Pros:

Really helps clear acne, helps improve mood, decreased period length

Cons:

Have to make sure you remember to take it

I never had a break out all through highschool and junior high. After having a baby my face breaks out repeatedly, it seems like as soon as it clears up it explodes again but I started to take yaz as a birth control and it has cleared up my face and kept it clear. My face was cleared up in 2 days from taking the pill.

Pros:

It's the only thing that has ever worked for my skin.

Cons:

Haven't come across any bad side effects yet, but anyone who takes this medicine should be aware of them.

I'm 40 and have had acne since I was in junior high -- not horrible but periodic cysts and nodules, a few each month. I've tried everything under the sun except Accutane. While I have taken them in the past (Ortho TriCyclen) I have avoided birth control pills due to the lack of sex drive. However, I went on Yaz to prepare for Accutane. It worked so good the first month that I didn't feel the need to even start Accutane. My skin has always been extremely oily but it is less so now (it is still oily but really more dewy than anything). My skin looks so healthy and my back also doesn't break out as much. I only rated this 4 because I haven't seen it work long term yet on me. I would like to see more people rate this product who have used it for longer than me to see how their success rates.

Pros:

cleared skin for awhile then stopped working.

Cons:

Where do i begin? I was actually diagnosed with panic disorder and severe depression after taking this pill. I also have blood pressure problems. Weird they all started after i took this pill.

I was on it a year and a half. First 6 months were fine then i turned almost suicidal. I had around 6 panic attacks a day and did not know what was wrong with me. Found out YAZ does this to a lot of woman. I know this pill reacts different with everyone, but if you start becoming depressed or have unusual anxiety, you really need to look at this pill. Doctors really should let patients know about possible side effects like this. I am now off and symptom free but also trying to get off my anti depressants :(

Pros:

Cleared up skin, helped A LOT with PMDD. Prevents pregnancy too...duh!

Cons:

If you stop taking it for longer than 4 days you're off the pill, you're acne sometimes comes back.

Everyone is different!! There wasn't a single drug store/department store/OTC treatment that could help keep my skin clear for more than a few weeks. Yaz is for PMDD which is worse than PMS...like I couldn't leave my bed for days and would pass out from my cramps. It's for more moderate/severe acne too...be careful because you're getting different horomones over a longer period of time, which for some people can be too much of a good thing. READ THE INFO PAMPHLET! Using Yaz, along with Murad's Energizing Pomegrante Cleanser (not the acne treatment which is way harsh), and an occasional steam facial is the only way to keep my from breaking out. Chances are for most people it's not going to be a one step quick fix, you're going to have to find a combo of treatments to help clear up your skin!

Pros:

- cleared up acne (thought not as well as an antibiotic like Doxycycline). I still get occasional pimples, but my skin is generally clear

Cons:

- Immediate weight gain (literally gained a cup size in a week) Impossible to lose weight; always hungry
-SUN SENSITIVITY! So so bad for a lifeguard
- EXTREME nausea when not taken with food for the first month or so (would throw up within 10 m

In the end I didn't think it was worth it. I accepted the weight gain and even the occasional nausea (which has thankfully gone away with time), but the fact that it makes me burn is NOT ok. I've been on it for 4 months, and it did its job in terms of acne control.. but other than that it's not so great. The weirdest thing is it gave me BO that I never had before. I get a strange smell between my breasts that never existed (have to be so careful with deodorant, and I'm not generally a smelly person) If you want birth control & acne control, this is a great pill. If you're worried about your weight, this is NOT. It's expensive generally, but my healthcare (MassHealth) covers it 100%, so it is free for me

Pros:

Weight Loss, Birth Control, eventually cleared up my face

Cons:

loss of ability to become physically aroused, not a loss of libido, just dryness. increased blood pressure.

When in high school, I had maybe the occasional breakout. not completely clear, but never the problems other girls suffered from. My skin type was oily. After my first month on Yaz, my complexion became terrible. terrible cystic acne, very little blackheads/whiteheads, but again TERRIBLE cystic acne which left ugly scars. I noticed, however, that it was not because my skin was oily, in fact, it was dry and flaky. went to the derm, prescribed differin. cleared up immediatly. now I never have a single breakout. ever. don't even have to wash my face if I don't want to. I also lost a lot of weight. I was 5'3 and 125 lbs. could never drop below 120 since puberty. on Yaz, I dropped to between 110-115 and grew an inch. Love the pill, but would have extreme irritation and even bleeding after sex due to dryness. Apparently the estrogen in Yaz is a diuretic. I went on the pill for contraception, and asked my gyno to switch me. I am starting Mircette. hope to get my sex life back.

Pros:

NOTHING has cleared my skin up like this! I no longer had oily skin after being on Yaz for a little over a month. My moderate cystic acne cleared up.

Cons:

I did notice a little weight gain but I cannot be positive it was the Yaz.

I made the mistake of letting my prescription run out because Ididn't have time to get back to the dr. My horrible acne came back! I hadn't had huge cysts since I had been on Yaz! I am getting back on it asap!

Pros:

effective birth control, no pms, better skin, less cramps, light/short periods

Cons:

took a while to get used to it

when i first started taking this pill, i had a few anxiety attacks caued by it. but now everything is fine---i started to break out again, i think mostly because of stress---in the beginning, it was more effective at treating my acne, but i've started to break out agian.

Pros:

cleared up my acne (and I've tried everything under the sun...including Accutane), decreased hunger the week before my period

Cons:

If I take it at anytime that it not exactly consistent then it throws off my cycle dramatically.

Great pill but you have to be very diligent about the same time taking it everyday.
