Pros:

Clears acne if your immune system is really low
Cheap too
Easy to take

Cons:

Make sure you eat with food

So basically this is really good and has helped me when my face needed an extra boost internally to help kill bad bacteria. I saw significant results when i took them. Just be very sure to take with food. So once,i had gotten my acne under control i stopped taking them and my acne hasnt returned so it really doest boost your immune system pretty well. Also i might add for those of you who have hormone related acne zinc actually raises testosterone so just be cautious because it can throw your hormones out of balance if you take too much.

I've been taking a 50mg chelated zinc capsule every day for the last two days. Ordinarily I wouldn't leave a review after such a short length of time, but I'm already seeing results. I was on a BC pill for several years for my PCOS. It helped immensely but gave me paralyzing migraines, which my doctor said put me at risk of a stroke. I've heard conflicting things - that zinc is an ingredient in the pills and that they cause a deficiency. I think I may have been deficient purely because the chronic yeast infection that I have that never responds to treatment is beginning to clear up. This apparently is a common sign that I needed more zinc. My mum tried it for balancing her hormones as a young woman. Apparently it didn't make her either better or worse, nor did it make her feel ill. Whilst it has helped with my acne and thrush I also feel ill after taking them with a meal (although the feeling wasn't as bad yesterday as the day before). Anyway, on to the important bit. My acne has been mild/moderate lately. I've only had one breakout of about 30 small whiteheads mostly on my cheeks that have been there for about a month. It's like the zinc has sucked everything out of them so that they're red dots that lie flat across my skin (btw, lemon juice is fantastic at blitzing hyper pigmentation). I had a small initial breakout on my forehead, but the skin heals fast there anyway so it's irrelevant. I've had a few people who are close to me comment on how much better my skin is looking. I've been exfoliating twice a week with sugar, splashing warm/hot water on my face twice a day, letting the water from the shower drum over my face and using a calcium betonite clay with apple cider vinegar mask twice a week. Oh, and it cleared my chest breakout on the first day. They were a line of red spots that I'd had for quite a while that wouldn't go away. I'll do an updated review with further use. I'

Pros:

it works for me, only been taking for a week, acne not clear, but dramatically reduced.

Cons:

none so far

i'm 40 years old and have suffered hormonal acne since mid teens, i have tried loads of skincare, pills, herbal remedies, and decided enough was enough, my next stop was to ask the dr for help....but before i did, something caught my eye about zinc for acne, so i bought some zinc tablets (10mg) from chemist and starting taking them just one week ago....and for the first time in over 20 years i finally see a difference!! i usually flare up 5 days before a period, especially around my jawline/temples/neck, and i always have big red (and small red) spots on my chest and back, my face can be spot free for a couple of days before the cycle begins again, altho my back and chest are never spot free.... i am anemic, so i take iron (ferrous sulphate prescription) daily, along with vit E, calcium and vit D, evening primrose and a B complex tablet (as i'm a veggie) every day,....also as i take iron, i take my tablet with a vit C drink...(which they gave me when i was in hospital as it helps absorb the iron) please note this if you find you are anemic....tea and coffee depletes iron, so best taken with fresh orange juice or vit c drink..... anyway....i am 1 day away from a period and my face and neck is completely clear....but the biggest change has been on my back and chest....yes i still have some tiny pink dots...but no great big bumpy spots...and as far my back!!!!...wow...i noticed the other day that my back felt different...then i realised its cos it didn;t feel like a pebble dashed building....it felt smooth!...i got my daughters to take photos so i could see...and although there is the odd small spot...probably about 15....it is no where near what its been for the past 25 years.i probably had over 100 spots on my back and shoulders.....i couldn;t believe this was as a result of taking zinc, so i googled and came accross this site...i just had to register and share my experience....this has been such a quick result....and i will review again after

Pros:

Helps acne heal quicker
Reduces oil production
Got rid of eczema as well
Helps with dandruff
Raises libido
Cheap

Cons:

Makes me nauseous
Have to take with food

I've used zinc for the last few months. I've read a lot of reports of people saying that they have gotten clear in just a few days. Even though I don't say that their statements aren't true, it has not worked for me that way. I saw results after a few weeks of using zinc. As far as I've been told, it will take new spots a month before they come up. So it is natural for zinc not to clear you in just a few days, as any acne treatment for that matter. I did try taking zinc before and usually I quit after a week or so, not seeing results and the zinc making me nauseous. For all those people that are experiencing the same, hang in there for just a few more weeks. My acne has gotten a whole lot better, especially on my back. I've noticed that the oiliness in my face is also greatly reduced. It has given me other benefits as well, helping my eczema and dandruff, and I've noticed an increased libido. The one thing I don't like about zinc is that is makes me nauseous every time, even a little bit if I take it with food. But for me, the benefits outweigh the nausea. I began taking 60 mg of Now Foods L-Optizinc (30 mg in the morning and 30mg in the evening), and after a few weeks I've lowered the dose to 30 mg, which is fine. I've tried other types of zinc in the past but they didn't seem to work as well as the Optizinc one. The cheapest I've found so far is on iHerb, the code UPU014 gives you a 5 dollar discount.

This really works! I started taking this about two weeks ago after finding out about it on the Internet. I was at the end of my rope. My cystic acne was so bad around my mouth that I didn't want to leave the house. I was so embarrassed. I would say towards the end of the first week, I could see a drastic difference. My acne cleared up and I could tell my skin was a lot less oily. Right now, I do have 2 pimples, but it is that time of the month and 2 is a lot better than 10! Also, when they do come, they don't stay very long. I will wake up and they will have shrunk considerably over night. I take 50mg/ day after dinner. No nausea at all. Like others, I wish I had found this years ago. I am 35 and have been struggling with acne since I was a teenager. If you are struggling with acne, try this! You don't have anything to lose.

Pros:

* Seems to help skin heal quicker.
* Might be preventing new pimples!
* Less redness

Cons:

* Weird metallic taste in my mouth sometimes.
* Might be giving me weird dreams every time I sleep (even naps).
* Might be making me more drowsy than usual.

So I've only been taking this for about 5 days now, but my skin (so far) is MUCH better. I'm on my 3rd month of spironolactone and my skin was doing a lot better but all of the sudden about 2 weeks ago it went CRAZY. I've also been breaking out on my forehead which has NEVER been an issue for me until I started the spiro, so hopefully it'll go away with time. Plus almost all of my acne is like mini-cysts under the skin so it's kindof unusual .Anyways I couldn't take it anymore so 5 days ago I decided to try zinc. I take 50mg after dinner every night and I'm going to keep taking it because so far I haven't had anything but good results. I'm not sure if acne.org lets people edit their reviews, but if I can I'll come back and edit this in a couple weeks to give an update on my results. Give this a try, people. Seriously, you honestly have nothing to lose.

Pros:

-works, after one month, 75% of my acne is gone?
-Skin's ability to heal itself significantly improved
-Reduced oiliness of skin

Cons:

-a bit too slow for me, week to week, my acne has been getting better, but within each week, I still have flare ups.
-Nausea if not taken with food.
-if you use it at a high dose for a long time, you run the risk of becoming anemic because zinc inhibits the absorption of iron in your intestinal tract.

Take it at a lower dose (25-50mg), and while taking it, actively try to up your iron intake through food. I was too aggressive about taking the zinc because it seemed to work really well and it's definitely possible to overdose on it.
