Pros:

Cleared up all my acne - had perfect, glowing skin!
Lighter and less painful periods
Felt really happy on it as it cleared my skin, and gave me new confidence!

Cons:

Weight gain (5kg) - but I didn't mind because I could do with a bit of weight gain and bigger bust size!

Yaz really worked for me! Hormones had a huge part to play in causing my acne (non inflammatory). Been suffering from it for the last 12 years - mainly concentrated on my chin area. I had tried so many different treatments before this, but nothing worked in the long term. Been on Yaz for 8 years - it has changed my life.

Pros:

Cleared up cystic acne
No weight change
Lighter / shorter periods

Cons:

Breasts got bigger (already big enough lol)

I started on Yaz to clear up my cystic acne. When I started I had 10 cysts on my chin alone. By the end of the first pack all the cysts had gone! I have gone up a bra cup size, which I didn't want... but the pros of taking Yaz far outweigh the cons for me!

Pros:

It's only been one month, but (and I can't believe I can say this) my acne is gone!!!! After an unsuccessful Accutane treatment, this was especially exciting.
My PMDD symptoms are all either greatly diminished, or no longer present whatsoever.
So far, I haven't gained weight, and luckily my boobs have stayed the same size.

Cons:

none!

My acne, after an observational period of about three months, was very clearly due to hormones. While I'm frustrated that it has taken ten years of acne treatment to come to this conclusion, I feel absolutely wonderful that this tiny pill is working such miracles in my life. Pay attention to your body, and it may turn out that Yaz is the right thing for you as well!

Pros:

Helped clear cystic acne :) YAY!

Cons:

the first 2 months on the pill were very rough...
break through bleeding (lasting 14-16 days) and bad cramping
acne got WAY worse before it got better

To be honest, my first 2 months on YAZ were HORRIBLE and I almost gave up. My doctor convinced me to follow it through the third month before throwing in the towel. I really thought she was crazy for suggesting that I continue it... but I did listen to her. SO GLAD I DID!!! Midway through the 3rd month my existing cystic acne started healing and I didn't have new acne forming. The breakthrough bleeding & cramping I had in the first 2 months also disappeared and my period arrived when it was supposed to. (I now LOVE having a 4 day period and it's HARDLY a period at all). I am now mid way through my 4th month on Yaz and I've completely healed up. I am working on the scars left behind (mederma) and I have to say that I'm starting to feel the dark (acne) clouds lifting :) I didn't think I would ever be free of acne...but so far so good... knock on wood. IMPORTANT: She (Dr) insisted that I use the brand and not the generic. Because YAZ is so expensive she shared with me that I could use a YAZ Bayer Coupon to help with the cost. The first prescription is $5 and every refill there after will never be more than $25 (with or without insurance). Just google Yaz Bayer Card and you'll find it. You'll need to print the coupon and take it with you to the pharmacist each time you refill to ensure that you get the discount. I pay $10 for my refills... the cost is scaled depending on your situation. Hope you find this helpful :)

Pros:

Completely cleared my acne in three months!

Cons:

Expensive, but worth it if you have bad acne. My insurance plan doesn't cover birth control, so I had to pay it all.

I am so thankful that my dermatologist put me on Yaz. I never had acne until I turned about 21, and then my face just exploded. I went on a different birth control, and it cleared by face for a few months, but when I turned 23, again, it went crazy. Then my derm prescribed me Yaz. PLEASE GIVE IT TIME TO WORK! No drug can miraculously clear your face overnight. I followed the routine from my derm every day: Washed my face in the morning and applied Aczone (also a great product); washed my face at night and applied Differin. And I took Yaz every day. For two weeks or so, my face got worse. But the dermatologist said to expect this--the harsh medication was bringing everything to the surface. Then, after the first two weeks, it started getting slightly better. Then, in the third month, my face just cleared. Literally, one week I had acne, and the next I didn't. And it has stayed clear since. I am so glad I gave it a try. My face hasn't been this clear since before I started getting acne when I was 21. My dermatologist told me that I was on the verge of having to go on Accutane, and if Yaz didn't help, I would have had to do that. I'm so glad that it worked. Give it a try!!

Pros:

-lighter periods
-less cramping
-clears skin with time
-no mood swings or changes in energy levels

Cons:

-have to remember to take this everyday
-takes a while to work

I started this pill in December, so over 7 months now. I switched from Alesse which I believe is the culprit for my oily skin and breakouts. The first week on Yaz my skin already began to become less oily. It took about 3-4 months for my body to adjust to this pill and for my skin to clear. I love this pill, I have to issues while on it and I would recommend this to those suffering with acne or having issues with other birth controls, such as alesse.

Pros:

Shorter, lighter periods
Acne cleared up drastically
Relieved moodiness around period
Virtually no cramping

Cons:

Bigger breasts, unwanted

I know all women are different, but boy, my OB/GYN did well! I'm going into my fifth month on YAZ. The first two months were horrible, breakouts every day. But halfway through month three, almost overnight, my acne faded and faded. My skin used to EXPLODE at that time of the month; I would be miserable, and my cramps were unbearable. After Differin, Ziana, and OTC products had failed, my doctor finally recommended the Pill. Now, although I do break out around my period, it's one thousand times less severe. I would strongly recommend this Pill. But here's a warning, give it time! At least three months. Also, if you're a forgetful person it might not be the best option. But, here's the bottom line for me: I love me some YAZ!

Pros:

Cleared (what little) acne (I had)
Predictable period
Prevents pregnancy
No weight gain

Cons:

Same/Greater cramps
Slight nausea during period
Tender breasts

I originally went on Yaz to reduce my cramps and irritability; however, my cramps have remained about the same, and I guess it's just me that's psycho. :) Other than that, Yaz works great for me, but sadly everyone is different. If you're religious in taking the pill, I'm sure you'll reap the benefits, especially when it comes to avoiding pregnancy; I've been on it consistently for almost a year now, and I haven't had one mishap. Remembering to take it is sometimes a hassle if you're busy, but the spotting isn't so terrible (after I missed 3 pills); just lasts till your period. I haven't experienced any weight gain (or even for the past 4 years for that matter), nor have I recognized any cravings. It's quite possible that it makes my breasts sore about a week before and during my period. I also noticed that my actual period is quite the same, but a tad much lighter, though the nausea persists. (I had a brush with anemia years ago and went on iron pills.) I do not recommend this pill for those who are hard on remembering, but I do recommend it overall for the sheer fact that it benefits me much greater than it hinders me.

Pros:

Lighter, more regular, and much less painful periods.

Cleared up my acne!!! I can walk around without makeup and look good.

Cons:

Some very slight spotting between periods.

I am a 38-year-old female, nonsmoker. Within 2-3 weeks of starting Yaz, I was no longer getting those nasty bumps on my lipline and chin. After about a month, I stopped getting cysts on my cheeks. The cysts I had been getting were big and painful and required a cortisone shot and/or lancing. If you have hormonal acne, consider it. It may work for you. I was desperate and thought nothing would work for me. There are many negative reviews here, but that's not the whole story. The people who have success with it probably don't come back to this site to give a review.

Pros:

CLEARER SKIN. also lighter and shorter "periods" with less cramps. My self confidence is back :)

Cons:

None that i have experienced, despite the long list of side-effects which are associated with this pill. It was a little bit expensive, i paid $82 for a 3 month course.

This product takes time to work, but it is so worth it. After about 2 and a half months on yaz my skin was a lot clearer and i had no more breakouts. I was on minocycline (antibiotic) during the first 2 months which interupted the effectiveness of the pill. Once i stopped taking that, yaz kicked in and my skin started clearing up. It just needs time to adjust to your body, good luck!
