Pros:

Really helps clear acne, helps improve mood, decreased period length

Cons:

Have to make sure you remember to take it

I never had a break out all through highschool and junior high. After having a baby my face breaks out repeatedly, it seems like as soon as it clears up it explodes again but I started to take yaz as a birth control and it has cleared up my face and kept it clear. My face was cleared up in 2 days from taking the pill.

Pros:

My skin has improved dramatically, especially after my first month on Yaz. I had horrible breakouts here and there, especially the week before my period. I had been praying for relief from that and am thankful my prayer has been answered.

Cons:

This pill has a dieuretic, so I quit taking it in the evening and switched to the morning so I wouldn't be peeing getting up to pee all through the night. Otherwise, I haven't noticed any other side effects. Taking it for endo, cramps still bad.

I would reccomend it to my friends who are suffering from PMS symptoms and acne. I am just thrilled with how wonderfully my skin has improved. It's surprising to hear of all the reports on how some have increased moodiness. My moods have improved, especially while I'm PMS'ing. This pill claims to help with that (PMDD). Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Pros:

-Cleared the majority of my body acne.

Cons:

-Didn't improve acne on my face.
-Nausea on the first day of use.

I'm 20 and I've had moderate to severe acne on my back and chest since I was 14. I've tried a wide range of topical acne treatments and antibiotics - nothing put a dent in my body acne. It wasn't until I was older that I realized my acne must be hormonal, so I was put on Yaz by my gynecologist. I didn't see any improvement for the first three month, but the only negative side effect I experienced was mild nausea for a day at the beginning, so I stuck with it. At the end of three months my cleared up 80% on my back and 95% on my chest. Oddly, it didn't do much to improve my face acne. I've been on Yaz for a year and a half and my body acne hasn't gone away 100%, but the difference is significant and I've gotten a lot of self esteem back, (which anyone who suffers from body acne knows is a miraculous thing.) I would definitely give Yaz or some kind of birth control a try if you have body acne and have exhausted your other options.

Pros:

it cleared up my skin
made my skin, in my opinion, "perfect"
barely any pimples
overall, REALLY GOOD
oh an period was much more regular/short
barely any cramps too

Cons:

you do get quite moody, but it's easy to control (my mood swings only lasted 5 minutes at most)
when i got off the pill (i heard the clotting rumours) my skin started getting WORSE! im talking about OILSLICK skin, wierd texture, pores were obvious, i started to breakout, bumps underneath the skin, random marks appearing on the skin. (**i should say all of this happened in the course of 10 months, so it was a slow progression)
i heard all of this is bc of your hormones being out of balance

bottom line, yes i would recommend this. its a good overall contraceptive, it controlled my acne when i first tried it. my only complaint is the results i got after going off it for a while. im back on it now hoping to go back to"before"

Pros:

Clears acne

Cons:

Severe Migraines

I have tried everything out there including roaccutane (accutane) and this was the only thing that really worked for me. I actually began to think I no longer got acne and didn't have to even be strict about washing my face. However the severity of the migraines mean that I can no longer take it. As soon as I stopped taking it my acne came back and I am now back to trying more products : (

Pros:

Clear Acne
Regulate mood
Maintain weight
No Bloated Feeling

Cons:

Hair Loss/Dry Brittle Hair

I used Yaz for about 1.5years and had no problems, except within a year my hair started to thin. That is my only con with this birth control. Other then this side effect I loved Yaz. Ive been on various other pills and I certainly like this one the best. Ortho Tricyclen and OTL made me feel bloated and made me feel "blah". I did trial going off the pill, I went off Yaz for 4 months because of the hairloss and bloated up like you wouldnt believe. Then I trialed a few different other pills, OT and OTL, Alesse, ortho cept, yasmin. None of which I really liked. Yaz was the best for my mood and maintaining my weight, and have decided to go back on it and hopefully with no hair loss this time around. Wish me luck. Other wise I will be making a trip to my derm to get his recommendation. I currently on Spironolactalone which in combination with the pill is keeping my acne very minimal.

Pros:

Cleared up acne
Boobs grew?

Cons:

Anxiety and depression in first 2-3 months
Cellulite (that I didn't have before)

I went on Yaz so that I could take Accutane. Needless to say, I decided not to go on Accutane, but stayed on Yaz for a little over a year. Other than the cellulite and the bout of anxiety towards the beginning, it was great. It started clearing up my acne in the first 2 months. And kept clearing it up. It did start to plateau towards the end. I stopped taking it because I kept forgetting to take it, just in the last couple weeks, and my prescription and health insurance ran out. Otherwise, I'd still be on it.

Pros:

Less acne
2 day light periods
less cramping

Cons:

Not a 100% fix for me

This product is a great BC and it has improved my face greatly. I used to get cysts on a regular basis, and now I only get one once in a great while. I am happy they make a generic, but would pay full price for it if I had to. Will never switch BC!

Pros:

- Clearing skin!
- Better for period-related stuff
- No side effects as of yet

Cons:

- Sex drive down

Birth control pills should take 3-4 months to kick in, but my skin is already clearing up and I'm only on my third week! I'm taking this for PCOS, so the acne part was just a benefit - my skin is mostly very red around the cheeks and nose (highly sensitive skin, ruled out rosacea), with a few bumps here and there. Now, it's a lot less red and those bumps that wouldn't go away FINALLY have heads so I pretty much popped those. My skin isn't as clear as I'd want it yet, but I am happy with it after such a short period of time! Oh, I did have a breakout-y thing in the second week, where my skin was PARTICULARLY ruddy and bumpy. So that was pretty awful, but now it's much more manageable. And I do think my sex drive is down, I'm feeling very....asexual these days, although I do love my boyfriend.
