Pros:

It defiantly makes my skin much less oily then before. I can notice a difference in my skin tone and I have less break outs than before. I have gotten compliments on my skin since I began using it.

Cons:

It does hurt like hell especially around the eyes and nose. If I even touch the area around my eyes the pain is crazy and if you cry forget about it the crying makes it burn like hell. It does make your skin very dry and flaky at first.

If you switch over to a very mild face wash (I use the Acne.org one) and a great moisturizer (also Acne.org w/ Clinique super surge for the really dry areas) you should be fine if you can tolerate the burn you will get at times. I have only used it for a few weeks now but it seems to be doing better than anything else I've tried and that is a lot.

Pros:

It was Free as I live in the UK and it is paid for by our health service, clears up acne

Cons:

burning and soreness can occur

Good Product - and clear up the acne well (but you have to be patient)

Pros:

I see a difference and it has only been 3 weeks.

Cons:

It makes my face ridiculously sensitive :(. It hurts to apply any type of lotion to my face after I wash it & it sometimes hurts when I touch or scratch an itch on my face.

I can see that its working & I feel like it helps me avoid touching my face which could also cause breakouts. I just hate that it burns and makes my face hurt.

Pros:

My derm perscibed this when i had these buumps all over my cheeks. i started using it and in about 2 MONTHs it went totally away.

Cons:

A good product for mild acne but only on certain places. Takes a while but in the end works wonders!

Pros:

>> Cleared up my Acne completely.
>> New pimples (I have had 1 in the last 2 months) are hardly visible, flesh coloured, painless and disappear in one day.

Cons:

>> The effects are VERY slow
>> Can make your skin a little pink and sensative for the first month
>> Did nothing about my blackheads

People need to give Differin more of a chance before they give up: >> I DID NOT see effects within 2 weeks >> I saw mild changes after 3 months. >> I saw significant changes after 6-8 months >> I had no Acne after 10-12 months Differin takes a long time to take effect, but it's worth it. It cleares your acne and gives your skin time to repair and even out. BOTTOM LINE - PERSIST!

Pros:

Goes on smoothly, makes skin less oily.

Cons:

BAD SIDE EFFECTS. It made me face red, itchy, sensitive, and irritated to everything, and it gets worse for months.

I had moderate acne before I used this product, and now it is severe. I've been using it for 2 months, and all it is doing is making it worse, with bad side effects, and if you're out in the sun for more than 5 minutes, you'll burn like crazy. Also, it's been leaving really bad scars that DON'T go away, not even after 2 month, and even if you use a LITTLE bit more than you're supposed to, your skin will get easily irritated. Bottom line, this just made my skin SO much worse!

Pros:

no bad smell, no bad side effects, a little effective

Cons:

didn't clear up acne

my derm prescribed it and i used the.1 gel for 3 months and it did very little for my skin except give me a bunch of tiny pimples and bumps everywhere. it brought out maybe 1/4 of my clogged pores and breakouts but not all of it. i have really bad comedonal acne & clogged pores... which i still have! so just got switched over to tazorac. i hope it works better!

Pros:

It did not dry my skin out as much as I thought it would.
Goes on smoothly and not as a mask feeling

Cons:

breaking me out, has not done anything for my cystic acne for 2 weeks now. It's expensive even with insurance

it's worth a try but after a month of trying it and no results?....move on

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
