Pros:

No new acne lesions.

Cons:

Body aches.
Period lasted 7 days.

I was prescribed this along with Doxycycline to control a severe outbreak. I ended up getting a bad flare-up of hundreds of acne all over my face this past November. I've never had acne problems before. My DHEA-S and Testosterone levels were really high which is most likely the reason why I broke out so badly. I don't know if it's Doxycycline that did it or Yaz but I have not gotten new acne. I am left with 2 nodular acne on my right check and about 10/15 inflamed acne on my left check. And 2 nodular acne on my forehead. I have noticed significant improvement. Give Yaz a shot if your hormone levels are messed up like mine. Now I'm just hoping Differin and Duac do something for scars.

Pros:

Beginning to clear skin
Reducing redness

Cons:

Boobs very sore

I have been on Yaz for about 6 weeks now. The first 3 weeks weren't nice - my acne became worse that it had ever been. I returned to the doctor saying it wasn't working etc. She encouraged me to stick with it for a 3 month course and then re-assess my options. By about week 6 I have almost over night seen a turn around in my skin. It's not perfect yet, but redness is definitley reduced and it has minimised the areas on my face that are breaking out. I was discouraged at first but beginning to be very happy with this product. I suffer hormonal acne that came on severley almost overnight. My skin was clear one day and horrible the next and kept getting worse.

Pros:

-helps with hormonal acne
-regulates periods
-prevents pregnancy

Cons:

-possible side effects
-didn't work long term

I used this and my skin was PERFECT for months after getting on this, but i had to get off because I lost my insurance and this stuff is expensive. Then i got horrible acne, cysts and deep whiteheads all that stuff, so when i broke down and decided to pay out of pocket, it was never as good, it still helped but i still broke out on my chin and had at least one cyst every month along with smaller forms of acne on my chin. so i stopped using it, my skin now cleared up with a combination of retin a and spironolactone but still if you have insurance try it! It may work longer for you, and when i did work it was awesome.

Pros:

WORKS WONDERS, great skin, control over my period, got rid of acne withing two months

Cons:

Spotting for two months straight

This is a great little pill. My skin decided to Freak out over the summer and after 2-3 months of taking this pill I was totally clear.I was also taking 100mg of Minocycline and using epiduo (epiduo is expensive but is just the combination of Benzoyl peroxide and Adapalene)

Pros:

NOTHING has cleared my skin up like this! I no longer had oily skin after being on Yaz for a little over a month. My moderate cystic acne cleared up.

Cons:

I did notice a little weight gain but I cannot be positive it was the Yaz.

I made the mistake of letting my prescription run out because Ididn't have time to get back to the dr. My horrible acne came back! I hadn't had huge cysts since I had been on Yaz! I am getting back on it asap!

Slowly working
Thought I'd post my experience with yaz! I started yaz 3 months ago.. I'll be starting my 4th pack in about a week! When I started yaz i was having very mild breakouts on my back as well as a new inflamed pimple on my face about every 4 days or so and theyd take a couple days to go away with the odd cystic pimple every couple months or so! I should also mention that about 95% of my breakouts are around my mouth and chin area! Month 1: my pimples here were about the same with no change really! Month 2: End of month 1 and beginning of month 2 were horrible for me!! all my pimples cleared around my mouth and Id say for the entire month 2 I had maybe 6 cystic pimples on my left cheek.. no where else just my left cheek which I never get pimples there thats how I knew it was from the Yaz. As well as this, my back broke out in at least 20-30 pimples and I'm still dealing with the aftermath of that! Month 3: Month 3 I was still breaking out on my back moderately! I was clear for about 2 weeks now I notice that I am getting a couple more pimples again, so I'm praying that in a couple more months the body acne will be gone for good! As for my face, I havent gotten a cystic pimple in 28 days hooray! And maybe one or two little pimples that have gone away in about 2 days.. although I actually still have the bump on my face from the cystic pimple that was from 28 days ago.. So I'm hoping that goes away soon or I'll have to go to the derm and get an injection I guess! Will update again at the end of month 4 :)

Pros:

Cleared up acne
Went up a cup size
Mood swings chilled out

Cons:

Sometimes I felt emotionally numbed
Zero sex drive

I was on it for three years. I will gladly take cleared up acne over zero sex drive. My insurance pays for the birth control. I went off birth control for about 8 months and in that time, my acne got way worse. I went on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo because I wanted a lower hormone birth control and it hasn't helped my acne at all. I'm going back on Yaz immediately.

Pros:

Cleared up acne completely
Regulated period
No pregnancy
No mood swings
No weight gain
No effect on sex drive

Cons:

Still had awful cramps
Still had heavy flow

I went on birth control in an effort to stop my extremely painful cramps. I went on Yaz for a bit more than a year, and it didn't help. I stayed on it though, and it completely cleared my acne. I really liked that. I recently switched to Loestrin 24 fe, which has caused my acne to return, so it's upsetting to have had great skin for such a limited time. Loestrin is causing a lot of break through bleeding though, so I'm going to try another pill before going back to Yaz.

Pros:

Easy pregnancy prevention, face is less oily

Cons:

Dry mouth, not helping that much with acne, emotional rollercoaster during month 1, slightly decreased sex drive.

I'm almost finished with my second pack of Yaz. The first month was a little difficult. The second week, I didn't feel like myself and thought I was going crazy! I felt angry and exhausted, and didn't want to be around anyone at all. I was quite nauseated during the first pack, and I bled the first 3,5 weeks straight. That finally subsided at the start of the second pack. I have one week left on it. I was really hoping to see a difference in my skin. I've had acne since I was 12 years old, and have taken a variety to BC pills to control it (Demulen, Ortho-tricyclen, Ortho-tricyclen Lo, something else....). I had glowing skin while on these, and constantly got compliments from strangers on my skin. Not anymore! I went off the pill at 26, and my face gradually got worse until I started the Yaz at 30. I'm going to give this pill another few months to see if my acne goes away. If not, it's the Dermatologist for me! I've had it with the zits!
