Pros:

Got rid of the very painful cysts on my face. Smoothed out my skin.

Cons:

The acne is bright red in the first few weeks. applying. Takes awhile to see results.

If used with a non-oily moisturizer, your skin will be good as new!

Pros:

It can be used for a long time, it's also good for wrinkles, it's supposed to push all the stuff under the skin to the surface and prevent new comedones from forming. I have not had any burning at all. There is no redness. Inexpensive.

Cons:

You have to have a lot of patience. It takes several weeks for it to work and give results. It may cause a breakout initially while pushing everything to the surface. Once the breakout clears your skin should be smoother.

I'm using the mild version to start with. The doctor told me to go very very slowly, in order to prevent redness and an initial breakout. Every evening for a week I put on a very thin layer on my face for an hour then wash it off. Then the next two to three weeks I can leave it on for 3-4 hours. Only after a month do I try and leave it on all night. In a few months I can move up to the next strength. If you go too fast, and put too much on for too many hours then you will probably get a burning sensation, and possibly a worse initial breakout. The cream was also inexpensive - only $15.50 BEFORE my insurance kicked in. I'll repost after I've used this cream longer.

Pros:

I've suffered with acne my entire adult life and this is the only medication that has worked for me.Any pimple show up, GONE in three days!!!

Cons:

Depending on my facial cleanser, it can be very drying and I can have red patches in the winter(-50 with the windchill).

I have used this product for six years and will never give it up. Major plus is as you age, it can help with the wrinkles too!!

Pros:

IT WORKS MIRACLES. I'm serious. ive been using it for over a year and my acne is just getting better and better. the acne goes away over night. sometimes it doesnt work when im near my mentrual cycle. But as soon as it's over the medication works

Cons:

it dries out my face. BUT i use cetaphil overtop of it so its fine for me. i love it. its perfect

I RECOMMEND THIS! just buy cetaphil with it. and maybe a really good facewash before you apply it. and put solugel on first and then cetaphil.

Pros:

- makes pimples smaller overnight.

Cons:

- makes your face feels really tight
- sometimes it burns

The trick for stievamycin to work is to not put a huge layer of it. This medication works best when put only a thin layer over your pimples. When you put only a thin layer over it, it wont leave a red patch on your skin and not alot of peeling too and wont burn as much. :) This medication SOMETIMES DOES make more pimples surface to the skin, but you just have to be patient. But it gets rid of them really fast. If you are paranoid like me about getting more pimples, i only apply it to the problem areas of my skin instead of my whole face.

Pros:

- reduces inflammation
- makes existing pimples smaller (cysts)
- fades old scars (kinda)

Cons:

after i put it on, my face gets really tight and i find it hard to even smile.

i used the mild version of it, and so far i havent experienced any of the redness, itchiness or flakiness... and its working really well for me.. i can really see my pimples getting smaller each day.. (I have moderate acne..) (the reason why i bought it for only 3 dollars is because of insurance)

Pros:

Keeps acne away, not costly and saves you from further scarring.

Cons:

At first your face is dry but keep in mind the longer you use it the less you use it. You can have a major breakout because this product will pull everything out. Remember: It always gets worse before it can get better.

This product does work and the others that say it doesn't are the ones who have been on the medication for one to three months. NOT LONG ENOUGH! If you listen to your doctor he will specify that this product does not work over night and that it takes 4-6 weeks to even start working. Than the product will clean everything out and if you have it worse than others you may even wake up to 2 new pimples everyday until your face has been cleaned out. Better than waking up to acne for a couple of months than everyday for the rest of your adult life. Not true in many cases that acne goes away once you "Grow out of it" like your parents may say. So try this product and don't give up. I was on it for 3 years in highscool and it saved me from alot of embarrassment, and then went on for 2 years with no medication acne free until my stress level rocketed and I am on the product once again and brings me back to when I'd skip a day or two of school on the bad days. Good thing I work nights!!!Melissa.

Pros:

Clears skin, dries out pimples, leaves no scarring if you use an exfoliant in combination

Cons:

Makes skin very dry and leaves dead skin but this is how the product works

I've been using Stievamycin Regular Gel for almost a year now and my skin is immaculate in comparison to before. I used it every night when it was first prescribed to me in Feb. 2007 and now my skin is perfect. I am actually able to go out without makeup on. My doctor told me to use a gentle cleanser during the day such as 'Spectroderm' (I use the one for dry skin and it helps out tons). She also told me to use an exfoliating scrub 3 times a week; the product I use is 'St. Ives Apricot Scrub' to remove the dead cells and skin that Stievamycin leaves behind. This regimen has worked wonders for me; a year later and my skin is clear and it has REMAINED clear after I stopped using the product. ***(Here's a hint at evening out your skin tone after clearing your face: if your skin can handle it get some sun! It completely evened out my skin but then again I have an olive tone which tans very evenly). I hope this helps and encourages others to stick with the product and give it time!

Pros:

clears skin

Cons:

clears skin in a few months AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE

I started in August and my face is now clear. It cleared in October and I still use it. I've come to understand, like any cleanser, you need to use some treatment to clear blemishes. I don't use the stievamycin so much now but I do us the Phisohex daily. Around my cycle I use stievmycin more. Phisohex can only be purchased w/ a prescription but it works better than any other cleanser I ever used. I just need to go to the doctor, ask what I can and cannot use on my face and get a new prescription for Phisohex. Do not give up. I am black and thought this wouldn't work for me and feared having to use Proactiv forever. Either way you, need to clean you face and use a regimen that doesn't cause irritation and breakouts, if you are prone, so one that works is best.

Pros:

-clears skin from the first moment applied
-fades old scars
-prevents further development of acne

Cons:

-dry skin at first
-may burn your skin if over applied

-Is worth a try but do not over apply the cream. Listenn to your doctors orders and let the cream work its magic.
