Best thing I've used in 14 years
I've had acne/ eczema since I was 10. There have been years where it has calmed down but also years where it's full blown cystic acne. Birth control did help so between 16-21 my skin was decent. I had to stop the pill due to other health reasons and I swear over night my skin went from fine to extremely dry and full of all kinds of zits, whiteheads, milia, cysts. Nothing worked except changing my diet. I cut our most animal products and slowly saw an improvement this year. But I was still getting acne and had dry spots. Lately I've been having digestion issues and my vitamin D level was checked. Vitamin D is not part of normal blood test. Turns out my level 12 when 30 is normal. I was told it would've taken years to get that low. There are lots of health complications associated with Vitamin D deficiency one of them is unbalanced hormones which equals skin problems. Six weeks ago I began taking a vitamin D supplement. The first week my skin went from extremely dry to extremely oily (something I'm not used to) but I didn't try to dry it out like old me would've done. I sticked with my normal skincare routine and haven't changed any makeup. It's been six weeks and this morning when I looked in the mirror I actually saw my skin. I only have about two active zits on my face and they are normal whiteheads. Yes, I have lots of scars, but my skin actually looks healthy. I have six weeks left on my high dose prescription of vitamin D then my levels get checked. I encourage anyone with acne to get vitamins and minerals checked. Acne is a result of inflammation somewhere in the body not bad hygiene.

Hail Vit D3!!!!
Definitely working. I had started taking only the vitamin d3 with no other supplements for 1 week and didnt get much result and after that i started taking with omega-3 for almost 2 weeks now n have seen huge results of improvement which i havnt seen post puberty. Have tried all otc products n stuffs u name it. Isotretinoin for 2 courses but had a very bad results for my overall health, so i stopped. Since reading sebumsucks post i have true faith in this supplement and started on this. I am truly grateful for all the influencial posts ive read in this thread. Thnk u all and God Bless. Spread the word.

Its been a week and no change. I'll check back in a month.

Well its been a month and absolutely no difference in oil. I suspect most peoples experience with less oil was coincidental. I'll go one more month since I have such a large bottle of vitamin D :)

Never thought my skin would clear up! Vitamin D3 is miraculous.
I've had acne for 10+ years, and it always comes in cycles, usually the very worst toward the end of my "cycle." It has never been clear for an extended period of time. My skin is not oily at all, it's extremely dry because I have atopic dermatitis as well, so fighting acne has always come at the expense of my eczema and the other way around. I've had treatments for my hormones, cut different things out of my diet at different times, tried proactiv, antibiotics, and everything in between. I also use the clarisonic Mia 2, and am 99% sure that my acne was not a topical problem. Finally, someone suggested that I may have a vitamin D deficiency. I already had been taking zinc, fish oil, and vitamin E, so I had no qualms about sing in vitamin D3. Within a month... WOW. My skin is not perfect, but it has not looked this great in years! At first I thought that it was a fluke, but when my time of the month came, I only had one or two small pimples on my chin. I take the vitafusion gummies, and I loooove them. I'm 23 years old, so it's about darn time that something works! If you're at the end of your rope, I would highly recommend vitamin D3 if your problem does not appear to be a topical issue.

Pros:

Clears up skin
Improved mood massively
This supplement enormously improved my life, it has been a miracle

Cons:

You can overdose if you consistently take too much for several months/years. 400 iu per day is recommended for no od

My whole life I've had very good skin, maybe 3 pimples a month and I've always had very slight problems with dryness. 5 months ago when my senior year started in the fall I started consistently breaking out and getting horrible dry skin at the same time. I cant use topical acne treatments because they make my skin so sensitive, so I just bought an aloe Vera plant and cut open the leaves and rubbed the gel on like lotion, which helped the dryness and flaking a little. But it got to the point where my skin was constantly peeling like a sunburn and I was breaking out horribly, in places I've never broken out before in my life like my forehead and chin. I had constant anxiety ranging from a general sense of dread to heart pounding semi anxiety attacks. I also had sensitivity to blood sugar spikes after meals. I went to the doctor and she did blood tests. I was vitamin d deficient, and had been ever since fall started. I took vitamin d and within half an hour I felt my mood just lift. It started slowly helping my skin. A week later I started taking the capsules that come with vitamin d and calcium together and the good results tripled, my skin cleared up it's dryness and my pimples were all gone. Unfortunately I started birth control (still taking vit d and calcium at the same time throughout) two days after my skin got perfect and it made me break out again. But I'm about to go off the BC and I know my skin will go back to perfect and the good mood the vit d gave has maintained throughout taking the BC (about the only side effect I haven't had with BC is mood swings, I'm a poster child for all the others) Actual bottom line: Take the pills that come with vit d and calcium together, otherwise your body won't absorb it as effectively It only worked for me cause my acne was caused by d deficiency, if it doesn't work it means you already have

broke me out
Thought it was THE cure! started clearing up my face. I have a slight deficiency and i took 5,000 UI per day. On 2 occasions, I have had a severe breakout after 1 week. I am currently battling one, with itchy pimples and boils like pustules. Stopping supplementing as of today. Could be that I took too much, or could be the ingredients in my supplement. But no cure for me.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin, the best thing I have tried yet!

Cons:

Zero

This is the best thing I have tried for my skin yet. Tried minocycline, it worked, but had some sketchy side effects. I would strongly recommend anyone to try this before anything else! Also, it is very cheap! I take 4,000 IU daily along with using a Clarsonic exfoliator and have found it to be the best regime for my skin. I have breakouts now and then that only last a couple days.

Pros:

Makes skin so much smoother!
Less acne popping up
More energy

Cons:

Have to remember to take pills :P
A wee bit expensive, but most all vitamins are

I bought a bottle of vitamin D3 from Whole Foods not for acne, but because a blood test I had done showed low levels of it. My acne clearing up was a wonderful and unexpected side effect of taking the pills - it really has been years since my facial skin has been consistently clear. It probably won't work for everybody, but since many people around the world are glued to their electronics and hardly see the light of day nowadays, it is quite possible that some acne is associated with a lack of sunlight. My vitamin D has 400 IU and I pop a few of them each day. It is vitamin D3 (Not just D), which is apparently more like the type you get from being exposed to sunlight. Anyway, I've been taking these pills for about 2 weeks and it is the first thing that has drastically improved my skin in such a small amount of time. I believe that it is really worth a try (as most people are deficient in vitamin D anyway :P), just make sure that you buy something good quality and that it says D3. I really hope this works for others like it did for me!

Pros:

no zits
multivitamin is good all around bodily

vitamin D seems to be working for my REALLY stubborn skin. i read that it was a trending treatment and i had a bottle of these multivitamins, so i started taking one every day to see if anything happened. i literally went from a few horrible new deep zits a week to nothing since i started. the review i read said there would be a month of purging but so far no purge for me. here are the vitamins i am taking: [link removed] i have tried: various scrubbing methods coconut oil lemons accutane (worked but too dangerous to keep up)

Pros:

Reduces oil production
Better moods, especially if you have S.A.D
More energy
Stronger bones
Important if you live in a low sunlight area or wear lots of sunscreen every day

Cons:

Nothing

It's in my multivitamin and I take 2000ius on top of that. People around me suffer from my bad moods when I don't take them.
