Topical Treatments not working? Try Zinc

Pros:

Clear Skin, no new breakouts.
Calmed inflammation.
Healed existing lesions.

Cons:

Will make you sick if you take on empty stomach or take a lot.

I've had acne for about three years and there's been ups and downs but generally washing treatments have done very little for my skin. I've tried many bp products and other typical over-the-counter acne products and nothing really "cured" it. My Dermatologist just prescribed me different antibiotics until she wanted to put me on accutane. I started taking 50mg of zinc daily and my skin started healing so fast. Plus I fewer and fewer pimples were sprouting up until it was clear. I stopped for a while without changing anything else and it came back. I'm not saying this is the cure for everyone but if you think you might be deficient, give it a try. It could change everything.

Pros:

allowed me to stop using bp. like others have said, no more cystic painful acne -- zits are little and heal quickly when they do appear.

Cons:

none really. only caveat is that you'll need to take iron and copper supplements as well to avoid the hair loss and other ill effects from massive zinc supplementation.

basically, it was my miracle cure. i use nature's plus time released zinc which you can take on an empty stomach. i take 100mg/day.

Pros:

It really works!

Cons:

Can give u an upset stomach. I now take a 1/2 tablet twice a day with meal.

I am 33 years old and have struggled with acne since I was 23. 10 Years!! I have spent so much money on products that didn't work. I noticed a difference in my skin just afeter a couple days of taking it. I also take Silca (horsetail) which is also great for your skin. My hair and nails grow like crazy now!! I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!

Pros:

Easy to find, affordable, treats your whole body from inside out

Cons:

mild stomach upset

Zinc may help you if you are zinc deficient. Zinc is naturally found in meat, and if you are vegetarian (like me) chances are you are not getting enough. My skin was taking forever to heal even after the most minor breakouts. The scars and discolorations would last longer and look worse than the pimples themselves. I've been on 45 mg zinc per day for about 2 weeks now and I can already see a difference. Definitely recommended if you have sensitive skin and trouble healing. Just DON'T overdo it.

Definitely worth a try!
Started taking 10 000i.u Vitamin A and 20mg Zinc about a month ago. I also started washing my face with Dove soap and a manual facial brush because I wear makeup regularly, I then moisturize with the Dove baby sensitive lotion. This has taken away all my acne (which I've had consistently for about 9 years now).. It's worth a try

Zinc For The Win
It works very well for acne. Combining it with a fish oil and multi vitamin supplement everyday helps even more.
