Apple Cider Vinegar (test)
I've been attempting to use Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner for the last 4 days. So far I'm seeing pretty surprising results. It's only been 4 days though. I've started a blog to record my progress. For now... I'll rate it 3 stars but I'll change that once I've given it more time. Take a look at my blog if you'd like to follow along with this test before or while testing it yourself. The link is actually part of this same site and I do add in the amount of Apple Cider Vinegar I'm using plus my regimen. If you have any advise, I'd love to hear it too :) - [link edited out]

So, so
About 3 moths ago I started using Braggs acv diluted as a toner. At first I was very excited because of the positive reviews It had, but soon to be my 3rd month using it, it has done a mediocre job. I wonder if it's because I use salicylic gel after it, or BP, then moisturize. I really wanted to work, If any of you guys could answer my question of should I be using BP or salicylic acid after the toner it would really help? :(

Don't use anything else except the ACV, you are using to many products at once. Try mixture of honey and sugar, wash face with what ever you use, then use the honey blend (1 Tablespn of each) scrub with clean fingers or pad from forehead to chin the entire face. Rinse with cold water dry face apply ACV ratio 1:1 with water, then try rosehip oil as moisturizer, don use anything else try for a week or 2. Try not to use other products, facial cleanser should be african black soap or goats milk soap. you mix rosehip with sweet almond oil or coconut oil etc. (some people just use rosehip right out of the bottle) you are using drops. ACV Bragg's is the best brand, try this, good luck!

Pros:

+Some noticeable improvement after a week or two
+Cheap as
+Stings...so it must be working

Cons:

-A bit smelly
-Can leave a pinkish glow

I got a spray bottle from a $2 store and fill with a mixture of 80% Vinegar to 20%Witchhazel water. I spray across my back and shoulders (the affected area) and leave for 5-10mins before getting into the shower

Pros:

Cheap, you can feel it working, and it brings underlying acne to the surface without too much dryness.

Cons:

Smells; it's made me tear up a few times. I recommend putting the cap back on the bottle as soon as you've used it.

It kind of had positive and negative effects for me. Being female, I have monthly cystic acne, plus the occasional little guys. The day I got this, I had a big cyst coming in. It came to a head in 3 days. That's impressive. It also brought to a head some little ones that were lurking around. Yes, I look worse for the moment, but at least that stuff isn't as deep under my skin anymore. The downside was, I had this little patch of about 7 tiny pimples/bumps, and while it brought those to a head, too (therefore they were gone), it also dried that patch on my face out. To fix that, I put acv everywhere but there, and kept lotion on my face and was able to mostly rub the dry spot off today. Far as red marks, I have one really bright one on my forehead that I can't tell if it's fading yet. Still, despite it all, I'd say it's worth it, especially for the price, and I'm gonna hang with it awhile and see what happens.

Pros:

refreshing,cheap,stimulating,rosy glow

Cons:

must get the perfect dilution..or else!

I love drinking apple cider (BRAGG ONLY!!!) i drink it 3x daily and thought I would try washing my face with it...well...at first it was great, i just kind of randomly poured a bit of vinegar into a bowl with pure water and put some BRAGG olive oil on afterwards..My skin looked perfect! Then i got a little crazy and tried a 50/50 dilution my face became so dry i thought i had ruined it for life:( no amount of moisturizer could bring it back!! luckily my skin is back to its former suppleness, but i wouldnt mind trying it again, my skin looked great when i must have used a cup of pure water and like 2 tbls acv TOPS!! you must moisturize afterwards try olive oil like just a few drops

Helps my skin glow but seems to be causing acne
I began using organic vinegar topically (1.6 vinegar/water ratio), and the first day of usage, I had pimples come up all around my mouth and chin. I've heard that vinegar will sometimes "purge" the skin, causing extra pimples before it improves the skin. Is this true (and perhaps I should continue using the vinegar?)?

Is it working?
I'm 16 now, and have had acne since I was about 13. It has only gotten worse over the years. I don't know why, but it's always worst in the winter (I live in Norway btw) In the summer I tend to clear up. Especially if I go to the beach a lot. I've haven't really tried that many different products. First I tried tea tree, but it stopped working. Then I used BP, which worked for a while and then stopped working too. I started to get really into natural skincare so I tried the "caveman regimen" for 2 weeks (during christmas so I didn't go to school and didn't wear makeup). It kinda worked. I didn't get any new zits just a lot of lumps around my chin and dry skin. When I stopped "the caveman regimen" those lumps turned in to acne ( I've never had a lot of acne on my chin or my cheeks but after the caveman regimen I did) Then I tried using saltwater, it didn't make it any worse but it didn't help either.. So I read a lot on ACV and decided to give it a try. I use apply a 50/50 mixture of water and ACV with a cotton pad in the evening (I use jojoba oil as a moisturizer and i wear mineral makeup) I'm two weeks in now and my acne is worse than ever. I guess my skin is purging? . My skin is really soft though and it seems to glow a lot more. Should I keep going? I really want it to work.

Pros:

It helped my acne a bit a first. It made my complexion more even.

Cons:

The smell lingers for quite some time. It stings pretty bad. It did little to help the acne go away.

I used this stuff for about 2 weeks everyday twice a day on a cotton ball. It helped make my skin smoother and a little less red in the morning. I pretty much only worked for the first 3 days and then just made me break out even worse.

Apple cider works better than the normal
Vinegar-Specially ACV works better. I found it too harsh when used un diluted and when used all by itself. I have a sensitive skin. I have used this with bentonite clay and green tea and it works well.
