Didn't work for me.
I was really really excited to try this. I even bought 5 different chemical peels "sample size" to try on my face. In case if one won't work at least the others will do !!. of course, u have to be very careful with this and start with low percentage if u want to try it on yourself at home. actually the peels came with clear and easy instructions to follow. I bought the mandelic acid 40% and 4 others. I tried the mandelic for almost 1 month and half. and i was getting breakouts everywhere. i was telling myself this is the purging effect and i was expecting it and ready emotionally and physically for it. then i started getting acne on my forehead, my temples and near to my mouth. i rarely get acne on those areas. so i was like what is happening! . i was really hopping that this could work it's magic and tadaaa clear skin.. but no !. so i just stopped using it.. i tried two other different peels and the exact same thing happened. it might be just my face doesn't react nicly to chemical peels or the brand. I don't know. However, once I stopped using it my face returned to its normal state with the same amount of acne i was previously getting. so if u want to try this, i would say go for it. it might work for u. but keep an eye on your face. if it gets worse and worse even after 6 to 8 weeks just discontinue using it. plez note; that the chemical peels did remove some old dead skin layers. P.s: skin type: oily / very sensitive skin type with some rosacea bumps appearing after using somthing that is not suitable for me..

Pros:

none

Cons:

It's expensive and it didn't help me at all (after 3 sessions!)

I went to three sessions. My skin peeled, but looked exactly the same. It was about $150.00 each session. A huge waste of money! :(

Cons:

PAINFUL
made skin feel numb and dewy
made acne worse
didnt remove scars
made my skin unbareably dry
VERY FLAKEY

Since I HATE my acne i got an esthatician, and she reccommended i should get a chemical peel for my acne and scars. i was super excited, and it wasn't cheap for my mom, so i thought it HAD to work. I've never been more dissapointed or ripped off. this was a total scam. it didnt do ANYTHING for me, except give me unbareably dry skin (which was completley embarresting to goto school like that..) i literally cried the day after the peel. i guess i just had my hopes up too high... i'm just a teenager!

Pros:

one of the worst treatment for acne scars

Cons:

dont waste ur money doing dis,it wont help @ all

skin wil look very nice for 3-4 days aftr treatment, but after sumdays it wil becum d same lyk before.its beter 2use any cream rather than doing such treatments, even laser treatment isnt effective.d best treatment is to use any ayurvedic cream,Dr's jst know hw 2 mint money, they dnt care whther ur skin is sensitive, hard, soft, etc, they wil jst run their machines n treatment on ur face lyk a butcher does 2 slaughter goats.trust me,its beter using any cream for scars rather than takin apointments n visiting Dr's n wasting money

Pros:

None.

Cons:

Downtime, cost, and break outs.

I got a chemical peel done to my face and it burned like hell! Not to mention that I looked like a burned victim for 3 days afterward. After my leather feeling red skin peeled off I was fine for about 2 more days and then BAM, I started to break out and as each day came I got more acne. I was getting 1-2 zits a week at the time before this treatment, now I have 2 cystic knotts under my skin and other small ones. It's been a week and I'm waiting for my skin to clear. Unless you like wasting money and enjoy painful procedures that just make you worse, I wouldn't recommend chemical peel. Oh and look up hyper pigmentation cause that has happened to some people from doing this.

EVERYTHING

My skin is horrible. i had a glycolic peel and my face broke out like never before. My cheeks, forehead, and chin now have acne and i have horrible post hyperpigmentation now. The new acne now takes weeks to go away, when it used to only take a couple of days. i just cry and cry now because it was the biggest mistake I made. I had perfect skin last yr and now this year, im just a mess. The peel made it 10x worse.

Pros:

Had no pros.

Cons:

Made my skin worst with horrible break outs

I had some acne scars I wanted to get rid off, so I tried the peel. Instead of getting rid of the scars it made me break out severely!! I am now dealing with acne again. I had two TCA peels. The first one I had minor break out. The dermatologist said it was normal and that they would go away. So I did a second one hoping that she was right. After the second one my break outs went out of control. My face is red and full of acne now. I am now having to deal with another dermatologist that is trying to help me clear up. I am desperate to get rid of this acne. I am 26 but look like a teenager going through puberty. I would not recommend this procedure to anyone. It worsen me and has made my life horrible.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
