Pros:

Acne Gone!!! :)
Scars Starting to fade

Cons:

Dries Skin- I have been using Smiths Rosebud Salve on dry patches
Thins skin - I find that if I scrub where the dry skin is I will actually start to bleed so dont scrub very hard, I switched to a micro fiber wash cloth and it works like a charm

I have tried numerous acne "cures" and this was my last effort before going on a course of Accutane. It has made my skin %95 better in just a week! I notice it getting better little by little everyday. I wash my face with spectro gel for acne prone skin and apply steivamycin before bed(only on problem areas) I never had the initial breakout that some have so that is a plus for me. If you want clear skin but dont want to injest potentially crippling drugs try this, it really works :)

Pros:

It has cleared up my skin and, most exciting for me, all the scars. Once my acne was gone I was still left with embarrassing scars. Now my skin is beautiful again.

Cons:

None for me. Not even drying of the skin--maybe I have such oily skin that I don't even notice if the cream dries it a bit!

Be patient and use this every day. My acne was cleared in 4 months, and the scars almost totally gone at the 5 month mark. I plan on using this for many more months because it's regenerating my skin like crazy and I haven't had any side effects. I know in another month or 2 my skin will look flawless, and I'm very excited about that. Note, my dermatologist prescribed 4 prescriptions including this one. I was on minocycline and diane 35, and I had 2 topical creams (this one plus clindoxyl). I cannot credit my clear skin completely to Stieva, but I do believe its been 100% responsible for erasing the scars.

Pros:

Cleaned up all the Acne vulgaris.

Cons:

Makes your old acne scars visibally alive.

Not recommended for acne treatment, but rather to treat Acne vulgaris ([link removed] the use of this cream will make your old acne scars become very visible (For me even the ones that were gotten rid of by Acutain acne medication which was a pill form medicine

Pros:

minimizes scars
reasonable price

Cons:

very drying
can only be used at night
Takes several months to see results

Ive been using Stivamycin for over 7 years ,over the past 3 years ive used it on and off because my acne does not seem as active as it use to be when I was in high school. Now in my 20's I have very mild acne with one or two pimples that might come up during my period. The main reason why i like this product so much ,is that 2 years ago I started getting facial hair on one side of my that would leave scars after plucking out the hairs. I am black ,with a darker complexion (similar to Fantasia the singer) , and i was really trying to avoid using any bleaching cream to get rid of the scars. After getting lazer hair removal I used stevamycin to faded all my scars,it took abouth 8 weeks . I use this product around 4- 5 times a weeks, with the neutrogena blackhead scrub in the morning to get rid of the film on my face, then a facial lotion on my face .The other 2 nights i will use a very deep moistorizer such as or Palmers cocoa butter or Bio-Oil .This is due to the fact that i find my mouth area get dry because of the medication. Bottom line: Product is good for mild to moderate acne, but excellent at fading darks scars. Hope this review was helpful

Pros:

- Does help in preventing acne
- Helps fade old scars

Cons:

- Dry skin
- Could sting a bit
- Minor reddish areas

I personally find this product to be effective against my mild acne which I get during my monthly cycles. It also helps with my old scars. A note** I noticed after using it for about 7/8 days, my skin start peeling, and when I applied it again, it was STINGING really bad!! I knew that was a no no, so I just used a gentle wash and applied it 2 days later. Please be careful with this stuff as it could possibly burn your skin. And I did not want to take that chance! I've been using it on and off for about a year. Just recently went in for a refill due to an allergic reaction which caused breakouts in my cheek/ forehead area. I've been basically using it to fade away my scars, used it for about 2 weeks now, and it certainly is helping ALOT. I'm very happy with it :)

Need to know how to use it properly for it to work

Pros:

Clears acne
Works fast
Can feel it working

Cons:

Hardening affect
Need to know how to properly use it or will dry out face

For those who say this product is very drying, you're not using it properly. This medication is supposed to be used in a very small amount and ONLY on the zit itself. Not all over the face. I am very careful to only put the cream right on top of my pimples and it dries them out within about 2-3 days. I ot use this cream at night. I've used it for about 2-3 years now and I will probably use it forever.

Pros:

- makes pimples smaller overnight.

Cons:

- makes your face feels really tight
- sometimes it burns

The trick for stievamycin to work is to not put a huge layer of it. This medication works best when put only a thin layer over your pimples. When you put only a thin layer over it, it wont leave a red patch on your skin and not alot of peeling too and wont burn as much. :) This medication SOMETIMES DOES make more pimples surface to the skin, but you just have to be patient. But it gets rid of them really fast. If you are paranoid like me about getting more pimples, i only apply it to the problem areas of my skin instead of my whole face.

Pros:

It definately works.
Not irritating if used in recommended amounts.
Gits rid of pimples before they surface.

Cons:

It can take a few weeks for the results to start, but after that, my skin steadily improved. My cystic pimples no longer surface (they are treated before they can break through).

I would definately recommend stievamycin to anybody. Just FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. If you don't slather it on, the flaking and irritation is very minor. I'm having excellent results; I just wish I'd started using stievamycin earlier. Also, it's pretty inexpensive. $24 (before insurance) for a tube that lasts me about 2 months.
