Pros:

Works fast! Inexpensive

Cons:

A ton of pills

At 34, I felt like I was back in junior high again when I had to take Accutane for two rounds of treatment. After using mineral make-up (watch out-ladies!!! this is widespread!) I started getting cysts on my face, that I have never had before. I was HORRIFIED. I am too old for Acne!!! My skin had been clear since my teens, and I felt the misery of bad skin all over again!! After logging in and reading reviews on Vitamin B5, I decided to try it. Let me say, this is the only thing that has worked for me, and it works AMAZING!!! The dermatologist had given me Differin and Doryx, and both did nothing. This worked!!! People say that this treatment is expensive, but it is so much cheaper than Accutane and works just as well. My skin looks amazing, even better than before. I have read how others had addtional break outs, and I had a few, but nothing that might not have happened otherwise. Now my skin is completely clear, after two weeks!!! I am so happy and confident again!!! TRY THIS!!

Tried tons of meds, this is only thing that worked

Pros:

Clear skin
Buy one get one free from Holland and Barrat
Easier than creams etc

Cons:

Dyhydration and headaches if overdosing
Affects other b vitamins if taken for too long

For around a month I have been taking b5. I'd say for the first week I was taking 1000mg per day but quickly realised that it was an absurd amount so reduced it to one 500mg caplet per day. First thing I noticed was that it was making me really dehydrated first thing in the morning so this was another reason I reduced the dosage to one slow release caplet taken in the morning rather than taking one before I went to bed as the dehydration was causing me to wake up with headaches every morning. After a couple of weeks my skin seemed to be getting slightly dry in patches which I took as a sign of it working - hallelujah! This kept me going and helped me to remember to take a caplet every single morning without fail. I am now about a month in and the change in my skin is remarkable. Yes it is very dry and this does worry me, but as soon as I'm completely happy with my skin I'm going to halve the rest of the b5 tablets I have so I will be taking 250mg daily so hopefully this will decrease the dryness. I must add though that I am also nightly using a topical lotion called adapalene 0.1% cream which was prescribed to me. However if I were asked which I think were working I'd say it was the b5 for sure. One think I have read though is that a continuation of taking a b vitamin for a long time period can reduce your levels of other b vitamins. So I may buy a multi b vitamin once I have ran out. I definitely recommended trying it if you've been prescribed tons of other things like me and they didn't work. (Both topical and antibiotics).

Pros:

Less Oil

Fewer breakouts

Few side effects

Cons:

Lots of pills to take

First of all, I've read several reviews, and I have to say...I've been taking this for 10 weeks, and my hair has NOT fallen out. I also take 2 B-Complex tablets per day to avoid deficiency issues. Results took much longer for me than others have experienced. Oil was reduced somewhat after 2-3 weeks, but came back sporadically. It wasn't until about the 7-8 week point, that I completely dried up. By dry, I mean DRY. I'm not complaining about that, as my skin was very oily. I'd give it a shot.

Pros:

Improve energy and mood
no oily skin
reduce my acne about 90%

Cons:

2 years with the pill no side effect. the gave make u thirsty, so u will be drinkin more water.
maybe too many pills?
or if u dont have money u will get acne again

My english is poor i know. Anyway i want to let u know about this, I had acne for more than 10 years, acne ruined my teen ages. Iam 23 now. I had severe acne, and i still have severe acne if i dont take this vitamin. I tried so many things in my life to cure my acne but they never worked or were very expensive like the antibiotics. I tried this vitamin with very low hope, because i tried many vitamins and minerals before and they did not worked. Well, i started taking 1 gram for 3 days, then 2 grams, then 5 grams daily...5 days later i noticed my face with less less oil, 2 weeks later and most of my acne was gone, i am using sulfur soap too and my acne is 95% gone . One more thing. i stopped taking the vitamin for more than 1 month and then the acne came back. And guess wut, now i have to take 10 grams every day because 5 grams dont work anymore. So please, dont stop takin the pill cause for too long because then u will have to take moar pills to have the same effect.

worked awesome
B5 gave me really clear skin for a few months. I couldn't believe it. But the results started to fade after awhile. I'm not sure if my body is just getting used to it or what. But still, I would recommend trying it out.

Pros:

IT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME!
It totally cleared up my super oily skin -- but not to the point of overdrying it! The amount of moisture left in my face is just right. Plus it shrunk my pores! I am soooo happy and grateful that i discovered this. it's just a vitamin but its so powerful in helping my body metabolize fat properly instead of releasing it out to my face. :) NO EXCESS OIL = NO ACNE!!! :D :D LOVE IT

Cons:

You have to megadose -- which would seem scary at first.. but its totally harmless, since like vit. C, any excess of it in your system gets flushed out in your urine anyways! Also, during the first few days of megadosing, you'll get some loose bowel movement. no worries cause this will subside completely as your body gets used to the B5 dosing. and thats it for the cons. all the pros are worth it.

i just had to write this review. i had been praying for a cure and this is it! in hindsight i am happy all 3 derms i went to refused to prescribe me isotretinoin (they said my acne was not bad enough :/ ). i wasn't going to give up on myself so i tried to self medicate and discovered b5 via talkingaboutacne's youtube channel. [link removed] I absolutely cannot live without vitamin b5. i am currently taking a maintenance dose of 5g/day. if you have acne caused by super oily skin, you owe it to yourself to try this. just stick with the 10g a day (spread out throughout the day) and you will see results. Also remember to take 1 pill of B-50 complex cause B5 only works when the rest of the vitamin Bs are present in the body.

Pros:

clears skin
Reduces oil

Cons:

Dries out skin dramatically to the point that it causes excessive flakiness

I was using b5 for 2 years, first year i was takin 7 or so a day but that didnt help too much and then i upped my dose the following year to 20 a day which literally cleared my skin overnight.I continued to dose on 20 a day for an whole year but now i have bin off b5 for 3 months as it has caused my skin to become excessively dry to the point that it flakes.I have not had my acne come bk yet after 3 months of quitting b5 but im quite sure it will make its way back within a few more months and also my skin is still very dry and flakey even after stoppin b5.These pills are great for acne but they would be perfect and i would of continued takin them if they didnt dry my skin out too much

works very good and is cheap
I have been taking b-5 for the last 8 months and it works very good. I take 4- 500mg pills a day and it has made my skin less oily than it has ever been and I am not getting cystic acne anymore. You can get a bottle of 250 pills for $13 on Amazon and it is well worth it. I have not had any negative side effects from it either.
