Vitamin D dried out my greasy skin and greasy hair and stopped my acne
I had cystic acne for 13 years that got worse as I was ovulating every month. It appeared to be hormonal acne. I of course tried so many things that didn't work. Then one day I read about vitamin D3 and a week after taking it my acne was gone. I take 7000 IU per day. I am a 120lb female. The more I take the drier my skin is which is what stops my acne from happening. The first two weeks that I took it, my skin started peeling a lot. I loved it. The peeling made my hyperpigmentation go away faster and if there was a small bump, it would peel right off, rather than growing into a big infected cyst. If I take 8000 IU it's too much because my eyelids and eyeballs start to dry out. At one point I took 10 000 IU for a few days and my eyes got extremely dry and puffy. If I take 5000 IU it still works, but I get small bumps here and there. If I miss my Vitamin D pills for half a day I begin to break out again. I've been taking it for about a month now. I ovulated without breaking out for the first time in my life. My hair is also not uncontrollably greasy anymore. I can wash it every 2 days now, where I used to have to wash it 1-2 times per day and it always looked terribly greasy before washes.

Pros:

Inexpensive
It worked for me

Cons:

You can take too much Vitamin D

I am 32 and I have been battling severe acne for a couple years. I have been on Minocycline, spironolactone and Duac and of course I have tried EVERY face cream and product on the planet. You name it, I've tried it! I am indoors all day and when I am outside I always wear sunscreen so I get almost no sunlight! I read the reviews on vitamin D and rushed out to get a bottle. I started taking 1000IU Vitamin D a day and a multi vitamin. It has been 2 weeks and I have seen a significant improvement in my acne. I have never posted on here before but I am really excited about the improvement I've seen. So go get some and good luck!

Pros:

clear skin....

Cons:

none so far

today is my 5th day taking 2000iu of D3 once a day and for the first time since I began puberty I feel like something's worked. I'm a 21 year old male and I live in Minnesota where we have cold long winters and at least for me, my acne gets bad in the winter and clears up in the summer and I've honestly tried everything and after trial and many errors I went to a derm who prescribed me with minocyclin, differin 3.0 for night and clindagel for morning and I don't use any moisturizer because I don't like all that sh*t on my face. I still use all of the above.... Vitamin D3=lack of painful cysts Try it. Bottom line, vitamin D is good for you as long as you don't OD on it and if it could cure your acne like it has mine there's no risk unlike accutane. If you think you might be lacking sunlight this is DEFINITELY worth your time.

Pros:

Reduces acne lesion count
Decreases acne inflammation
Less oily skin
Cheap and effective
No side effects

Cons:

None

I started taking Vitamin D supplements because a blood test showed a deficiency and I was told by family members that it increased energy and mental clarity. I never expected it to have this type of result on acne. I went through a second round of accutane for 8 months which cleared my acne completely. However the acne came back. BP and salicylic acid kind of worked but I wasn't satisfied and they dried my skin out. I soon noticed however after taking vitamin d for a few weeks that the my acne had disappeared. I conducted a few tests to see if it was in fact the vitamin d that was the culprit. Every time I stopped the vitamin d the acne would come back. I literally noticed over night that when I took a dose again, the acne on my face started to heal. The inflammation would decrease drastically. I also noticed my face was much less oily. I continue to take vitamin d with very good results. I take 5000IU a day. 2000IU in the morning and 3000IU at night. Any acne I do get is very tiny and heals very fast with virtually no inflammation.

Pros:

Reduced redness
Decreased oil production

Cons:

None

I have had acne for a few years now and only recently has it slowed down, but has not come to a complete halt. Acne.org pointed me in the direction of vitamin D3 (Now Foods Vitamin D3). I have been taking it in combination with zinc (Source Naturals Optizinc Zinc Monomethionine 30mg) and it has been working wonders. My face is clearing up and has never felt this smooth. Vitamin D3 has definitely made a difference.

finally content
To start I started getting acne in 8th grade really bad t zone acne, forehead and inner cheeks full of red dots, went on tretinoin cream and clindamycin and I was clear... Then winter came around as a freshman and I dealt again with overly dry red dot t zone acne again. I went on doxycycline for 6 months in 9th grade and I had the clearest skin ever in combination with cetaphil and clindamycin.... Went off doxy and broke out horribly, very sad :( but I noticed that after that bad break out when I joined soccer and was out in the sun all day every day I was clearing up ALOT.. Winter comes around again in 10th grade and I break out again.. Feeling hopeless I am prescribed Minocyclin, which thank god I decided not to take. At this time I am using OCM w hemp oil and clarisonic every other day, but It always seemed like it was something inside of me breaking out. My diet has always been meticulous, never drank milk or ate junk food and drank a ton of water. I was so confused and sad because the OCM was breaking me out so bad and I even tried ACV Which never worked either. I was so close to starting antibiotics again bc I was so sad. But I began to think why am I so clear in the summer but never in the winter.. So I started doing research and took vitamin d3 6000 iu and I'm now almost two months in and my skin is so much clearer I really hope this lasts.. I must have been really deficient considering I don't drink any milk, I've also noticed my digestive system has been awesome too.. Has anyone else had an experience like this? My anxiety is finally going away too

Holy Grail
Through researching acne.org, I decided to give zinc and D3 a try. Wow wow wow is all I can say. The combination works better than the antiobiotics I've taken in the past like Minocycline. I know that I most likely was Vitamin D deficient since I never see the sun with my overnight shift at work. I don't know if it's a placebo affect or not, but I also notice that I'm not really depressed anymore and that my skin glows (in addition to being CLEAR for the first time in over a decade). The addition of Zinc and D3 to the Regimen was the final touch I needed to take me from mostly clear to 100% clear....hopefully the scars go away completely soon. I got the gummies by Vitafusion. They taste better than candy, which makes me way more inclined to take them. I started on 4,000 iu daily since I am most likely deficient. I'll most likely keep it at that amount since newer studies recommend around 5,000, as opposed to the previously recommended much lower amounts.

This works!
I'm posting this review as a cystic acne sufferer for almost 8 years. I went on 2 courses of aaccutane, antibiotics and numerous OTC topical treatments for my acne. But nothing helped like vitamin d3. If your acne is related to hormonal imbalance caused by PCOD or is affected by sugar intake, do try vitamin D3. It works from week 1 itself. I use vitamin D3 4000 iu (2000 IU in the morning+2000 IU at night) along with adapalene topical application at night and my acne is under control for almost 4 months now.

IT WORKS OMG
Finally know the cause of acne. Turns out it was vitamin d! I have tried so many natural remedies, to eating clean, changing pillow sheets, cleansers, toners, you name it. Nothing worked, until I came across vitamin d :D. This really works for my acne-prone skin, and I couldn't be more happier. Try it out guys!
