Pros:

Working well with only 5 days of use
-acne is clearing up real fast
-very few new pimples appear now

Cons:

none that I know of..Doesn't make me sick like others and I take 150 mg.

This stuff works real well, the new pimples I am getting are probably those that already were developing before i started this zinc regime. But everyday, my skin looks alot nicer, and I do have hormonal acne so zinc is definitely a key supplement to take if you have hormonal acne. Its cheap too, 8 dollars for 90 tablets of chelated zinc.

Pros:

- cheap
- beneficial towards your health
- prevents new acne
- effective
- easy to take
- vivid dreams (only got them if i took it like 5-10 mins before i went to sleep)

Cons:

- upset stomach/nausea if taken without a meal
- metallic taste

DO NOT EXCEED THE LIMIT OF 150MG OF ZINC SUPPLEMENTS IN YOUR DIET OTHERWISE IT COULD BE VERY DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH.

Pros:

Is an effective substitute/alternative to antibiotics without the side effects of antibiotics for acne.

Definitely provides more marginal benefits for acne than Proactiv.

Cons:

It works very well for some, moderately well for most others, no effect for a few others.

In my opinion, I think the conflicting results are due to those who doesn't have much relief from acne not taking note of certain things when taking zinc supplements for acne treatments. I have written and summaries all the things possible that you need to take note for zinc acne treatment. Zinc is a promising treatment for acne. Don't because of the following points as stated below, you conclude that it doesn't work for you. [link removed]

How many days or weeks did it take to notice a difference?
April 3, 2013

Pros:

Easy way to treat possible imbalances that cause cystic hormonal acne
No bad side-effects (I personally had no nausea whatsoever)
Depending on brand, quite cheap treatment

Cons:

Likely shouldn't take it long-term
Be VERY careful with taking higher doses and do your research

I've had internal problems causing acne for a while. My nails were brittle and splitting and I had plenty of white spots, so I figured zinc had to factor in somewhere. As far as the acne went, all my breakouts have been on my chin, generally starting cystic and painful, and have been there consistent for a few years now. When one pimple cleared up, yet another would show up painful and aching. It didn't matter how much I washed my face or what I used to do so. Clearly hormonal. I started taking 100 mg of zinc gluconate (two 50 mg pills). About a week after starting that I also started nightly benzoyl peroxide applications to my chin. Together they're clearing it up entirely - the zinc fixing the internal problems, the peroxide killing whatever was on the surface and helping clear up blackheads in the process, a nice bonus. Very relieved this worked. i will likely scale my dose WAY back once the majority of my acne clears up, as I doubt whatever zinc deficiency I have requires the full 100 mg, which I took mostly out of desperation. 50 mg might have worked just as well, I couldn't say, I didn't try it. I'd recommend starting at 50 mg (which I didn't do) and if that doesn't help, up your dose at that point.

Pros:

My skin is not nearly as oily, really keeps the pimples down on top of Retin A

Cons:

I apply it topically and it is a pain to crush the tablet and add to my moisturizer

It works really well topically.

Dries out acne rapidly
Seems to be curing persistent yeast infection
Speeds up skin's healing time
Makes skin incredibly soft and smooth
Logical dreams? Not sure if this is a pro
Diminished under eye bags

Cons:

Small head aches
Dry skin in belly button, on lips and on nipples
Faster body hair growth

I've been taking a 50mg chelated zinc capsule every day for the last two days. Ordinarily I wouldn't leave a review after such a short length of time, but I'm already seeing results. I was on a BC pill for several years for my PCOS. It helped immensely but gave me paralyzing migraines, which my doctor said put me at risk of a stroke. I've heard conflicting things - that zinc is an ingredient in the pills and that they cause a deficiency. I think I may have been deficient purely because the chronic yeast infection that I have that never responds to treatment is beginning to clear up. This apparently is a common sign that I needed more zinc. My mum tried it for balancing her hormones as a young woman. Apparently it didn't make her either better or worse, nor did it make her feel ill. Whilst it has helped with my acne and thrush I also feel ill after taking them with a meal (although the feeling wasn't as bad yesterday as the day before). Anyway, on to the important bit. My acne has been mild/moderate lately. I've only had one breakout of about 30 small whiteheads mostly on my cheeks that have been there for about a month. It's like the zinc has sucked everything out of them so that they're red dots that lie flat across my skin (btw, lemon juice is fantastic at blitzing hyper pigmentation). I had a small initial breakout on my forehead, but the skin heals fast there anyway so it's irrelevant. I've had a few people who are close to me comment on how much better my skin is looking. I've been exfoliating twice a week with sugar, splashing warm/hot water on my face twice a day, letting the water from the shower drum over my face and using a calcium betonite clay with apple cider vinegar mask twice a week. Oh, and it cleared my chest breakout on the first day. They were a line of red spots that I'd had for quite a while that wouldn't go away. I'll do an updated review with further use. I'

Pros:

Less oily skin
Helps eliminate hormonal acne

Cons:

Can be hell if not taken with food
It's hard to find Zinc without Calcium or Dicalcium Phosphate (those decrease the absorption)
After long term use you can become copper deficient

I read up online that certain forms of Zinc (chelated zinc and opti zinc seem to be the most popular) can reduce cystic acne or hormonal acne. In my case, it has drastically improved hormonal acne on my chin. I had severe breakouts everyday to the point where it hurt to move my mouth or smile from the deep nodules/cysts that had developed all over my chin. However, it only went that far. Zinc supplements haven't helped with acne breakouts anywhere else on my face, but I think it's extremely beneficial for those who primarily suffer from hormonal breakouts, especially around the jawline area. I should also note that I've only been able to find zinc that contains calcium (Target brand) which isn't generally recommended from most people online because it tends to not work so well. With that said, it may just be the zinc supplements I'm taking and I need to switch which I will probably end up doing in the future.

Pros:

Cleared up acne a tiny bit
Good for Immune System

Cons:

None

I suggest trying as their is nothing for you to lose. Zinc did help my acne a tiny bit, not as much as I hoped it would've. I used it for 3 1/2 months and saw results in about 3 weeks.
