. Don't bother with this.

Pros:

-Turning my discoloured, dead skin mark/scar into a pinkish red and I have been using it sparingly just under 2 weeks.
-Smells nice and its a thick gel which makes a change from cream and liquids.

Cons:

-I don't want to admit to friends and family about using slime from snails.
-Difficult to tell if the gel has absorbed into the skin or if its creating just a sticky layer as sometimes I can peel it off like glue.

I have been rubbing this on a particular mark/scar on the cheek of my face before I go to bed and its been almost two weeks. The mark/scar was caused by me picking at it over and over again which has left me with hard skin or a grey/brownish/purple colour healed over it. Since using the gel on this area, the scar/mark has stayed a pinkish red at the moment which to me is a good thing because it shows that it wants to regenerate new skin cells rather than left as an uneven skin tone forever because the skin feels it no longer needs to be repaired. It says on the product that it needs to be used 3 times a day, but I use it before I go to bed as I don't like to mix products with the snail gel together i.e make-up and moisturiser. The reason I've gave this a 3 rating because I'm not sure if it can work on my spots or bumps as it really made no difference unless I would need to be patient about it. I suppose I expected this to work instantly on spots so instead I use calamine lotion for this purpose alone and this snail gel on my scarring.

Product used: Emu Oil

Hasn't really done anything to my stubborn back acne red marks.

Pros:

None for me

Cons:

Caused huge cystic breakouts, ...and ultimately more scars.

Tried it twice. Both times it caused large painful cysts to form after 3 or 4 days of use. I wouldn't reccomend this product for severe acne at all.

Pros:

heals spots quickly
fades marks
easy to use

Cons:

Smells iffy
caused blackheads
can make face oily overnight

I use this every night b4 bed it seems to fade my current marks and scabs...but I've found more blackheads and my face is super oily in the area I've applied it to. I still use it in hopes of a more even skin tone.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
