Cheap
Safe (Correct Dose)
Easy
Non-Topical
Works Quickly
No/Limited Side Effects

Cons:

Possible Nausea

Zinc is an amazing and effective treatment for acne that is caused by hormonal imbalance. I have run the literal racket concerning various acne treatments ( proactiv, benzoyl peroxide, epiduo, minocycline, coconut oil, salicylic acid, carley's clean and clear, apple cider vinegar, etc, etc, ad nauseum ). Here is the problem with all of the above; they attempt to treat the symptom of a bigger problem ( in most cases ). Topicals don't work for many people because the problem isn't a superficial one, but rather an internal imbalance. I stumbled upon Zinc when I began to realize that to treat my acne, I needed to find the root cause of the problem; and for me, all the signs pointed to a hormonal imbalance, poor diet ( high in sugar ), and a deficiency in Zinc. Every sufferer of acne has some form of Zinc deficiency, some greater or lesser than others. An easy way to tell if you might be Zinc deficient is to check your nails for white spots; this is a hallmark sign that you could be running low on Zinc. I have been on Zinc ( 30 mg a day ) for about two weeks now and the results are rather striking. Gone are the deep, painful nodules. My chin acne has all but completely vanished, and my jawline and neck are improving all the same. Diet ( especially sugar ) has caused havoc with my skin, but with Zinc, even when I give in and have a sugary treat, I don't seem to break out at all, and if I do, it is a small, superficial bump; not a cyst. I have noticed some people complain that they were taking the recommended dose but that they didn't see any results. It is important to note that you have to take 30 mg of ELEMENTAL Zinc. This can get tricky because Zinc Gluconate 50 mg, only contains 7 mg of actual, elemental Zinc. In order to get the effective dosage you need to take 200 mg of Zinc Gluconate to get the 30 mg of elemental Zinc. If you suffer from hormonal acne, or acne connected

Pros:

- Proven to work
- Cheap

Cons:

- You have to be consistent

I have been using zinc to treat my light acne for about a year and a half and I can safely say that I haven't found something as effective to greatly diminish my breakouts. I take 22,5 mg in the morning and 22,5 mg before bed.

Pros:

Clears Blemishes
Makes your skin brighter and Healthier
Less Blackheads around my Nose and Chin
reduces Redness and Inflammation

Cons:

I was wondering why everyone kept saying to make sure you eat something before you take Zinc....YESS if not taken on a full stomach you will get stomach cramps or Nausea.

I'm 19yrs old and have had acne since I was about 13. About 2yrs ago I tried Murad Acne Treatment......Waste of money and It completely Broke my face out to the point of where I had to stay home from school for like a week. Now If I were to rate my skin on acne from a 1 to 10. 4 normally and 7 on a bad day. It's always been "moderate" but It's literally been less than a week and if not 90% of my acne has cleared. I had no Idea that Zinc of all things could clear acne. and not only that but I workout alot and sometimes would get tiny pimples on my back..THERE COMPLETELY GONE. This stuff is a miracle worker. If you have acne . TRY THIS. It works. I'm never gonna stop taking it. I take 1 50 mg in the morning ( with breakfast) and then 1 50mg (with dinner) but after about 2 more weeks I'll just cut back to 1 pill a day. Like I said it works fast BUT just make sure you take it on a FULL stomach. Good luck guys

Pros:

It is making my previous acne scars fade fast

Helping to prevent new breakouts

Cons:

None for me

I dont really get acne anymore maybe like one spot every two weeks but what I do have is hyper pigmentation which I have been trying to get rid of for a couple months. I take the 30mg once a day at bedtime. My scarring has reduced alot and is almost gone. Zinc really works!

Pros:

- Reasonably cheap
- Easy to use
- Effective
- Prevents new breakouts

Cons:

- Stomach pains if taken on an empty stomach
- Doesn't do much for active breakouts

I've only been using this for a week, but it has been great for my acne. I'm a 16 year-old girl with moderately severe acne and pretty bad hyperpigmentation. I started getting acne when I was around 12, and it's gotten increasingly worse over the years. I'd even started getting a few cystic pimples. I finally tried zinc and am so happy with the results! In a week my skin looks better than it has in months or maybe even years! I've found that zinc doesn't do much to reduce active breakouts, but it does prevent new ones from forming, so I'm expecting my skin to continue to improve as my pimples heal. Zinc also hasn't done anything to help my hyperpigmentation, but honestly I'm just happy to see the active acne going away. I bought the Jamieson brand zinc for $15 for 100 50mg pills and have been taking two per day with a meal. The recommended dosage is to take only 1 pill a day, so if you're going to take two you should probably talk to your doctor. Personally I haven't noticed any side effects but I'm no medical professional either. Good luck to everyone on your journey to clear skin!

Pros:

-Clears blemishes(even cystic)
-Improved skin texture
-Worked in about a week
-Cheap and effective
-Ezcema is less aggressive

Cons:

-If taken on empty stomach ive experienced slight nausea and stomach pains. Nothing too serious.

It works for me. Im a 16 year old girl who has moderate - severe acne plus hyperpigmentation. Ive researched everything and finally discovered that taking 2 50mg zinc gluconate caplets eveyday or other day with a meal clears my skin remarkably. I also suggest a skin product called Acnevir(found at walmart), which is what i use alongside zinc. Its a topical gel formula( benzoyl peroxide) worked wonders.. Anyways i recommend this. Drink this with your daily recommended intake of water and of course a relatively healthy diet and your skin will improve! You will thank yourself and of course zinc! (Oh and the brand of zinc for me was a store brand at CVS)

Pros:

I have meant to write this for a while. I started taking zinc out of desperation a few years ago. My acne on my cheeks was really bad and neither retin-A nor oral antibiotics was working-- and I'd tried everything OTC. Within literally 5 days the acne went away, and hasn't come back. I get a very rare pimple or two, but it's absolutely astonishing how well it works. I wish more dermatologists looked at diet instead of just throwing piils! it would have saved me years of suffering.

Cons:

You have to eat something substantial before-- I forget some mornings and have been sick very soon after taking it.

for some people, this is really the ticket. I don't think it will help everyone so well, but PLEASE give it a try. I waited way too long.

Pros:

Cheap
Natural
Suggested to regulate hormones
Helps heal quickly

Cons:

Hurts stomach if not taken with food

I know that zinc's aid in fighting acne is controversal, however, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I would much rather take a vitamin/mineral that take medication. I really think that this plays a part in helping acne. I believe that for many people, acne is an internal issue and should be fought on the inside as well as the outside. I think taking this supplement in conjunction with using good products is a great way to see results. I follow the regimen (I use purpose face wash, Dan's BP, and Dan's moisturizer). I follow the directions, morning and night, and try to be very gentle. I do this while taking zinc, vitamin A + D, and B complex with C. I have been doing this everyday for the past few months and I feel that it has really helped my skin. I think zinc is really worth a try, it has shown to have such successful results in many people - and it can't hurt. Just make sure to take on a full stomach every time! Good luck!!! :-)

Pros:

Noticeable improvement in skin
Skin is smoother
Blemishes healed fast

Cons:

Upset stomach if taken without food

I have been dealing with painful cystic acne, large pores, and blackheads for quite some time now. After reading all of the amazing reviews on zinc I went to my local health food store to purchase a bottle about a month ago. Within days I noticed my skin clearing up. As each week passed, my skin got better and better. For the first time since pre-puberty, my face is 98% clear and it's honestly a miracle. If I do get a blemish it heals quickly, my scars are fading, and my overall skin texture is smooth. If you are struggling with acne, save yourself the money on prescriptions and topicals, and get yourself a bottle of OptiZinc by Source Naturals (This is the one I use).

Pros:

*AMAZING!!!! AMAZING!!! AMAZING!!!!
*Inexpensive
*Anti-inflammatory
*no side effects
*a natural remedy
*an essential mineral for an overall support of the immune system
*improves the overall appearance of the skin

Cons:

absolutely no cons. =)

I've struggled with terrible hormonal acne for the last 2 years and it was extremely embarrassing to have clusters of stubborn cystic acne along the jawline and on chin. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked. However, after using Zinc for about 2 months now I cannot believe how my skin has cleared up!! I am thrilled to say that I am officially pimple free! Initially, for the first week, I was taking 50 mg of zinc daily ( 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg in the evening). However, I then lowered the dosage to just 25 mg a day and I find that 25 mg is still very substantial and works fantastic! I would recommend zinc to everyone!!!!!
