Pros:

easy
cheap
worked for me

Cons:

none

I've been using this method more than a week now and it's amazing! It almost cleared my skin and it gets better every day. You will see the result after 1-2 days. It doesn't hurt to try and you probably already have it in your house. So what i do is i dilute in water as much sea salt i can and using a cotton pad i apply it all over my face after cleansing. I wait about 30-40 minutes and rinse it off. And don't forget to apply moisturizer after that. You should cleanse your face two times a day: in the morning and before bed (just in case you didn't know). Good luck :)

Pros:

Amazing! Almost completely got rid of all acne in one treatment!

Cons:

Dries face a little, but moisturiser fixes that. I use Marula Oil.

I went to the beach and noticed my face was looking great, so a couple of days later I took a trip to the pier and filled a bottle with sea water! Sounds a little odd but I soaked my face with a face cloth full of it and focussed more on the newer pimples with cotton balls. If it gets too dry, moisturise it whenever you need but this is the only thing that's EVER worked for me. Such a great find.

Pros:

WOW! Its amazing how soft your face and skin is after washing with salt. I tried both Iodized, I know, I'm retarded but it didn't hurt me! And Sea Salt too. Leave it on till it stings and dries up your face. It changed my life in 20 minutes!

Cons:

Dries up skin.
Just use emu oil afterwards as lotion since its fast absorbed into skin and contains just what it needs, omega 3s.

It's perfect. Use right after cleaner, let face dry. Rinse with warm water 10 times, and apply emu oil.

Excellent!!
I use this as a toner after using my dove bar every two days. It's definitely helped my spots and leaves my skin feeling clean. However this is drying so I can only use it every second day. I fill a glass full with very hot water and pour some sea salt from marks and spencer ( a supermarket ) and wait until i have finished cleansing. Then I simply pour some cold water in the glass and pour it over my face. I rub it in and wash off with cold water. Wouldn't reccomend for very dry skin unless you have a good moisturiser but anyone else should try it

Try it
I remember last summer I spent a week at the beach. My face was full of pimples and scars so I was quite shy to g out without makeup on. I used to go swimming everyday. After 6 days, my face was CLEAR. Clear like those commercials and models' skin. I tried this remedy again and it's showing results. I simply boil some water and mix a tablespoon of pink Himalayan salt; wet my face with some warm water and apply the mixture with a cotton ball, my skin still damp. I let it sit for a few seconds, rinse with cold water and repeat for a few times. The key is to use boiled water (cooled down, of course) and high-quality salt. I have been doing this twice daily for the past 5 days and the nasty pimples I had from my PMS healed almost completely. I highly recommend trying this; not as a spot treatment, as it could be too drying, but as a face rinse

Why boil water?

Pros:

Cheap, natural, and very effective.

Cons:

Stings already sore acne spots, abrasive for first time users, and can be drying if using sea salt just by itself.

I decided to buy a jar of Dead Sea Salt with naturals oils because I always heard Dead Sea Salt was better than regular salt because of the low amount of sodium chloride and because of its therapeutic properties. Since it was cheap I figured there wasn't much of a loss. When I first used it, it was very rough. It was rougher than any other exfoliating scrub I've ever used. However, after washing my face, my face felt extremely soft due to the natural oils (olive, kernel, jojoba, and sweet almond oil). The oils may not be good for those with already oily skin, but I have dry acne prone skin so oils are essential for my skin. I've used countless OTC acne washes, scrubs, and lotions, but nothing has ever worked this well. I HIGHLY recommend sea salt to anyone since its really cheap. If you can, try to get Dead Sea Salt that's made in Israel. Which ever one you get they're all cheaper and natural alternatives compared to most acne products.

Great!
So I knew I would never post a review on here due to the methods never working for me, but for once I can post a review because this has truly worked for me. Now it didn't clear me completely but it cleared the little bumps on my forehead and stopped major breakouts. I don't know if I was suppose to experience a slight purge or not, but I did initially. I am continuing to use this daily in hopes of it completely clearing me up! I also added a few drops of tea tree oil in my mix.

I had the same experience with the "purge", but i realized these were just clogged pores rushing through the breakout cycle.

How long did this "purge" period last for you? Im on day three and getting teeny tiny white heads in random spots.

Try for blackheads!!!
I used to use the regimen twice a day to get clear (took about 3 months) but now I only use it at night, and during the day I use only lotion on my face and I'm still completely clear. 😄 but I still get blackheads on my nose and chin, so I started using vitamin e oil in addition to my daily routine (worked for my sister). It was getting rid of the blackheads slowly but it made me break out with pimples. :c so I kept trying to wait it out and once I finally decided to let it go, I started to use a warm mixture of sea salt in water on my nose and chin (I dip a rag in the water and hold it on the areas). So I knew this would make the pimples purge, which was what I wanted to clear it up, butttttt it's also getting rid of my blackheads! 😄 I've been using this about 10 times in the span of two weeks and I'm so surprised that it's also working on blackheads. Once all my pimples go away, I'll probably use this every other day or so. Btw after I use it, I wash my face and use only lotion if its during the day, or the regimine if its at night. Btw it brings pimples to a head, makes them go away, and heals scabs from popped pimples VERY quickly. Just apply neosporin on the scab afterwards and I promise you'll see a huge difference from day to day. Good luck! ☺

great as a toner!

Pros:

matt face
helps with cystic acne
cheap and easy to use

Cons:

i would not recommend this to people with dry skin

I mix around a table spoon of organic sea salt with about half a cup of filtered water. I use it after i wash my face twice a day. It helps keeps my oily skin matt throughout the day and gives my skin a clean feeling. When i get a cyst, i use a more concentrated amount if sea salt on the affected area, and it quickly clears up. The only problem would be that it can be drying but if you put lotion on after, you're good to go!

Very helpful with cystic acne; works overnight

Pros:

Helps reduce size of cysts
See results the next day
Hydrates

Cons:

Sea salt stings a little or too much depending on your skin type

I'm a 30-year-old female who is very prone to cystic acne. My acne was controlled for about 2 years with Aldactone, but I had to switch meds due to side effects and because 2 years is a long time. Anyway, been on different types of antibiotics ever since. None of them have helped much and now My cystic acne returned in full force. I use Aczone everyday to help prevent the, or shrink them, but it doesn't do much, so in my desperation, I read that a good homemade exfoliant is to mix 1/2 tablespoon of extra virgin oil with 1 full tablespoon of sea salt. Do this once a week to clean and hydrate skin. Well, the first time i did it, the size of my pimple shrunk big time the next day. It takes time to completely disappear cysts, but what Aczone hasn't done for me, this homemade exfoliant did. It also dries existing pimples and in combination with the extra virgin oil, it makes your skin look hydrated and if you have oily skin like mine, it does help control de oil. It feels weird when you rinse it off because you feel that the oil is hard to take off, but don't try to take it all off. Just rinse like you normally would and then let it dry or pat dry with a clean towel, then use toner, you don't need to moisturize, but I do use a turmeric moisturizer from Passport to Organic to help inflammation and then I apply Epiduo gel. In all honesty, I find that sea salt helps way more than Epiduo gel and Aczone together. I might start exfoliating 2 times a week, just to help the cysts shrink faster. I don't want to overdo it either. You learn to read your face to see how much you can tolerate. Also, when you exfoliate, don't rub your face hard; you don't want to irritate your skin either. Be gentle. I take my make up off prior to exfoliating.
