Pros:

My acne is vanishing. No new pimples or annoying little zits like I'm used to getting each day.
I feel happier, turns out that after doing a bit of research on this online I found that B5 is actually a natural antidepressant of sorts. :)
It also tackles fatigue, anxiety, and apparently slows down the aging process according to some random internet sites so I don't know how entirely true that is, but still it's nice to imagine ha..

Cons:

Nothing yet.. So far this is my miracle pill..

I've only been taking this for a week or so and I've seen miraculous results. It is as if I am changing into the person I knew I could be all these years.. In part because my acne and the marks it has left are going away and the happiness that these pills instill in me by beating up the depression caused by my previous round of accutane. I have only been taking 2G a day with 2 500mg pills in the morning and 2 500mg pills at night. Megadosing can lead to hairloss and arthritis and even more problems from what I've heard and seen so I've been trying to avoid large quantities and honestly 2G a day has been perfect. These pills even stimulate dream function so I've been having awesome dreams lately too haha. I take them with a meal or at least a snack so it has food to be absorbed with. Seems to be working better that way I believe. I'm hoping to lower my dose here soon but I am so nervous because I don't want my acne to come back even for a second.. This stuff is just amazing and I didn't have to megadose or anything. Just a few pills a day and they're making me a whole new person. I definitely recommend these! :)

Pros:

Reduces oil
Reduces breakouts
Reduce cystic pimples

Cons:

Not a miracle cure

B5 has worked wonders for me. I found that 6grams daily (four 500mg tablets three times or 3 pills 4 times a day) is the right amount to control my acne. If I eat greasy/oily foods, I'll add another gram. And that's the beauty of this supplement. Once you find your ideal dosage, adjust for abnormal food intake. This isn't an excuse to have a bowl of fries, but if I do, I just increase the dosage the next two intakes. It's not an overnight cure. Start with about 4-6 grams a day, and adjust until you feel the oil production is controlled. In my case, my lips started to feel really dry... Not scientific, but you'll have to judge your own body. If it works, buy the generic B5 (pantothenic acid) online. I buy mine from puritan's pride and its fairly inexpensive for 3-6 bottles of 100 500mg tablets. Good luck... Control your diet and don't go crazy with the dosage.

Pros:

Face is less oily
Minimal weight loss
Side effects are tolerable
More natural way to cure acne
Gives another option to those considering Accutane
Cheaper than most prescription acne medicine
You can maintain use even when pregnant-Only the daily suggested amount. (Note: No mega-dosing)
Your body can't build an immunity toward it b/c it's a vitamin. (Your body can build an immunity toward prolonged use of antibiotics.)

Cons:

Many pills
Takes awhile to start seeing results
Initial breakout
Mild diarrhea
Makes me more thirsty (might be good b/c it helps discipline my daily water intake)
Hair seems a bit drier than usual
Supply is limited

I have had stubborn acne since I was 10 or so (face, neck, back, chest). I am now 26 so you can believe me when I say I've tried it ALL with the exception of Accutane. I was seriously considering Accutane out of desperation. I even had to post-pone my wedding planning for a year because I desperately wanted clear skin for the big day and honeymoon. My acne has had its ups and downs. Ironically, my skin was at its most manageable state when I was 19-21. It spiraled out of control when I turned 23. I felt hopeless... I started getting more nodules and cystic acne as I got older. Thank God that I have mastered the art of covering up my blemishes with make-up! After useless visits to the derm trying every expensive creams, antibiotics (not expensive), and washes, I decided to do some research on my own. I saw the many posts about Vitamin B5 so I decided to try it. I had about 20 cystic acne and nodules the day I started. I was completely desperate and prayed before starting. I started with 5grams per day and worked upto 10grams within 3 days. I got the 1,000mg pills so I only had to take 10 pills a day instead of 20. I also purchased it from Vitamin Shoppe. I take it with a 50mg zinc supplement, a multivitamin, and B-5 Complex whenever I remember. After about 3 or 4 days, I got cysts and nodules almost all over my face and some on my back. However, I stuck with it b/c most products do have initial breakouts. I treat the cysts and nodules with an Ibuprofen mask, apple cider vinegar, and BP, which help reduce the size by 50%. It has been 2 weeks and I am slowly seeing the results. Skin is less oily (I have SEVERELY oily skin), less whiteheads and blackheads, and I'm losing weight! =) I will stick with the megadose for 3 months to see my final results and hopefully decrease to 3-5 grams a day. I am very hopeful that this will work even if it takes a bit longer. You know what they say a good thing is worth waiting for. =) Worth a try, folks!!!

Pros:

Completely gets rid of acne on face and body
No more oily greasy skin
No major side effects

Cons:

Does cause a little bit of hairloss
DOES NOT WORK WITH BIOTIN SUPPLEMENTS!!!
A lot of pills

I used to have extremely oily skin and a lot of acne and tried everything from prescription to OTC to get rid of it but nothing worked. Now I consider vitamin b5 the miracle pill for acne. After you start taking vitamin b5 your skin gradually became less oily and your acne starts clearing up until eventually(like 4-8 weeks) you get super clear smooth skin. But you do need to take a B-Complex vitamin supplement to avoid deficiency. DO NOT take supplements with BIOTIN because you will get oily skin and acne again.

Pros:

No more oily skin, clear face.

Cons:

Dry eyes, many pills, stomach problems, $ becomes an issue.

It works, that's the bottom line. I looked for EVERYTHING to get rid of my acne and this is doing just that! Been on it for 1 month, my face went form huge pimples all over my face to just having small pimples (3 right now) and I have yet to see ONE huge pimple on my face. I use sulfur & BP 2.5% to help kill any pimples I get, they die out the same day I get them, it's incredible. I also use vitamin e oil at night to remove scars from the pimples I popped these past 2 years of suffering =/. So this stuff is working because it gets rid of my oil is what I believe. My oily face was an issue and now since oil is GONE, it seems the pimples have no way to grow and with the sulfur + BP 2.5% combination, I feel that the pimples will continue to reduce until I'm 100% clear hopefully this month. I take 5,000 mg of b5 a day. I recommend this b5 regimen. NOTE: The cons I cure as follow - 1) Dry eyes, use eye drops 2) Too many Pills, deal with it 3) Stomach problems, buy probiotic align 4) $....hope you have a job.... NOTE 2: Best place to get the pills is amazon, look for the 1,000 mg time released pills, less pills to take and still VERY effective.

Pros:

Works. Reduced oil within 1st week.
Doesn't irritate my skin.
Has worked for 5 years now.
No side effects.

Cons:

A lot of pills at first.
Frequent bathroom breaks (also at first).

Figured I'd write a review, seeing as I've been using the stuff forever now. I started out at "megadose" levels, taking 10+ grams per day. Around the end of the first week my skin started to noticeably improve. Less redness, pimples were shrinking, no new ones forming, etc. Was totally clear (including cysts) about 6 weeks in. After a few months I began to reduce my dosage, and now only take about 1 gram (time-released) every other day. Other than frequent bathroom breaks in the first few weeks (probably from all the water I was drinking as much as the vitamins), I haven't experienced any negative side effects at all, nor has anyone I've recommended the stuff to. It's probably not safe to "megadose" long term, but in my experience you shouldn't need to. B5 worked very well for me with almost no downsides, and continues to keep me clear 5 years later. Literally the only other things I do are rinse my face with water and the occasional wash with soft soap or body wash in the shower.

Pros:

1) reduces oily skin and breakoputs
2) works quickly
3) safer than accutane

Cons:

1) have to take a lot of pills
2) no negative side effects so far

I have the oiliest skin and have been on 2 courses of accutane. After each course my oily skin and acne returned within 2 months. I have been using B5 for about a week. I bought the 1000mg time released tablets off Amazon. Started with 2g (2 tablets) on day 1 and increased to 5g (5 tablets) by day 3. My skin was noticibly less oil by day 3 (about 20%) and by the first week it has decreased by 75%. I am currently taking 6g/day (3 tabs in AM and 3 tabs in PM) along with a B complex. I plan on staying at 6g/day since it seems to be working for me.

Pros:

Cons:

takes time though, depends on acne severeness obviously

At first i started to think that maybe it wasnt going to work, but after three weeks i began to see results!! i have been taking it a little over a month now and it actually works!! try it!! i am a believer!!!!

Pros:

It has helped fully clear my skin when nothing else has come close. It has flattened out my skin texture and evened out my skin tone.

Cons:

The cost of the tablets. Worrying if it will eventually stop working.

I have been on roaccutane twice. Both courses reduced the severity of my acne but neither put it into remission. I have mild/moderate acne on my nose and on the skin under both eyes. Mostly inflamed pustules, I have never really suffered with blackheads. B5 has cleared my skin. I find it hard to comprehend how taking a vitamin has produced this result when years of topicals and prescription mediation has done very little to help me. I use the Time release b5 from Holland and Barrett and I take 3 grams a day; split into two doses. It took me a week to notice the difference and I get dry skin after showing now which is lovely as my skin has always been greasy. I find it very hard to believe anecdotal reviews on the internet highly recommending a product; I don't suggest you take this review as gospel - but I at least hope you try b5 and see the results I have. To be honest, I don't even believe the results myself and I'm slowly convincing myself that this may be the magic bullet for acne.
